USA Goes to War Against Iran

Time for a dedicated thread to the war.

It is very hard to find a single organization which better embodies the dangers of media monopolization, censorship, corporate greed, corruption, theocratic rule, unchecked military branches, paramilitary forces and violent political militias.

"The virtue of all-in wrestling is that it is the spectacle of excess."

Barthes

It is also a very dangerous false dilemma, because it obfuscates one of the big dangers with imperialist ambition: The tendency for imperialist nations to get embroiled in conflict when their interests clash. To make matters worse, as the tangled webs of imperialism become more complicated, these conflicts become increasingly difficult to predict, they can easily spread out of

Agree completely with all of this and I would add it’s a common theme for those with imperial ambitions to cast themselves as attempting to rectify the wrong of another empire, or attempting to save the state/territory that they are invading, pressuring, or influencing. Sometimes they even have a point. Intelligence and propaganda often contains half truths, reframing, or lies of omission.

Yeah I don't like that essay, he missed the ENTIRE POINT of wresting. A couple sentences down, he specifically says pro wrestling (which he ironically calls amateur wrestling) is of no interest.

no, amateur (now "pro") wrestling is the one he is interested in

it's a great article for people who don't see the appeal to wrestling

Release the Elway files, you ****ing pussy.

THIS!!!

by whatthejish m

How did you get the motivation to pretend you were a different person on the Elway account?

In lozen asked this, everyone would be screaming 'whataboutism!' at the top of their lungs.

I don't understand this sentence. I reread it multiple times every time I see this essay.

There is a false wrestling. Where they unnecessarily make a show of a fair fight.

Does that not sound like pro wrestling? What is he saying? Maybe we need to look at the I assume original French.

The IRGC exists to force Sharia law on the people of Iran.

Keeping the imperialists at bay is just a means to that end.

They are not fighting to free their people but to dominate them without competition.

Well said. That's a built-in feature of ANY theocracy.

by tame_deuces m

If the IRGC wanted to free their people, they would not keep executing Iranians for criticizing them. The IRGC is a media conglomerate, a large industrial corporation, a military branch, a religious institution for education, paramilitary force, a mafia, a political branch and is only under nominal control of the theocracy it supposedly serves. It is very hard to find a single o

The Epstein/Capitalist/Zionist/Pedos forced them into it!

It is not fake. It is staged.

Are you talking about wrestling or the 2020 election?

Randy Savage vs. Ricky Steamboat (Wrestlemania 3) was the GOAT.

BREAKING NEWS

Agreement to extend the broken Ceasefire.

The US and Iran have agreed (almost) to continue having a ceasefire (except when they are shooting each other) for the next 30 (or 60) days while they negotiate the rest of the agreement.

It is unclear whether the Strait will be open or closed, and who will control it, and not much talk about nuclear stuff and enriched uranium.

So, the US and Iran have agreed to maybe do something-or-other in the near future.

"true" or "false", idk or care what level Frenchie's on

this is the wrestling we are talking about:

These postmodernists are ridiculous sometimes, the simplest thing they have to write in a batshit type of way.

I think the essay should be updated for a modern audience.

the spectacle of archetypal moral relationships physicalized and confrontationally arranged to peak excitement

meanwhile providing the cathartic opportunity to gawk at extreme musculature and athletic performance

opens moral exposition and the reinforcement of status quo priorities, through contrived kinesthetic narrative interaction, to the poorly worded and believedly unphilosophic

the text contains excellent examples if you can handle faceless names

I'm pretty sure it's less of the kinesthetic narrative interaction and more of the kids just wanting to see Macho Man's atomic elbow and the parents having an opportunity to get hammered drunk and reminisce the living room pillow fights and the Nintendo headbutts

You write better than Barthes.

There's another one I never got, that Walter Benjamin? Maybe you can explain him to me sometime.

And now we're toying with $300 billion in reparations to Iran? So much winning.

Not good enough.

Not good enough.

Convinced Iran is just in on the market manipulation at this point. Not sure how else to explain this constant ''peace deal agreed nvm jk war back on'' cycle we've been seeing for weeks(months?) now.

It’s straight from the fascist theocracy playbook. If you’ve paid attention, Hamas was using the same tactics. It’s very transparent once you realize that they have no intention of making peace and everything they do is just buying time to rape and pillage their own populace.

How do you think it would look if leadership suddenly starts cutting deals with the “Great Satan”?

I’m not sure what you’re expecting to result from negotiations between 2 unserious parties. Iran knows that demanding a ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon will kill any deal. Are you actually ignorant enough to think that Iran cares about the Lebanese people?

Eh. This sort of thing feels like it has always been a feature of negotiations with Iran.
