If that world exists, there will be famine and war and it'll not be something you want to be apart of.

Famine and war .... sounds like Gaza today. Not a mythical future.

And if it comes closer to me, I'll want to be part of it. Any life is better than none.

down only since nut nut chimed in thread. should've listened to him.

People aren't going to trade you a cow for a bitcoin.

I'll trade you a cow for a Bitcoin.

Lol best trade ever.

Imagine having a cow pasture and not accepting $110,000 for a cow.

I sell my cows on average for $2,000 but I will not accept $110,000 because I don't like your highly liquid payment instrument.

my entire timeline is a graveyard of “woe is me/my friend” or “check on your friends and be kind to strangers because a lot of people are completely rekt today.”

I saw this post yesterday and it upset me deeply, I hope this person is ok and I prayed for them last night.

One thing a tradfi financial advisor told me once many years ago is that retail investors always overestimate their appetite for risk. I think that's unfortunately probably true. There's also a lot of horrible stuff and bad takes on X and all social media. I hate the "HFSP" catch line, I much prefer stay humble.

I bear you no ill will my friend. I am not the dispenser of karma. Just a messenger.

When bitcoin's destiny becomes manifest, someone will be left holding the bag.

I guess for some the hormonal releases of the ups and downs are worth it in an otherwise boring life ?

I think it is good to be prepared for many possible future outcomes. Owning property by the Great Lakes is not a bad idea considering it has a large concentration of the worlds fresh water. Anecdotally, there does seem to be less natural disasters in the area compared to other places. There is something to be said about the monetary system in the world today. Bitcoin is perceived to be a safe haven from that. Why not get some of both? That way if the climate gets bad enough you're in a good place. Also, if inflation gets out of control you also have a bit of Bitcoin. Maybe you're right and Bitcoin is going to zero, but do you believe that the odds of it going to $200,000 is more than 50%? Personally, I feel like it could especially with the way the Fed prints money these days.

I sometimes wonder if there are ultra rich people that have run out of assets to put their money into so they just pile it into Bitcoin. 450 Bitcoins are mined a day and that's like $50,000,000 worth of Bitcoin being made a day. I'm not sure how much the miners sell of their Bitcoins that they get. $50,000,000 is a lot of money.

There are certainly problems with global monetary systems.

But the US dollar comes packaged with a military. Bitcoin owners have no government. No military.

When we're rearranging the deckchairs on the Titanic (metaphor for collapsing human civilization), bitcoin holders aren't going to have a seat at the table. They have zero leverage. Nukes give you leverage.

i wish you well with your 30 year bonds. nothing else has leverage.

I subscribe to buddhist advice.

I embrace my impermanence. I don't look to money for security. I acknowledge that it's necessary and I surf the world well enough such that my small needs are reliably met.

Unlike most people ... I am not obsessed with money. I was once a CFO .... I see how unhappy it makes people to obsess over money.

A better investment is to eat moderate quantities of nutritious food. Find a partner to share companionship and good orgasms with.

Bitcoin is an extension of some mass psychosis which Jung warned us about.

sounds like a fun time. surfing is awesome.

maybe spend more time doing that and orgasming, rather than coming to a niche internet forum to sh*t talk bitcoin?

The forum is equally open to bulls and bears.

Yup.

Guess I don't understand people that aren't actually bears, since they aren't into money security. Not in finances. Just into L-I-V-I-N but post bear posts anyways just because. A better investment is to eat moderate quantities of nutritious food. Find a partner to share companionship and good orgasms with.

But your bear thesis is ignorant and unpersuasive. You're only here to call us psychotic in order to make yourself feel better, you failed Buddhist. Thanks for nothing.

Enough! We don't need to hear any more about your orgasms, thank you.

Clueless hodler here, good time to buy now then?

Time in the market is greater than timing the market.

Bitcoin is a symptom of a disease.

It's not necessary. If bitcoin disappears tomorrow, the world continues to roll along just fine. It's just a massively polluting redundancy and a Ponzi scheme.

Like all Ponzi schemes, some people will make money by getting out before the collapse.

Funny that you don't understand the fiat ponzi that steals your money and you have no clue why and how it works!

Uh... he was a CFO

Unregulated capitalism on a finite planet is a Ponzi scheme. The day of reckoning for many sovereign currencies is in the works too. But cohesive nations with nukes and natural resources are going to be pretty durable.

Finite Earth resources are where the value is going to accumulate. That's the only thing which has ever been inherently valuable. That and the ingenuity necessary to transform them into useful creations.

Our ingenuity, harnessed via capitalism, is making more and better stuff, and using fewer resources to do so on a per unit basis.* If a resource becomes scarce that drives economization and substitution.

* with exceptions for things with heavy government involvement where capitalism is hampered.

I guess you believe Artificial Intelliegence (AI) will be using Finite Earth resource to do transactions at the speed of light because they inherently valuable......thats funny!

I think AI is an oxymoron.

You can't have artificial intelligence without first having natural intelligence to build it.

As far as I'm concerned, AI is enhanced stupidity. It consumes an abundance of finite earth resources and what does it provide in return ? How is life on Earth better for humans as a result of AI ?

To the extent that AI is built by greedy people with a lust for power, it will only amplify those characteristics.

A neural network that’s been trained on tons of text, like books and internet posts. When you ask AI something, the network looks at your words, finds patterns from all the data its seen, and picks the best words to answer you. It’s like a super librarian flipping through a million books in a second to find the right answer!

Maybe you don't understand that....but it was not built by greedy people cause people have no clue how the neural network actually works!

Nut Nut, appealing to your own ignorance is never a good argument.
