2024 Fantasy Football Thread
Welcome to the 2024 fantasy season, where I'm officially addicted to best ball. I've been drafting since the end of Jan
Switched to DK for one. This RB room could be the nuts. Got a lot of good value across the board in the mid rounds.
Mahomes, Trevor, Dimes
Gibbs, Achane, Swift, Tuten, Dowdle, Giddens
Rice, Hunter, Flowers, Addison, Pittman, Hollywood, Royals, ADM
Engram, Strange, Arroyo
This is a very nice team. Mahomes is due to have a bounce back fantasy year with everyone healthy. I have Gibbs and Achane ranked higher than consensus. Swift, Tuten and Dowdle should all be useful. Nice top 6 WR's. I love Arroyo
Thanks for the update. It still seems like Dobbins will make his way to another team but I suppose it's less likely now.
I'm getting a very late start on researching what's going on this year. Usually my motivation kicks in about now but it's not there. I'm playing a lot more poker this year so that might be it.
First time stopping at 3 QBs in SF, doesn’t feel super comfortable with these 3
Tlaw, Tua, Ward
Gibbs, CMC, Warren, Mondre, Bigsby, Shipley, James
Ladd, Ridley, Waddle, Golden, Kirk, Dyami, Coker
Warren, Gesicki, Chig

No problem. I still hope JK lands elsewhere, as I keep drafting him, and it's pretty disastrous for all 3 if he returns to LAC. But the fact LAC has his exclusive rights and his cost really isn't that much, especially with the rest of the team sorted out at this point, I'm concerned he's coming back. We know how much they value the run.
This is the longest I've gone without playing poker since I first started playing in 2007. I don't have a live option, and I finally just said **** it with online last Dec, as the bots, collusion, RTA, etc. is just too much bs to deal with at this point. So naturally, that time has been going to best ball drafting instead haha.
one more SF with a whole bunch of W17 correlation
Baker, Herbert, Milton
Hampton, BRob, Mondre, Allgeier, Shipley, Sanders
Lamb, Ladd, Adams, Waddle, Godwin, Higgins, QJ, Malik
Kelce, Otton, Sanders
W17 correlation in SF feels so easy and powerful haha.

I like it. I think this is the best way to do 3 QB. It's fragile, but you didn't invest premium capital and you know all 3 are week 1 starters.

I would be all in on the Best Ball as well if I didn't have the live poker option. It's a shame what has happened to online poker.
DK is wild that I can draft 1 WR in the first 5 rounds and still end up with this room.
Caleb, Tua, Geno
CMC, Brown, Hampton, Tuten, JK, Ollie
Reek, Ridley, Odunze, Olave, Higgins, Burden, Bryant, Coker, Brown
Bowers, Muth
Yeah, I wasn't sure about Stroud. He fell 20 picks past ADP. I also feel like floor chasing is better in the smaller contests, especially for getting to the finals. But I'm not sure about that either.
Based on the new leg up solver, it seems like I was wrong and stroud is completely fine there
Mahomes, Herbert, Sanders
JT, Kaleb, Charb, White, Shipley, Woody, Eli
JJ, Worthy, Sutton, Jeudy, Mooney, QJ, Royals, Malik
McBride, Muth
Sf finally got another t4 pick
Hurts, Tua, Russ, Cousins
Jacobs, Chuba, Judkins, Roschon, Wright, Sampson, James
Nabers, Nico, Smith, Olave, Keon, Mccloud
Jonnu, Goedert, Chig

That was a pretty interesting pod. Although, I love how the first half of the episode was analyzing teams who were drafted in the first week or so after contest launch and would clearly look better than what's available now lol.
I think the main takeaway from the sim is that volume at RB/WR isn't always the answer, even if you feel behind, especially when you may be getting ADP/correlation value elsewhere. A third stacked QB may be better than a 6th RB or 8th WR for the sake of more depth there. A falling TE can still be added to a strong room, because what if the other 2 dud in the playoff weeks?
I do agree that my team in question could benefit from being stronger than Engram, Schultz, Conklin at TE, and that when you add luxury to a position, you want to make sure it's not at the expense of any other position. But also, TE is the one position where you can try to catch up with late projectable routes.
I think another thing I'm going to try to do as these tools become more sophisticated is to watch pods and understand how drafters are using them, what the inputs generally suggest, etc., and then try to get different from there.
You want to try to push correlation, do weird builds that can work in a vacuum, etc. The tools are mainly going to either tell you to take correlation or take a position it registers that you're behind at. I thought the team they drafted was pretty decent on stream, but it also wasn't anything special that I wouldn't also build, considering 3 great drafters plus a tool were helping guide decisions. I would have taken a 7th WR instead of Schultz, already having Goedert and Pitts. Schultz wasn't even correlated at all.
Ultimately, the same principles apply. Balanced roster construction, correlation, and chase ADP values. The best ball sims and projections are what they are, and the chaos of the season will continue to make those sims directionally accurate but in no way fully predictable, unlike the dailies where the inputs are much less and the timeline is one single game slate.
I don’t use it enough, especially since I do a lot of slows and am just clicking through quickly. But it provides some valuable info.
I’d much rather see combo percentages than a tool that suggests the best pick.
Coachspeakindex on some heavy hitters this week. Field Yates and Herzig today. Norris and Levitan on Friday. Good for him.
First Josh Allen team in SF!
Allen, Bryce, Shough, Gabriel
Kyren, Warren, Charbs, Ekeler, Wright, Giddens, Estime
Puka, ARSB, Tet, Smith, Olave, Legette
Kincaid, Njoku, Sanders
Tried a 5753
Bryce, Stafford, Dimes, Milroe, Rattler
Chuba, Conner, Judkins, Davis, Allgeier, Giddens, Kendre
Chase, Puka, Nico, Rome, Pittman
Andrews, Taylor, Sanders
Oh boy, JK visiting with the Broncos. I kind of like it. I don't think it hurts RJ that much, but certainly signals that Estimate, Jaleel, etc. could be dead.
Haha, I added a little more detail to my last post. I think it's fine for RJ. Payton doesn't want RJ out there being a workhorse, anyways. Plus, decent chance that JK is kind of cooked. But I'd much rather draft JK than Estime.
Note, this is all from a UD perspective.
Fields, Tua, AR
Bijan, Monty, Pollard, Najee, Blue, Keaton
Wilson, Reek, DeVonta, Hunter, Kirk, Dyami, AD, Noah
Jonnu, Strange, Chig
Call Mel!
Got sniped on Stafford to miss out on the full game stack, but still happy with the correlation (I’m assuming stacking w17 QBs is pretty good in this as opposed to normal)
Penix, Tua, Russ, Milroe
Bijan, Pacheco, Skattebo, wright, Sampson, Lloyd, Mostert
Puka, London, Reek, Jamo, Waddle, Egbuka
Goedert, Pitts, Arroyo
