What'd You Shoot Today? (Golf BBV Thread)

I think this forum could use a BBV thread, so here it is.

the classic 18th hole hero trap sucks you right back in

39 (par 36). 1 birdie, 1 double bogey.

One of the stranger rounds of Tuesday night golf. Could have shot anything from 30 to 45 and it would have been entirely understandable.

Spoiler
Show

1. Par 4. Good drive in middle of fairway, 8 iron a little heavy comes up just short. Putter from front fringe to 2.5 feet. Miss. Tap in bogey.
2. Par 5. 6h off tee to middle of fairway for placement. 3W perfect to 100 out. 8i to 10 feet, make it for birdie.
3. Par 3. 5i to 12 feet. Putt tracking directly for the center of the hole, somehow does not go in. I still have no idea how. Didn't even touch the pin. Ends up dead center just past, tap in par.
4. Par 4. Good drive in the middle of fairway. 7i to 20 feet. Putt hits the flag dead on, refuses to drop. Tap in par.
5. Par 4. Mediocre drive in the fairway. 5h to 20 feet. Putt grazes the edge of the cup, runs 2.5 feet past. Miss. Tap in bogey.
6. Par 3. 5i to 6 feet. Play 3 inches of right to left break. Putt breaks 2 inches. Ends up an inch right and a couple inches past the cup. Tap in par.
7. Par 5. Pop up drive. Cart GPS says it went 80 yards. At least it was in the fairway. Lousy 3w to 190, 3w to 12 feet. Play 6 inches of break, get 2 inches of break. Tap in par.
8. Par 3. 3w into fairway bunker. 6h to front fringe with pin in back of big green. Lousy chip-putt to 10 feet. Sloppy 3 putt from there. Double.
9. Par 4. Poor drive but hey it wasn't popped up to left rough. 8i to 6 feet. Miss wide left, tap in par.

Err. 8 was a par 4, not a par 3.

that's a wild ride Booker.

that's a wild ride Booker.

If I took golf seriously I think my bipolar putting would lead me directly to full blown alcoholism. Need some serious practice time on the short ones.

Back on the 72(36/36) [70.3/124]6200 yard home course.Low 80s and sunny with 5-15mph winds. Great day to golf.Started on #10.93(47/46)7/14 fairways, 5/18 greens.2 birdies, 2 pars, 8 bogeys, 4 doubles, a triple and a QUAD.2 1-putts, 2 3-putts. 36 putts.Stunk pretty much the entire day (started +7 thru 3) until.....On the 380 yard par 4 final hole I piped the drive to 95 yards

Sent of on #10 on the home course again. Sunny but windy.

80 (41/39)
4/14 fairways, 10/18 greens.
2 birdies, 9 pars, 4 bogeys and 3 doubles.
1 chip-in, 3 1-putts, 1 3-putt. 32 putts.

Hit it great but stunk with the putter. Lots of good birdie chances. Both birdies were the results of brilliant chips (1 chip-in for birdie, 1 tap-in birdie). Made 1 nice put, but it was to save double after needing 2 to get out of the sand.

3-putt doubled the last hole to keep my sub-80 rounds at 1.

Back at it tomorrow.

hey BE, for your home course, wondering what the result would be if you took your best independent result on every hole and filled up a scorecard
are there holes you've never made par?

Nope. 1 eagle, 9 birdies, 8 pars.

39 in league play after last week's disaster. I bogeyed the hole I took a 10 on so that's 4 strokes right there.

3 bogeys, 6 pars.

putting was odd. my lag putts either led to a tap in or something in the 5-10 foot range. I made every 2nd putt.

i'd take that every day nate

Best League night this year! 44 w/ three pars and four bogeys. Played against an 11 handicap vs. my 16. I'll bet he thinks I'm a sandbagger. No found balls but didn't lose any either.

TBE, when scottc used to post around here more he would share scores with the same graph: great for the first 15, yet always seemed to give it back over however many holes are left

so i felt compelled to pound him with 'always be closing' feedback every time he posted a score with similar results.
didn't take long for me to not have to do that anymore

just let me know if i need to start heckling

69.6/126 6000 yds
+14
2 GIR, 6 bogeys, 4 doubles, 34 putts (1 three putt)

a new to me course and all three lost balls may have been avoided knowing what i know now. a Jacobson design with severe dog legs and penalties if you run out of fairway
lipped out at least 4 putts within 6 feet, likely 5
also didn’t g-bebe a single ball so thanks for your support
did make several quality ~50 yard check up chips and a few solid low punch shots with purpose
playing again tomorrow on a familiar one

Shot -12 in the scramble. Winners shot -19. We were 0-4 on our eagle efforts.

I appreciate that, but I think I'm ok for now. After all, I birdied the last hole!

Nice, red! Sounds promising, progress.

I have been playing some of my best golf ever recently. Really have broken into shooting in the 70's a ton this year, more than I have ever before. Handicap is currently at an all-time best 6.3, has dropped ~3 points in the last month and a half. Won't last forever but I'm enjoying it.

35-42-77 yesterday. Was 2-under thru 8, 1-under thru 11 then the wheels fell off a bit -- I think the drinking on the course contributed to it a bit, but it also kept the nerves off. Definitely my best start ever though, hit the first 10 of 11 greens.

44-43-87. 1 birdie, 1 double bogey. 69.6/129/6075

Everything was bad. Just bogey bad -- I had 14 of them -- not other bad. Probably didn't help that I got little sleep last night and didn't feel great.

Back to my old game. 57/9. Three-putted five times. Giving my old set one last round before I sell them. So, if anybody is interested in a 20 yr old set of Tour Edge Bazookas....?

to be honest bazooka (not the gum) were cutting edge for their time conducting some of the earliest experimental moves into adjusting the center of metal wood mass backward opposite the club face to provide more forgiveness for over the top amateur golf swings

40-41-81. No birdies, 2 double bogeys. 70.3/133/6131

Apparently getting a few hours of sleep is helpful, night and day difference compared to yesterday. Other than driver ball striking was above average with a decent number of shots that would rate as excellent. Putting was well above average, especially on the back nine, as I found an adjustment that was giving me a consistent roll. Even hit a grade A pitch or two.

Driver, however, is completely broken and is problem.

Shot 96, 87, 89 the 3 times I've played this 72(35/37) this year.

95(45/50)
7/14 fairways, 6/18 greens.
4 pars, 8 bogeys, 4 doubles, a triple and a QUAD.
2 1-putts, 6 3-putts. 40 putts.

I stunk. Bad putting and bad chipping. That's what I get for just practicing putting and chipping for 2 days without playing.

Back on the home course tomorrow.

95(45/50)

Back on the home course tomorrow.

70s and 10-20mph winds. 36/36 6200 yards 70.3/124
77(38/39)
7/14 fairways, 12/18 greens.
1 birdie, 11 pars, 6 bogeys.
2 1-putts, 1 3-putt. 35 putts.

Best round ever, right after one of the year's worst.
Never got myself in a really bad spot, and even left a few strokes out there via the putter.
Missed 2-3 birdie chances that were much shorter than the one I actually made.

Playing a new course tomorrow.
