Par 72 70.1/130 6200 yards.

111(55/56)
5/14 fairways, 4/18 greens.
1 birdie, 1 par, 4 bogeys, 5 doubles, 3 triples, 3 quads and a quint.

Started quint, par, birdie. Yeah.

quite impressive
how many penalties?

Put 2 in the hazard on #1â€Ļâ€ĻI bet I lost 8-10 balls so 8-10.

9/7/25
Granite Falls South
Par 72 - 69.1/116 - 6401 yards
41/34 - 75

Definitely not a boring round this time out. 6 bogeys(5 on the front), 3 birdies(all on the back), no doubles, no penalty shots or lost balls. Three of the par 3s were playing 205+ and I bogeyed 2/3.

The bad: four 3 putts on the front. Two of them were from far away after awful approach shots but the other two were inexcusable. A missed par putt from inside 3' after a great chip. A bogey from 50 yards out after my second shot on a par 5(chunked one into the bunker and didn't get up & down).

The good: My best 9 holes in quite a while(-2). A tap in birdie on 11 after a wedge to 2'. Another on 12 after having 15' for eagle thanks to a lucky break on the drive. A 15' birdie putt on 16, and a 25' par save on 17 after an awful awful chip. I also made several par putts from 4-6'.

Home course.

93(48/45)
5/14 fairways, 6/18 greens.
5 pars, 6 bogeys, 6 doubles and a triple.
2 1-putts, 5 3-putts. 39 putts.

Triple was on a par 3 that looked to be dead nuts in flight, but I hit it too pure and flew it a yard into the rough over the green. 5 smacks to get it down the 30 feet from there. Short game is awful. Rust accumulates quickly when I don’t play consistently.

Nine hole scramble tonight. We finished -3, four birdies and a bogey. Winners were -7, -4 was in a scorecard playoff for money.

Oh hi. Life's been nuts the past year so I haven't posted much, but I've been playing golf except for a forced 6-week break FOR ALL OF JULY due to a burst appendix. I was playing really well before that happened and was massively upset. First couple rounds back were a disaster, but I seem to have hit a groove. Played a team match play event this past weekend against a neighboring club and shot 81 at the away course (that I haven't played in years) and a 76 at home. I hate this stupid saying, but 76 was very close to the "worst I could have shot" with my game that day. I missed THREE putts less than two feet. Guy didn't give me the first one and I missed, and it got in my head. I was lights out from 4-10 feet, which made up for it. I'd say good gamesmanship on the part of my opponent, but I beat him 5&3, so it didn't work.

My handicap is down to a 7.2, which I'm pretty certain is the lowest it's been since high school. I honestly attribute a LOT of that to losing a whole bunch of weight. For the past several years I've struggled to get around on it. Most shots were slight pushes/cuts, misses were weak pushes/cuts. I can actually draw the ball now, which I could never do with the extra 50+ pounds.

Ugh. What a disaster. 11 lost balls. 127(59/68) Definitely my worst round in a while.

On the bright side, My short game is getting better. I am at least getting it to the green when I need to. In the past that was an adventure. I only 3 putted twice so putting isn't the issue. But off the tee is just horrendous and I also lost 3 second shots.

I hit the driving range and figure it out, then get on the course an unfigure it pretty quickly.

On another bright side, that 5 wood I bought is pretty sweet.

There was a little, umm, tension on the course today. Apparently, the group in front of us hit on the group in front of them. Lots of F bombs getting tossed around and a few, "gonna kick your ass"s tossed out. The group that got hit on told the other group they would settle this at the end of the round. So, the group ahead of us snuck off the course at 17 and disappeared.

Days like this make me wonder if it's even possible for me to get better.

Second to last week of league. 52 , one par, three bogies. Four putted twice.

(Didn't find this tonight. Had it for years.)

35/36/71 6100 yards 69.1/130 course I've played a bunch.

85(39/46)
7/14 fairways, 9/18 greens.
1 birdie, 8 pars, 6 bogeys, 2 doubles and a ****ing 10.
4 1-putts, 2 3-putts.

10 came on a par 5 I've reached in 2 before, and immediately after the birdie I made.

1 - 85 yard worm-burner off the tee that made the fairway.
2 - 5w that hooked viciously out of bounds.
4 - 5w from same spot that also hooked badly, but mercifully caught a tree and knocked down after about 120 yards. No idea where those 3 swings came from, but they all sucked.
5 - 5w that is finally struck well.
6 - 48 degree wedge that I pulled left into the trap.
7 - Out of the trap into rough.
8 - Chip on.
9 - Putt.
10 Down.

Handicap up to 11.4, as my best round of the year (a +5 77 6 weeks ago) just left the calculation.

Playing some decent stuff recently. Just need to get rid of that one bad hole. This season I've only done it in a few comps though. 1 in which I won the Anniversary cup and latest one being in my 2nd round of club champs and even that should of been better, My first round killed me to have any sort of contention in that though, My fault it was 7:30am tee time and didn't get a chance to warm up.

I seemed to have lost distance (not a ton) but I've become way more consistent in direction. I can't remember the last time I hit a hook. Wedges and the putter are really good right now.

P790's are going ok, the only practice I've had with them is actually on the course so not the best. I did take them on our annual trip away which was fun.

We did a Ryder cup style thing 2v2 better ball first 2 rounds. 2v2 Scramble for 9 holes. Then last day we did singles.

I won't bore you with everything. Halved our first match. I had to give one of the other team 22 shots which wasn't fun. Played well though on this course. Think I shot a +8 80. This is the course I shot +2 at a few years ago. Everytime I play this course I know I'm never going to beat that.

My team is 1 down overall after the 1st day.

2nd match we won 3&2 and never was really in trouble.

Scramble we won 2&1. We were quite comfortable being 3up until we messed the 6th hole up and then the 7th they got a shot on the next hole which they won. I said to my partner we have to win the 8th as they get a shot on the 9th. 150ish par 3. Pin tucked front left and you don't want to miss it left. They step up hit one to about 12 feet pin high right. My partner misses the green way right. I step up and put it left of the pin to about 8 feet. They putt 1st lip out twice. My partner steps up misses thankfully I put it in.

Still 1 down after the 2nd day

Singles match I lost on the 18th. Tough conditions on this quirky golf course. I get a good start and I think I was 3 up after 8. I was playing really well then I just started playing like ass and he started playing decent. He clawed it back and went 1 up going into 18. 170 yard par 3. Wind in your face. He hit it first and landed on the bottom tier. He hits it shorter than me and he hit rescue. I had 6 iron in my hand. Quickly ran back to the cart to grab my 4 iron. I skank it up there right of the green on the up slope of the tier. I decide to chip and hit a really good chip to about 5 feet. He putts to about the same decent. I put mine in 1st and he had a solid putt to win the match.

Overall my team turned it around and we won by 1 or 1 and 1/2.

Really fun weekend and sounds like we will get a load more coming next year.

Hey_good to see less of you back_Porter
i'll be in Astoria tail end of October
but at a business retreat so probably only time to wave a pint from Ft George

meanwhile

consecutive posts have subsequently convinced me biggerboat and TremendousSlouch
should somehow combine special forces like lewis & clark to become the worlds most symbiotic front porch sack of golf ball recycling operation allegiance we'd ever seen

also recently discovered the big easy jeopardy question to 'how i shot 85' includes instructions for light five strokes on fire using only the flint from three five woods and some mossy tree bark

but damn son

pause and notice how he finishes every round that is started without quit
signs of man possessing a game honed by that sort of grit only found depressed greenside at your local muni

followed up by UnitedAs1 material worthy of a separate thread
although it seems his fellow competiors experienced similar conditions so not sure what he is bitching about

either way play on friends

And ec shot a -2 back 9. Good work ec.

lol...i see you ec

112 (50/62)

I walked today and when I do I generally fall off at the end. I'm 67 now and I just get tired. Probably not a great excuse but I can tell when my swing just falls apart.

Lost 2 balls.

Chipping was phenomenal today. Put it really close to the hole several times. Putting fine. Only 3 putted twice. Just gotta minimize those swings where I don't make good contact.

There's one hole that is my absolute nemesis. There's a creek that goes across the fairway that just gets in my head. It's not just a creek, it has a row of 5' hedges lining each side. It just looks daunting to me. I probably can reach it with my driver but I generally hit a 3 wood (which I just took out of my bag) or my new 5 wood. It should be pretty easy to get it over the creek distance-wise on the second shot but I just can't do it. I either top it or worm burn it or something. Probably trying to swing too hard or something. I don't think I've ever gotten less than an 8 on this particular hole (par 4). Today - 12.

I thought I might have had a shot at 100 today but it wasn't meant to be.

Watched another altercation on the course today. One of the guys that I was playing with almost got hit - like within a foot. He squawked at the guy because the guy didn't say fore until after the ball landed. The guy told him to quit being stupid - it's a golf course. It got a little heated but they eventually let it go.

Why people gotta be so mad all the time?

not to aim and point at any specific false masters green flag
but i easily respect seeing signs of how outlaw
mind you all a single digit handicap
quickly ditches repeated front nine putting suggestions using the big easy 'gawl durn wack it three times with my claw' method and has not looked back since

biggerboat your unbragging post aptly summarizes a perfect beginner mindset toward what might become the most humbling physical test of your life
no doubt you are up for the challenge

RED,

I love your posting itt and everywhere else on 2p2 even if I can't understand most of it. Never change.

This

40-41-81. No birdies, 1 double bogey. 67.8/126/5573

Made one little adjustment on the fifth hole and boom, ball striking improved immensely. Short game was fine. Happy with the putting lately - I did hit a number of putts too hard, but made most of the comebackers. Pins were in tough spots for some reason, so I'm very happy with the score.

This

too kind and somewhat embarassing
please notice original inspiration comes from you all
just trying to find creative ways for scorecard embelishment as good caddies are prone to do

being aggressive with approach putts and sinking the combackers is a fine state of greenside manners

9/13/25
Granite Falls South
Par 72 - 69.1/116 - 6401 yards
41/37 - 78

35 putts with only 1 3-putt. Needless to say I didn't make anything and didn't chip well. 5 bogeys, 1 double(a missed fairway, missed green, & 3-putt) 1 birdie(of the 2-putt variety on 18). A few wayward drives caught desert instead of rough and that was the difference between 74 and 78. mrs_outlaw rode with me and I played in under 2 hours starting at 2:45. Lots and lots of drinks! The only time I saw another golfer was when I was driving to the teebox on 18 they were driving away from the green.

mrs_outlaw was in charge of the scorecard today(which we recycled from Sunday) and decided to keep track of putts too. I could've done without that information.

difficult to score with only two one putts.
