Trooper97 vlogs, discussions etc. will be allowed to continue in the new thread. That thread will not be unchained and I will work with the other LVL mods to keep it civil.

I personally am not going to allow a lot of the horrible posting that went on in the original thread to take place and I will be very generous with post deletions and bans if needed.

Posts the are overly derogatory, mean spirited, name calling (including using rude derivatives of names) , and demeaning posts towards any of the vloggers or posters in the thread will be deleted at the mods discretion. If any accounts persistently do this they will be banned or exiled from posting in this thread. In these cases we may issue a warning first.

Accounts that are used only to or substantially to troll post in this thread will be banned.

No personal family information or situations allowed in the thread.

Diesel: Inflation doesn’t exist, and you all are miserable losers who are bad at poker for believing in it!
Also Diesel: I need to further reduce my food expenses for reasons unrelated to inflation and my win rate.

El Diesel feels like he has been living in luxury in the past 2 years so needs to do better in the upcoming year.

He also thinks his carb and sodium heavy diet is very healthy despite being 70 lbs overweight and wheezing everytime he goes for a walk.

He obviously has some weird takes, but being frugal and a minimalist is not in itself a bad thing. He does it out of necessity but I also think he enjoys it.

The only person to suffer from his decisions is himself, I really don't know why people get so riled up by every single thing he does.

You guys are criticizing him for how he responds to a troll from this thread? The troll is obviously being a prick, you guys are ridiculous for expecting perfection from a guy that's clearly not perfect.

i have lived like a nomad all 2023 and his laundry number (along with his food) seems so low. does he include detergent and fabric softener prices with his grocery prices ?

we probably both have NY plates cars, my liability insurance is 100 a month. does he not account for that ?

He is actually crushing it poker wise, he is probably top 5% of earners for low stakes 1-2, 1-3 grinders.

Poker is the one thing that people shouldn't criticize him on. He is clearly a winning player and can handle volume.

Majority of people have leaks related to fatigue or tilt where they can't win as much if they played the volume of a full time player. Anyone that extrapolates their win rate playing 500 hours a year and assuming it would be the same if they played 2000 hours are just being ignorant. If you haven't played 2000 hours in a year then you just don't know what your win rate is if you were a full time player.

The lesson here is do not play low stakes poker for a living.

I think I remember that he just puts all his clothes in one load and that seperating them is stupid lol, I also vaguely remember him saying detergent and fabric softener is a scam so he doesnt use them lol, but I could be mis-remembering.

Would love to see the reactions from players sitting next to him at the tables when he's wearing his stinky clothes after 48hrs of no room and no shower.

He would be one of the most tilting people to play with, probably a big part of his winning strategy is to tilt everyone out of their mind.

When he is absolutely stinking and banging on about random baseball trivia or asking dealers to name the songs playing in other parts of the casino that could just about be heard in the poker room. Then also pouncing on any opportunity to go off on one about rules following the slightest mistake from players or dealer. Then getting out a cup of old meat that has been stolen from a buffet and offering it round.

All this would be so tilting!!

guys i think im gonna take one for the team and go try to sit on some of his games to interview him and see how much he can tilt me.

i play a level or 2 above him and more mixed games but i definitely want to improve my NL game and try some new things and if i can do it on Rice's table it will be so cool to try to felt him or make him lay down top of range

The guy has a ready-made excuse/cope for every possible logical suggestion or question. His only genius plan is to continue lowering expenses indefinitely, becoming even more frugal than he currently is. Any suggestion to actually increase his income is laughable to him. And people wonder why we clown on him??

One of the most beloved grinders on the deuce is pure_aggression, who has a long running thread in the poker goals section and a vlog. He literally went busto in Vegas and had to play his guitar for money on the pedestrian bridges. He rarely ever gets trolled and always has a good attitude despite overcoming many struggles including being kicked out of the military and getting scammed by Trooper.

Diesel on the other hand was born on third base, is currently on first base, and tries every video to convince us he hit a home run. He says he’s better at poker than random trolls despite just learning this year about iso-raising and having a mental breakdown on camera whenever he loses $200ish. Like yeah he will be eternally trolled here, he’s just a perfect foil with his Ivy League background and brain dead takes.

Yea of course hes top 5% when most of the field at 1-3 are super recs who come to Vegas get drunk and play cards once per year. His $14/hr winrate comes from years past when the games were much softer, and significant table selection, which is a good skill to have I will give him credit for that. I would bet anything his winrate these days is <$10. The bar is low, but its not fair to compare his ability to the avg rec. When you compare him to other professional poker players, hes easily bottom 5%, maybe even 1%.

The amount of time he wastes casino hopping to find the perfect table tells you everything you need to know about him. There is an opportunity cost to this if you are actually good at poker. But he knows deep down he's a breakeven or very slight winner at the average table, so it's not worth his time to stay there. If he had to play average tables every day, he would starve to death. He is simply not good enough at poker.

I'd root for the guy if he would show some humility, but being a bottom 1%er thinking you are a top 1%er is the worst trait you can have. The ego and delusion is out of control.

He just learned about iso raising? LOL. Was he limping all his medium-strong hands before? Can't wait til he finds out about pot odds.

and whats with the trooper scamming PA? I always thought PA staked him, but I thought it was an unconfirmed rumor. Never heard anything more about it, just that the stake ended abruptly I think. Do you have any details about a scam?

I played with PA once many years ago and he sat around nursing a $30 stack for like an hour. It was incredible. I just remember thinking, how can this guy be a pro with a $30 stack?? Maybe that was around the time he went busto.

by borg23 k

It's actually mind boggling he hasn't figured out that it doesn't have to be one extreme or the other. He can gasp- make more money and save a lot more in the process. And while a lot of people are terrible with money, there are also a lot of people who make good or great money who would kill themselves if they had to live like a pauper and only save a thousand or two a year.

His response as far as poker goes is also comical. He actually somehow thinks he's crushing poker and they anyone responds

that brings up an interesting point. unless you have proof that deisel is inflating or flat out lying about his numbers, he has gone out of his way to provide a true hourly breakdown of what he makes, even going so far as to collect venue-specific stats and day-of-the-week hourly rankings. he is profitable. he makes money at poker. there is no genuine doubt about that. so to say he thinks he's crushing, he is. but go ahead, argue about what crushing is. [....but deisel clearly doesnt make enough money to satisfy this thread's living standards, god forbid.]

given his stats, and given the stakes, i would consider him crushing the game, again, at that level. like some, i would have some doubts as to whether deisel would be able to cut it at the 2/5+ level, because it's such a different game. but i mean be able to make a meaningful profit given the stakes. you cannot sit there and deny that deisel does exactly that.

here is the video of general profit after a few years:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6zCxJ3__...

here is one for breakdown of day-of-the-week:

here's another for breakdown of venue specific:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q48HhwIy...

are you willing to be honest enough to concede that? or would you rather beat the guy up for everything else.

"Doesent make enough to satisfy this threads living standards" LOL

Come on dude, give us a freaking break. As if Diesels ultra low living standards is strictly out of sync strictly for this thread, as if not for the 99 out of a 100 people in society. its not even up for discussion that he is living like a homeless in terms of lifestyle, its not by this threads standards but for any close to normal person standards.

He is also NOT even crushing the stakes he is playing aka 1/2 or 1/3. He is hiding/drowning his real hourly in a tornado of different numbers, diagrams, breakdowns, locations and alot of other stuff. If you are a livepro with his level of arrogance and smugness, you should absolutely be destroying the games at these stakes aka 10-12 BB pr hour over a large sample.

Chances are that Diesel pr 2024 is barely profitable in the Vegas livegames where he plays the most volume. If he is profitable its probably for like couple of bigs pr hour, or like 6-8 bucks pr hour-as other posters have pointed out before. Its a big difference in the live NL games especially from lets say 2018 and in this day and age. Diesel is NOT keeping up with the game, not working/developing his game, not open to new ideas he just strictly nutpeddels with an ultralow vpip like he has always done.

Using Open Source Intelligence is not cyberstalking.

I did google it, and this is not describing someone looking up public information about someone. Maybe there is another term to describe that, but not Cyberstalking.

El Diesel doesn't play any hands. Rake increases don't hurt him that much.

Also people like to lol@the more rake is better thing but room with low rake and high hand type promos where the regs end up getting most of the money produce shitty games. Obviously there is a point where more really is extremely detrimental but an extra dollar a hand is fine if it chases off break even miserable promo trashing trash.

Pot rake is already grossly unfair as it is. Not reason guys who play a lot of hands and

He said his winrate in Vegas games was $11 an hour when he first started his vlog. It might be lower than that now. What would his winrate be if the rake was $6 instead of $5 or $4 the entire time?

Also the fact that it’s going to $6 means we’re going to see $7 rake pretty soon, and then eventually $8. The rake keeps increasing more quickly too.

Personally I think it’s a bigger deal to him than he thinks.

In Diesels latest vlog he compares expenses from 2022 and 2023.

The Vlog I want to see is, how many hours of poker Diesel played in 2023.
No chance Diesel played even 150 hours a month.
I also want to see his hourly win rate for 2023.
I seriously doubt he made $10/hr, and would not be surprised he made less than $8/hr.
I don't think there's a snowball's chance in hell Diesel made $20K for year 2023?

My guess is 1500-1600 hours, $7-8/hr, $10/11k. His parents probably spent more on his health insurance than he made all year. Yeah jobs are for suckers diesel and the 401k match is ghost money, keep grinding it’s noble work you’re doing stealing food from buffets and washing your clothes in airbnbs without detergent!

Diesel already mentioned in the comments he will be tipping less, so rake increase shouldn’t hit his bottom line too hard.

Is $8/hr still considered “crushing it” by his fans? Crazy ass ****!

He's already alluded to stop tipping as a response to increased rake in his comments.

Calling it now, Diesel has no chance to continue to play poker for a living in the near future. He is not making anywhere near that 14/hr mark these days, and every year gets tougher and his hourly will keep plummeting. This year he will see a significant drop to his winrate with the rake increase. If it happened to your hero Trooper, it can happen to you too. I have no doubt Trooper was a winning player 10 years ago, but look at him now. Diesels trajectory is looking an awful lot like Tims right now. Im guessing in two or three years he will realize he can't keep up anymore. You need to study to maintain your hourly each year as both regs and recs tend to get better. He doesn't seem willing to do that. Adapt or die.

He will just do a $20/month + comps food challenge for the entire year.

California raised the minimum fast food wage to $20 per hour so working at a Needles, California or Baker, California McDonalds would earn more money than poker in Las Vegas. Plus California will give free Medi-Cal health insurance for the fast food workers.
