2024 Fantasy Football Thread
Welcome to the 2024 fantasy season, where I'm officially addicted to best ball. I've been drafting since the end of Jan
He’s implying that you are a ****ing idiot for not being able to discern high variance with pure luck
Dope! That’s awesome man
Nice! I’m sure it’ll be fun breaking it in.
Have a controversial situation in a leauge where I am commissioner. Kyle pitts was on waivers and a team bid $90 (out of $1000 budget) on him. I team that was eliminated over the weekend bid $120 on him. I’m guessing he maybe put a bid on him after he blew up Thursday but before Sundays games kicked off. If he made the claim while still alive, should the claim stand or should I make him drop pitts since the pickup happened after he was eliminated?
I'm against eliminated teams being active on the waiver wire. However, unless your league has a specific rule against eliminated teams playing the wire, I think the transaction needs to stand. I don't think it should matter whether the bid was submitted on Thursday or last night.
I had this same situation a few years ago in a home league I run. I posted in the league chat and asked eliminated teams not to be active and respect those still in the playoffs. Some people got upset, with the position that they also paid to be in the league and should be able to play their teams to the end, like everybody else. Regardless of whether in the playoffs or in the loser bracket. Ok fine, I let it stand for the rest of that season.
We then had a league vote before the next season. The vote upheld eliminated teams remaining to be active. I won't do it, because I don't agree with it. I also don't care to waste time on teams that can't win anything. But league rules are league rules.

This.
You can lock eliminated teams. If you don't, or if your league doesn't have a specific rule about it, then you're at the whims of eliminated losers making transactions for lols.
Saquon and Bigsby both questionable for Saturday. Are we finally getting the Shipley game in week 16?
Lmao, I definitely need that
I'm so upset at this Ewers news. I hope he smashes it to Waller lol. Probably not great for Achane. Definitely not great for Waddle.
Tua has obviously been bad. Ewers is going to be worse.

My milly team would welcome this.
Nix, Love, Tua (lol)
Bijan, JT, Harvey, Shipley, Rodriguez (nice to see full practice), Chris Brooks (lol)
Jamo, Franklin, Meyers, Doubs, Wicks, Kupp, Rome, Reek
Waller, Kraft, Ertz
So much dead, but there are paths. Watson missing would help this team.

Pretty big edge with Franklin

You've got a chance.
I have 1 Milly team with Shipley
My other 2 teams both have Hurts/AJB/Goedert so those could work if they decide to just air it out and run the tush push.

It's going to be hard to be worse than Tua. That interception he threw on Monday might be one of the worst throws I've ever seen a QB make, and I would be saying that even if it wasn't an interception.
I'll be judging McDaniel on his play calling this Sunday. I'd like to see a minimum of 4 pass attempts of +20 and a maximum of 2 pass attempts behind the LOS.
So none of this **** lol
Unfortunately, I think you're going to be disappointed. I watched enough of Ewers in college to know he’s awful.
He’s basically a poor man’s version of current Tua. I’d rather see Wilson out there slinging it.
Spoiler
If you dive a little deeper into his college stats, you’ll find some interesting metrics that could translate to the NFL. During his final season at Texas, Ewers became heavily reliant on checkdowns, screens, and other quick throws at the line of scrimmage. In 2024, 28% of his pass attempts traveled 2 air yards or less from the line of scrimmage. These checkdowns/screens accounted for 39% of his completions and 23% of his total passing yards. Ewers was very accurate on these quick throws, as he had an 88% on target rate on passes of 5 yards or less. His average depth of target steadily decreased throughout his college career, going from 10.5 yards in 2022 to 8.4 yards in 2023 to 6.1 yards in 2024.
On the other hand, Ewers’ accuracy on longer throws left a lot to be desired. In 2024, he had a 47% completion rate on passes of 10+ air yards, with 25.8% of those passes being off target. This was the worst among all the top QB prospects in the 2024 draft class. He had a career completion rate of 20% on passes of 30+ yards with a 60% off target rate. His arm strength was even more concerning, as he attempted just one pass over 50 air yards over his three year career.
The data indicates that Ewers’ biggest strength is his short accuracy and ability to make easy throws. From a fantasy football perspective, Achane will be the biggest beneficiary of this change at quarterback. Along with being the focal point of the Dolphins’ run game, Achane is one of the best pass catching backs in the NFL, so having Ewers at QB should allow him to continue racking up points from receptions and receiving yards. When rookies first enter the NFL, their coaches and offensive coordinators tend to simplify the offense for them as much as possible, which often leads to plenty of checkdowns and designed screens. Achane should continue to be treated as a high end RB1 with elite upside given the favorable matchups against the Bengals and Buccaneers.
The data also indicates that Ewers’ biggest weakness is his deep accuracy and arm strength. From a fantasy football perspective, this will hurt Waddle the most, although it is worth pointing out that Tua’s deep accuracy and arm strength haven’t been great this year, either. Waddle will likely remain a boom or bust WR2 with Ewers under center and it will be difficult to trust him over the next two weeks.
Waller’s fantasy production has primarily come from red zone targets this season, which means that his production will likely depend on whether Ewers is able to move the ball better than Tua in the Dolphins’ offense. It’s hard to imagine the offense being much worse with Ewers than it was with Tua against the Steelers on Monday, but it’s certainly possible (as shown by Skylar Thompson and Snoop Huntley in past years). With favorable matchups coming up, there’s reason to believe that the offense will improve under Ewers. Waller remains a TD-dependent TE1 with elite upside at a shallow position

Basically just hoping for a lot of low aDOT PPR scam to Achane and Waller.
Yes I would also like Wilson over Ewers, but at this point, I'd take Stevie Wonder over Tua.
Haha. You certainly have more invested in this than me. My only concern is how it’s going to affect fantasy.
I think you need an avatar change.
haha good call, now I just need to figure out how to change it again
Haha gl! My WRs are rough. I might barely have 3 active.
I saw.
