2024 Fantasy Football Thread
Welcome to the 2024 fantasy season, where I'm officially addicted to best ball. I've been drafting since the end of Jan
I did adjust the top of the post a little bit, since 2021 was a rough year. But there are lots of solid scores throughout that list.
2020 had less total QBs and Jalen/Tua were a bit unique, but there was only one bad score on that list.
It's definitely a highly variant list, and obviously some of the QBs we now know are good are carrying some of those spike weeks. 2019 is the only season where no backup hit between w15-17.
But overall, I think it still makes me feel good about chasing backups in the last 2 rounds, especially with this list only being a sample of w15-17.
Thanks for putting that together.

It makes me a little more weary since I care mostly about playoff upside when I'm drafting a player in the last 2 rounds, but I'll still have some builds with them.
Yeah, but the last 2 rounds are filled with day 3 rookies and dusty vets. I just don’t see how those players have more upside than backup QBs. Most everyone in that range needs an injury or more to payoff, and a backup QB is about as clean as it gets.
I just pulled up the draft board from my top listed team last year.
Look at this slop in the 19/20. Slayton, Kraft and the 3 QBs were the best picks. Getting 20 points from Mariota in w7 could be the difference between advancing or not.
I think you need to look at backup QB production over the entire season. Isolating for only w15-17 doesn’t show the true upside, since that time period is mostly random from an NFL standpoint.
Something like 55 different QBs started a game last season.
Always when I don’t have Reek and/or Achane. Sometimes when I only have Achane. And never when I have Reek.
yea I think that makes sense. How it ended up
Tua, Darnold, Gabriel, Malik, Hooker
Bijan, CMC, Henderson, Charb, Blue, Hill, Gordon
BTJ, JSN, Waddle, Reed, Mooney, Tillman
LaPorta, Pitts
I like it. Hopefully at least one of those other 3 QBs hit. I think losing Jonnu as an option makes it even more important to lock in at least 1 of those top 3 guys with Tua.
He’s got a wide range. 76 is probably about where he should be going. I pulled him up to 73 on a team earlier and paired him with Kamara. Dimes and AR were both already off the board. Russ and Dart went at 101 and 104.
SF
Bryce 16 past ADP and Dart 26 past, otherwise likely would’ve just gone 3
Herbert, Love, Bryce, Dart
CMC, Monty, Swift, Blue, Chubb, Corum
JJ, Tet, Golden, Reed, QJ, Slayton, Coker
Kraft, Likely, Conklin
Looks good to me.
SF
Purdy, Herbert, Russ, Trubisky
Breece, Harvey, Najee, Mondre, Chubb, Hill, Dillon
JJ, Ladd, DJM, Jennings, Shakir, Kirk, Slayton
Njoku, Theo
Looks good. The TB/MIA stack without Tua or Baker is an easy way to get a little unique. I think...quick,someone check the data.
I pulled up both Tyreek and Waddle given the Jonnu departure. I'm seeing at least Tyreek going a bit earlier now as I expected. I pushed Tua thinking I got both his dudes but somebody had to take him.
Is SF the in thing right now? Is this a new untapped, unsolved type of contest that you guys are getting ahead of? You guy's obviously love it.
I feel like I'm the guy stuck playing limit holdem while you guy's are playing the mixed games. I suppose I'll give a couple of the SF a shot.
Anybody got some quick suggestions before I jump in?
DK...3 dollar...pick 7
On DK I like my teams better when I get three QB's by round 11. I like being done with it and it feels good to have 3 strong QB's with a well stacked squad.
QB) Hurts, Dak, Drake
RB) CMC, Jacobs, Ekeler, Bigsby, Shipley, Sanders
WR) AJ Brown, Pickens, Godwin, Diggs, Mooney, Douglas, Tolbert, Royals
TE) Andrews, Goedert, T Ferguson.

I like it because it's the lowest buy-in available with life changing money to the winner.
I don't know how much more high dollar stuff I'm doing so I want to wait until August when we have a lot more information.
Strategy wise, RB are worth more, because there's only 2 WR spots. So I like to get at least 7-8 RBs on every team.
My favorite builds through the first 10 rounds are either 2-4-4-0, 3-4-3-0, or 3-3-4-0. With at least 2 QBs coming in the first 5 rounds.
It's okay to stack QBs from the same W17 game, and it's okay to draft backup QBs in the last 2 rounds.
Stacking is important, but you don't have to overdo it on every team. ADP is still a thing, but can be ignored to some extent when it comes to getting a stacking partner for your QB.

That's a lot of draft capital spent at a onesie position, and you really sacrifice a lot at RB when your RB3 is Ekeler.
If I'm doing a team like this, then I'm 100% taking a RB over Andrews.
SF, Pretty happy with this one
Fields, Maye, Milroe, McKee
Breece, Chuba, Henderson, Jones, Tuten, Brooks
Chase, AJB, Smith, Diggs, Burden, Pop, Keenan
Andrews, J Ferguson, Taylor
McKee, gross. Haha. It looks good. If Milroe hits, you’re going to do well in the SF.

Thank you!
Great insight.

I was playing the CMC/Jacobs as the guys but waited too long to get a good number three.
I wasn't planning on spending this high of draft capital on QB's but both Dak and Maye fell and It worked stacking wise. I also didn't love some of the other choices in those rounds. I could have grabbed Mason, Dobbins, Tracy or Skattebo over Andrews.
