** World Cup 2026 - USA, Canada, Mexico Thread **
Saw no thread was active yet while it starts tomorrow so I'd gave it a go
No real time for an extensive write-up but lets
19°C/66°F and raining, yep time for "hydration"
Game living up to the hype so far
Ghana getting the full CONCACAF experience that half.
panama had a good chance in the 2nd minute ..... and that was about it
truly the great afconcacafing of our time
PAN dude should've taken that winger out when he had the chance
i guess we were due for an absolutely dreadful game that nobody deserved to win, unfortunately ghana did, they looked pretty awful there. meanwhile panama are who we thought they were
alright colombia, time to make up for that one. no pressure
lol I had no idea that James still plays.
Fabio Cannavaro-aments
Apparently Uzbekistan is basing in Atlanta and just flew into Mexico City last night. That altitude adjustment seems... unwise.
TIL that Cannavaro coaches Uzbekistan.
lol @ that free kick
crashed out of bayern after a couple seasons. went back to madrid for 14 games. then 1 season at everton, followed by 20 games at olympiacos. then sau paulo for 22 games. i remember when he was at rayo vallecano after that ... for 7 games. then 1 season with club leon. finally he signed with minnesota united, but i thought he left or something (only played 8 games).
anyway i feel like he made A LOT of money from that 1 goal vs uruguay in wc2014...
I feel like he's criticised a bit harshly. His record at Madrid was 29 goals in 85 apps. Not CR7 levels but decent imo.
James has been a great player, just born in the wrong era.
He's a classic trequartista, which doesn't fit into modern 4-3-3 systems where you need your players to press and defend.
sick goal
Munoz is a baller.
oops, i missed a 16-game stop in qatar with al-rayyan before

ok, but also that was about the best spell of his career. i guess you could say that expectations were more of the issue; monaco bought him for €45m and madrid bought him for £63m, then loaned him out for 2 years. those were big fees at the time, ppl expected him to be a star, and he wasn't really.
Rodríguez' contract with Olympiacos was terminated by mutual consent
his contract with São Paulo was terminated by mutual consent
His contract with Rayo was terminated by mutual consent
then you look at how he kept crashing out of random teams after like 10 games and it's like ... what else can you say? not great, bob
true, could see him being great in the 2000s or earlier. not really made for the modern game, and unwilling or unable to adapt
solid 0.98 xg goal there
lol I swear we get the best games at this time when every1s asleep in Europe
both teams seem to be playing oafk between the sticks
Some of these teams are fielding very poor keepers.
Announcer just called Uzbekistan Kazakhstan.
