2024 Fantasy Football Thread
Welcome to the 2024 fantasy season, where I'm officially addicted to best ball. I've been drafting since the end of Jan
I couldn't imagine doing almost 1k drafts though I never tried the slow drafts
Out of curiosity what was you % splits between fast and slow drafts?
It was a lot lol. I actually had over 1k, as I drafted 48 season long contests on Drafters, but I decided I enjoyed the 3 week playoff format more. And then 95 of them were pre-draft contests.
I regret not tracking my exact slow draft/fast draft breakdown and plan to do it for next season, but I'd estimate roughly 80-85% were slows. The peak I reached was roughly 150 active slows. That was too many. I think 75-100 active is a nice sweet spot and do plan to draft less next season. It'll probably be more like 750.
Is there any benefit to drafting slows? I entered one by mistake and it was one of the worst experiences of my life.
I think I’m gonna advance in this one lol
7 of 43 to the semis on UD
0 of 8 on DK
2 of 16 bbm (so many 2nd place teams, brutal)
1 of 1 Pitbull
1 of 12 fast puppy
1 of 2 puppy 3s
1 of 3 German shepherd 2 (auto drafted all 20 lol)
1 of 1 mini schnauzer 5
Not the best, but still live haha
Well looks like I'll be advancing 2 into the next round. 1 in the DK Milly and another in the Play-Action.
DK Milly
Play-Action
I advanced 3 in the dk milly and 1 in the 3 dollar one . Had some huge sweats in that Minnesota game .
I have Alvin kamara on every team that advanced . Safe to assume he doesn’t play next week ?
It’s not sounding good for Kamara.

lol, it’s definitely not something you should do for only a few. It’s a volume strategy. I prefer it, but I know a lot of drafters are fast only. I’ll probably be close to slow only for next season.
The mornings and right before bed are the only tough times. But I also work from home and have a pretty relaxed schedule during draft season.
The main benefits are volume, having more time to think through picks, more time to evaluate the room, more focus on ADP movement and knowledge, etc.
And I join over time to make sure I don’t end up with a bunch of the same drafters.
I tried a couple slows last year and I hated it so much that I just stuck with fasts. I got about $5K down, but took multiple breaks during the season and burned out at the best time to draft (very end) so not sure fasts are the way to go either

Got an extra advancement ticket from DK for one of the $3 contests, but can't see which team it is just yet.

I think you probably need to be in at least 20-30 slows at a time for them to not feel like a slog.
The one downside of slows is that you never have a full clean break during draft season.
Fasts are just such a grind to put down big volume. I’m not sure how much time I saved in the scheme of things, but slows can be chipped away at. I can spend 5 mins here, 10 mins there, etc. And they don’t require the same mental focus from a speed and precision standpoint.
I can only do 2 fasts at a time. With the 30 second clocks, that’d take about 45 minutes, so that’s .8 picks per minute. With the 20 second clocks, that’d take about 35 minutes, so that’s 1 pick per minute. It was tough to multi table the 15 second clocks without at least one auto mistake.
With slows, I can probably pull off 1.5-2 picks per minute, especially in the earlier rounds. It’s also nice to only be focused on picking and not waiting for others to pick. And I never have auto or quick pick mistakes.

Ignoring his overall poor roster constructions, this is exactly why the heavy exposure strategy is so fragile, even when it leads to above average advance rates.
Lots of drafters had above average advance rates and were bounced because the guys who got them there had a bad week. My advance rates were less than average, but I advanced a ton of different combos, most of it not being chalk.
I still think 16-24% should be the highest exposure range for any player. Imo, the primary focus should instead be on fading players, good construction per position based on draft pick cost allocation, and drafting different combos.
On DK, I think 3-6-8-3 and 3-7-7-3 are the most ideal constructions. On UD, I think it’s 3-6-8-2, 2-6-8-3, and 3-5-7-3.
Hoped for a bit more from the Mayer stash. But got what I wanted from the Coker stash in dynasty.
Gotta overcome this Kamara thing now to get to the finals.
Damn missed out on a 2nd play action ticket by 0.6.
Well at least have 1 team through for some excitement.
Is there anyway to see the highest scores for the week on DK? Just curious cause I'm sure my team has to be up there
Mayer is an annoying dynasty hold. I don't really see a solid path on the Raiders, even if they find a better QB and better coaches. But I do think it's likely he moves to a new team for the 2027 season, once he's a FA. And he could easily be worth the hold by then. He'd be at prime TE age too at 26. But he's just a roster clogger for now.
Squeaked into the playoffs in dynasty after trading away basically all of my 2025 picks, plus some in 26/27. Going to lose mostly due to adams/Rodgers, but also because I have Stafford/K Williams/J Taylor.
Down 24.3 with his Hock and my C Williams/K Allen to go.
Thought I had a chance with him getting a 0 from Kupp, but my team needs some additional impact.
I have a good rb room overall (Brown, K Williams, Jacobs, JT, B Allen, Chubb, Najee), but could use help at qb or wrong i suppose. TE isn't t
you'll be good next year. Chicago, because they're such a loser franchise, hurt you by not firing Eberflus and finding a new staff to go along with their top overall QB pick. Made no sense. Wasted season for CW.

Thankfully I'm only just getting on this ride, and it cost me nothing.
Didn’t realize mini schnauzers were t2 advance so I got 8 through to the semis
Some of my ownership guys are hilarious (Corley, LMC, estime, etc…😉

I'm not sure i have enough impact talent, but no real path to upgrading. May try to trade a bit of my depth. Still debating.
