Bit worried about Mexico as they've already secured top spot

You're right, even though this Czech side have been absolute trash so far Mexico might not gaf. Unpredictable.

ht: 0-0, 0-0

ht: 0-0, 0-0

woooo

I don't want any of these teams to progress

2-0 mexico, rip czechs

oh baby, south africa score!

South Africa score!

They looked like one of the worst teams, and now they're in 2nd.

Scotland certainly want S Korea to score.

Sigh

Never mind the bollocks, here's Guillermo Ochoa.

Dog **** South Korea

by 72off m

so asia has 1 good team (japan, obv)

yet somehow qatar won the last 2 asian cups, and they're complete dogshit

shut it down

korea, probably. in la

road game. oh well

anyway, warm up the lolcanada thread for when we lose to south africa in r32

Possible but unlikely that mattered for Scotland. They weren't in the same 3rd place thing as group A was. It's not exactly top 8, it's slotted as one of group x,y,z,of a handful of groups. ie, why bosnia was immediately slotted for USA after their win barring some absolutely absurd series of results. Senegal is probably Scotland's biggest threat. (though senegal can end up somewhere else too as a 3rd team, scotland is basically mexico or bust) Though for Scotland, I hope they make it so they can get drunk in mexico. That and Ecuador not beating Germany is another one they will need. (curacao, etc but that would be unreal)

South Korea likely headed to face group G winner on US's side of the bracket. Good spot for them if they didn't suck this year where they like to pass the ball among themselves then do absolutely nothing with it.

late start tomorrow

curacao 1pt vs ivory coast 3pts (in philadelphia)
ecuador 1pt vs germany 6pts (in east rutherford)

japan 4pts vs sweden 3pts (in arlington)
tunisia 0pts vs netherlands 4pts (in kansas city)

paraguay 3pts vs australia 3pts (in santa clara)
turkey 0pts vs usa 6pts (in inglewood)

Curacao win tomorrow for the lols and to end this pain. Scotland don't deserve to go through. The minnow teams with worse squads have played better than us.

well, none of the 3rd place teams deserve to go through but fifa decided it'd be fun if they did from now on

But winning group and playing 3rd place could be riskier than korea/Czech/RSA.

Switzerland doesn't have the home field pro. Could be some advantage to coming second but I haven't looked too closely at the bracket permutations.

No home field, less rest, but RSA probably an easier opponent than whoever Swiss have to play.

Canada have opened strong favourites in the betting. 59% to win in 90 mins, 74% to be the team that advances.

We ran extremely well yesterday to end up with RSA. Should be an easy win.

Managed to get some money on Canada at 1.83. Line is now 1.76.

Need bombito and Davies back

Need bombito and Davies back

I honestly don't get why Davies didn't get any minutes vs Qatar like Bombito did. He must be more injured than they're telling us or I just completely missed it. Like 4-0 up vs Qatar, why not give him some minutes?

They said he will play Sunday though, which I'm certainly hopeful for.

If Davies is indeed available for Sunday but on some reasonable minutes restriction (say 60ish) do you start him or save him? I think you have to start him, but that might be short-sighted.

I don't think he'll start. Depending on the game state he might draw in. If they are down early, he'll come in early. If they get a lead, I can see him not playing at all. If 0-0 maybe he comes in 50-60ish mark

Can't start him. Hasn't played a game since May 6th and that was only 20ish min vs PSG when Bayern needed goals. It's also why I was so surprised we didn't play him vs Qatar when the game was done and dusted. He needs minutes.

I think he needs to play vs RSA regardless of the score. Maybe last 20 min or so whether we're up by 3, down by 2 or it's 0-0.

Curacao v Ivory Coast
Ecuador v Germany
Japan v Sweden
Tunisia v Netherlands
Paraguay v Australia
Turkey v USA

Obviously very far from whats likely to happen, but for lols

Curacao
Germany
Japan
Tunisia
Paraguay
USA

Little surprised Germany went with their strongest 11. Even Neuer is starting....
