What'd You Shoot Today? (Golf BBV Thread)

I think this forum could use a BBV thread, so here it is.

Played this course a few times, but it's been at least 20 years.par 72 36/36 6450 yards 71.2/130+13 (42/43)4/14 fairways, 9/18 greens37 putts. 3 1-putts, 4 3-whacksHad it going for a while at +7 thru 14, but then made back to back triples.Holes of Note:#2 par 4 - club selection was driver, SW, putter, SW, putter, putter (thinned my 2nd to the back fringe, putted it off the gree

New course to me.
Par 72 (35/37) 6200 yards 70.1/123
15-20mph winds.
91 +19 (+9/+10)
5/14 fairways, 5/18 greens.
4 1-putts, 3 3-putts. 35 putts.

Started with a 3-putt quad on a par 5.
1 birdie, 7 pars, 4 bogeys, 3 doubles, 2 triples and a quad.

Finished triple, double.

Eventually I am going to pop one.

44-44-88. No birdies, 2 double bogeys. 70.3/133/6100.

Managed to screw up something on almost every single hole.

Also shot 44-44 today. Had one of the more bizarre statistical rounds ever. I had 30 putts but lost 1.5 strokes putting compared to a 15 cap! My average first putt was 6.8 feet which is insanely low, usually 15 or so. I had 0 GIR. Basically miss the green, chip it close, miss the putt, repeat. I only had a putt longer than 9 feet on four holes.

3 pars, 3 doubles, 12 bogeys.

52-53 = 105 + 33 (adjusted 103) on a 72.0/135 course from 6950 yards. Course handicap 25; differential 25.8. No GHIN move from this one.

Played the four Par 3's like a dickhead (200/200/170/140 yards) at +10; lost a bunch of tee shots all day; couldn't make any putts and duffed lots of chips. Had a 9 on the card which is always fun.

first actual outer course action this season happened on sunday
what started as a trip to the range turned into 9 holes on a recently renovated muni
hit a large bucket, nobody was on the course, so i paid and went.

used to be an 18 hole par 3, but recently recrafted by Dan Hixson into a 9 hole par 30 (6x3 + 3x4)
packed sand bent fescue greens unusual in this area, more of a costal thing
approach shots guaranteed to release

from the 'tips' played 1600 yards
5 gir, 14 putts
two birds, two boges, even par
two three putts, one zero putt from the fringe 40 feet away for bird

44 (par 35). 1 birdie, 1 triple bogey, 1 quad.

Despite the score I'm encouraged. Not every shot was great, but in general the ball striking was improved and more 'normal'.

Back to the place I shot +13 on Saturday.

Very warm to hot. 80+ and sunny. 5-10 mph winds.
+22 (47/47)
2/14 fairways, 6/18 greens.
8 1-putts, 5 3-putts. 33 putts.
3 birdies, 3 pars, 4 bogeys, 4 doubles, 3 triples and a quad.

Weird round. Started with birdie, but then hit my next tee shot into the woods.
Had it +13 thru 15 (+2 thru 6 on the back) but finished triple, triple, triple. (Was 80 yards to the pin in the middle of the fairway on the par 5 18th and made 8.) I think I got a little tired.

Back at it Saturday.

52-53 = 105 + 33 (adjusted 103) on a 72.0/135 course from 6950 yards.

Tried to play this again today, front 9 only and lightning storm cut it short after 4. +5, was having a phenomenal ball striking day.

1 par 4 240 fairway drive baby cut, 50° from 120 fanned to 10 yards short right of green, pw chip to 10 feet 2 putt

2 par 4 duck hook drive finds beginning of fairway, nuked a 4h downwind from 220 yards and ball lost in hazard behind green, drop and chip to 10 feet, 2 putts 6

3 par 5 down wind, hit a fade driver about 280 to right rough. Rough is long dug a 6i out to advance 130 yards, 50° from 130 to pin high on green 60 feet from flag, 3 putts

4 par 3 220 yards back into wind, hit 4h again pin high, chip to fringe two putts

Disappointed not to finish and post since I was feeling it

Disappointed not to finish and post since I was feeling it

Got back out today on a different course 70.2/130 from the 6500 yard tees. 47-46 93 for a 19.8 differential.

New feeling of getting trail hip deep is super helpful and I’ve rarely felt so confident over the ball. Two penalties today, one was a bad swing dumping a wedge into the water on a par 3, the other was a smother hook into fescue and lost with driver on a par 5.

Hit one of the best 5w of my life on a par five, I hit a hook driver to native grass on #9 par five, 6iron clean to fairway, 315 yards to pin, hit the 5w to 10 yards short of green, up and down on a 40 yard bump and run.

Several 10/10 shots today with 6i and 4h, several perfect partial wedges, 3 300yard drives.

Use your lower body people!

played my third Donald Ross course yday... Bradenton (FL) C.C.

have also played Athens (GA) C.C. and Hope Valley

i'm an 18 handicap and was playing the 5,500 yards tees

made a huge 15' putt for bogey on #1 to lift the spirits right away. but then muddled through a +10 (45 strokes) front 9

but started off on fire on the back: par, par, par, birdie, par... and missed a straightforward 4' par putt on #15

i've only broken 40 for nine holes a few times, so i suppose that got into my head and i missed an 8' par putt on #18 for 39

both Bradenton C.C. and Hope Valley share the occasional Ross touch of #18 being a par 3

i forgot about both courses at Kenwood C.C. (Cincinnati) being Ross courses

so Bradenton C.C. was my fifth Ross track

We have the one Ross track west of Mississippi in Denver, wellshire GC. It’s a fun course run by city of Denver. The 9th is a par 3.

interesting. nice factoid

thx for sharing

41-42-83. 1 birdie, 1 double bogey. 68.6/126/5815 yards. Probably designed by Bob Ross.

The usual mixed bag. A few wedge issues and mediocre putting. But okay.

I think I'm at about 10 Donald Ross courses. If I traveled more I would definitely seek them out.

always thought of Ross as an east of the Missippi feller
is it still an issue playing convienant seaboard courses?

obv many of his courses have been lost to history over the yrs

he's credited w designing or redesigning over 400 courses

here's a list of 318 of the courses

44-47-91. No birdies, 4 double bogeys. 70.3/133/6100.

Set up very long, was more like 6400. More of the same, I screw something up on pretty much every hole. Most of the time I'm good enough to save bogey, but not every time.

43-42-85. 1 birdie, 2 double bogeys. 68.9/121/5900 yards.

Certainly made some interesting bogeys.

must have the improper decoder swing to translate if that is a happy or sad 85

must have the improper decoder swing to translate if that is a happy or sad 85

It somehow managed to be both. I was pretty annoyed by all the lousy shots, but at the same time happy that I was able to limit the damage and had a couple holes where I looked competent.

No official score today. Spent an hour at the range, even got in a little bunker practice, then went out for 9 holes. While I hit a couple godawful shots, for the most part the ball striking was much improved. I still don't hit it very far, but the flight was much better. Hit both par 3s after going 0-4 yesterday.

we all should take more pride in our abilities to limit the damage
it truly is a key to lower scores

44-43-87 (par 36-37-73). 1 birdie, 1 double bogey. 70.9/136/6221 yards.

Lots of bogeys. But at least I made a nice birdie on 18.

First time playing in 13 days. Got sick/busy with work/weather got bad. I can't imagine going 13 days without playing the rest of the year.

Have shot +19,+19,+13,+17 this year at this Par 72 36/36 70.3 124 6200 yard course.

Perfect weather.

+17 89 45/44
4/14 fairways, 7/18 greens
2 1-putts, 7 3-whacks and a chip in birdie for 39 putts all day. Putter was absolutely terrible.
2 birdies, 2 pars, 9 bogeys and 5 doubles.

Got behind a tree twice on a reachable par 5 to make a 1-putt double.
Started fairway, green, 3-whack bogey on #1 and ended the same way on #18.
Putts on the final 4 holes: 3,3,0,3.

Back at it tomorrow

TBE, there must be a quick four or five stroke swing for the better if you just reduced those three jacks.
is there a trend? are you playing courses with huge greens and find yourself 40 feet away on the first putt and can't get down from distance, or maybe you are yaking the close ones, possible both
just trying to better understand your struggles before offering my unrequested uneducated advice

40 (par 35). 1 birdie, 1 double bogey.

Pretty good for Tuesday night golf.
