Mindflayer's looking for abs Log
I Turned 55 a month ago. On my birthday my 7d.a.wt. was 166.77 lbs. I have lots of financial, education, and fitness goals, and thought I should start posting to give myself an extra boost.
Since I am up there in age, I am not trying to build muscle to look good for the ladies. I have been studying health and longevity for a while and so i thought it would be better to set an alternative goal. If I end up looking better that is just a bonus.
The actual goal is to become more healthy. By that I mean.
Eat better, get a good night sleep, exercise regularly, lower my weight and keep/gain a bit of strength.
I will give more explanation of those goals as time goes on.
At the top of my list is to lose enough body fat/weight to see a six pack. I am sure I do enough ab exercises to actually have abs, but it is hidden under a layer of fat.
I have been tracking my weight and exercise daily since January 1 and will post my morning weight and 7 day average, (7d.a.wt shortened to 7d) which I use as my actual weight. When you see my diet, you will know why.
I am sure this log will change over time, but as it may be interesting, I will post about all the things that I am doing to get my health in good shape.

2010 Calories. The other thing i need to do is to write down the calories
BEFORE i eat them. Then I am mindful of what/how much I am eating
and do not miss any items.

Do you weigh your food? It's a faff, but makes logging a lot more accurate. (I don't weigh more, but I'm not looking to lose any more; and I have logged for nearly 6 years now.)

I did buy a scale when I was losing weight several years ago, but I have not started weighing my food again.
I do measure my food when cooking so that is easy. Ie 2/3 cup of oatmeal and 1.5cups of water. .. then it is just math.
The big leak being eating from a big bag of chips or nuts and not knowing how much I ate.
The small bags or portion control packages are super easy to measure but cost twice as much.
I recently purchased a bunch of zip lock hard plastic containers and will pre measure my snacks, so I can do math again and
save money.
The last problem on the list is eating out. If I have a bowl of noodles or some strange dish, there is little chance that I
will be able to accurately count those calories. Will try to overestimate those calories.
I think my best defense is to eat out less and prepare my own food.

So I worked out a plan for calories and exercise
If I fast one time per week AND eat approx 1630 calories
per day on the other 6 days I will lose 1lb/week.
Of course my calories will vary up and down (mostly up) but
I will try to be somewhere between 1630-1900 calories/day + 1 fast/week.
In reality, If I just fast 1/week and keep my calories under 2000/day on the
other days, I should see an overall 0.5lb loss per week.
Lots of variance +- water loss, but the trend should be -0.5/w
Also for a good omen on this weight loss journey, I saw a double rainbow
yesterday (Oct 9) and Northern Lights last night on Oct 10.

If I do two fasts Monday Oct 21 my regular day (with group)
and an extra on Thursday Oct 24 (solo), I should make it the cutoff of 166.0 or less.
This assumes that my weigh in day/time is the morning after my last fast.
If I only do my regular group fast, I should hit a low of 166.3 or so.
This makes me think, what is the actual (day after weigh in) weight of fighters?
I am assuming that my actual weight is +2lbs for water loss overnight.
