maybe it's possible to rebuild an entire house starting from the second-floor bathroom. maybe we finally have that technology. i just feel like the first person i ask, is going to rip me off by giving me bad contractor advice. because their job is to bill me for stuff, it's not their job to truthfully assess everyone's situation
i haven't fixed my shower, i've still been manually opening and closing the valves upstream of the shower every time i want to use it. but just now i noticed water is leaking into the kitchen downstairs. i'm not seeing any leaks from upstairs so this is going to be a big pain in the ass. they're gonna have to rip up the floor, i'm sure of it.
luckily the leaking slows to a stop within a half hour or so, but the time has come, i think. to completely tear up both the main bathroom and the adjoining master bathroom into one superbathroom with a japanese toilet and a steam shower. just really splash out.
only problem is everything else about the house sucks. the electricity is old af, i still have a fusebox i don't even have a circuit breaker. and i've blown them frequently if i have too much stuff plugged in at once, it's pathetic. also, the insulation is poor. the walls need to be torn open all the way to the outside and reinsulated.
basically the entire house should be torn down and built back up anew. and that's what i really want to do, to hire an architect and build an original cool-looking house. but that'll cost a million dollars, for what i want, i already looked it up. so $1M +50% because the builders always lowball you and **** with you, so 1.5M. and then the 1.5m isn't in checking, i have to realize capital gains to get a hold of that much cash, so i'm now pulling out like $2M+ and i'm rich, i'm very rich don't get me wrong, but i'm not able to plop out 2 million dollars just because there's a tiny water leak in my kitchen. especially if the leak stops when i turn the water off. because if i'm not redoing the whole house right now, whatever i spend on fixing this bathroom is gonna be vaporized when i eventually do the whole house
