Mindflayer's looking for abs Log
I Turned 55 a month ago. On my birthday my 7d.a.wt. was 166.77 lbs. I have lots of financial, education, and fitness goals, and thought I should start posting to give myself an extra boost.
Since I am up there in age, I am not trying to build muscle to look good for the ladies. I have been studying health and longevity for a while and so i thought it would be better to set an alternative goal. If I end up looking better that is just a bonus.
The actual goal is to become more healthy. By that I mean.
Eat better, get a good night sleep, exercise regularly, lower my weight and keep/gain a bit of strength.
I will give more explanation of those goals as time goes on.
At the top of my list is to lose enough body fat/weight to see a six pack. I am sure I do enough ab exercises to actually have abs, but it is hidden under a layer of fat.
I have been tracking my weight and exercise daily since January 1 and will post my morning weight and 7 day average, (7d.a.wt shortened to 7d) which I use as my actual weight. When you see my diet, you will know why.
I am sure this log will change over time, but as it may be interesting, I will post about all the things that I am doing to get my health in good shape.

Essentially was 4pm before I thought about eating while preparing for a 7pm meeting.
Then thought .. just work.. skip food.

a good 40-50% of that was junk food.
Was up online with friends past 9pm instead of sleeping early = Fasting Fail)
This is my #1 trick to fasting success.... get up very early and go to sleep early
because my weakness is eating when I am online looking at the computer/
chatting with friends online.

Found out that you can't use boiling water to make protein drink.
The powder clumps (coagulates) and you get a hot mess.
Was similar to hot water with some ground beef chunks mixed in.
No matter how much you crush the clumps it sticks together.
Must mix with cold liquid.

The only reason I can count my steps is that I wear a watch that records it to my phone and I don't actually
have to step on a scale or record what I am eating. I can look a couple days later and see what I did.

Going into the holidays I know I am going to put back on some wt. I have several business events to attend for lunch and
dinner. It is just hours of sitting around eating/drinking and talking. Hopefully I don't gain not too much.

Actually its fine. I am used to the food. I also add spicy sauce to the broccoli to make it edible.
It is a decent filler that puts a lot of fiber and some protein in me early in the day so I feel less hungry and eat less crap. I still eat crap, but just less.

Year in Review..
Started 2024 at 184.7 lbs .. Ended at 171.5 lbs
Total Steps this year 7,222,371 (5271km/3294miles) Averaged 19,733 steps per day.
On days that my pedometer did not record my steps, I used 5000 steps.
ie. days I took off that my pedometer did record
was 5419, 5340,5535 steps. My one sick day Record low was 3362.
My one day record high was 51,028 steps.

i spent several hours in the last week spitting out random goals and then choosing a few of each.

Here are my Healthy Goals for 2025
get down to 159.9 lbs by Last week in June. Planning on a hike with friends that day.
Mid goal is 163.0 by April 20. (Around Easter)
To hit this goal my other motivation is to post here Daily and record my Calories,
which I stopped doing after I hit my Thanksgiving goal... then after getting compliments
on looking good in my clothes, promptly put back 5lbs on too many holiday lunches and dinners.
Hip flexor is a bit irritated but will keep on walking and try to average 20k steps per day in 2025.
My father had both hips replaced in his late 60's early 70's because of this problem, so no promises.
May have to drop to 15k steps if it starts to grind again.
Will be hard to do because of random temptations like below, but will give it a good college try.
Didn't buy any, but it is like being an alcoholic walking thru a liquor store and everything is on sale!
That is like 1 lb of chocolate for $2.25 USD. = $3.15 CDN
