Congratulations! What an awesome start to the trip

Pics of Grimaldi’s food?

My wife is constantly trying to get me more new shoes. I tell her all I need are one pair of tennis shoes, one pair of dress shoes and one pair of casual shoes.

She gets me more, and I never think to wear the rest.

I can't remember the last time I didn't wear sneakers. I work from home so I don't have to impress anyone at work. TBH I'm old as dirt so I don't have to impress anyone.

Sitting at the bar in Grimaldis right now, sipping on a beer and just ordered food. I lasted longer than I thought after last break busting out in 6th place. I busted out at exactly 10pm which means I leatherassed that tourney for 10 hours!

Anyway 6th paid 2404 or a profit of $2004. Hard to complain about that. I am hungry and exhausted. I shoved my final 300k chips with A5 suited and ran into AK and didn't improve. We played 6 handed for at least an hour. The whole thing is a blur about right no

Nice run! If it were me I'd be sorely tempted to call it a poker trip and lock up a nice win. Obviously I'll never be a bracelet winner type.

Congratulations. Awesome result. Way to represent LVL.

Grimaldi's was awesome as usual It has become one of my favorite Las Vegas meals. There's just something about the cheese that gives an awesome flavor. Anyway after I wolf that down I headed back to the room. On the way I decided to give bubble craps one more shot since I seem to be running good. Anyway it worked out again and I cashed out for Plus 121.

I really seem to be running fairly well this trip so far. Since I still have a few days to go I hope it lasts. After today there's no way I'm going to play another tournament tomorrow it's just too grueling. But I'm still thinking about playing The Bounty tournament on wednesday.

After a long tournament I'm always kind of frazzled. So I'm just chilling up in the room right now sipping on a beer and hope I can get a good night's sleep tonight. Tomorrow I hope to hit the pool again in the morning and then later on probably some cash.

Alternatively, this is a sign from the poker gods to extend your trip, fire the $500 satellites into the $5k Aria Poker Masters, and go Free Willy on the sharks.

Congratulations on the tourney run!

I slept pretty good last night but not for long soon as I hit the pillow I was out. But I got up about 5:30 cuz I had to take a leak. Usually I'm up far before then because of my body clock. Once I had my morning Mountain Dew I decided to go take a little hike I walked the other way down the strip down towards the fountain blue but I didn't quite get that far. I'm usually anxious to get breakfast by 6:00 a.m. but I wasn't hungry at all after 11:00 p.m. pizza and beer last night.

I got back just in time for the pool opening so I went down there for about an hour I didn't stay longer than that because it was just hotter than balls already. But here's a promised picture.

This was my vantage point. I just wanted to get some early morning sun. The Venetian Palazzo have a huge pool complex running from one resort to the other. But right now all the ones by the Venetian are broken up into these little pool areas like the one shown. I think they did this so they can get more money out of reserve seating and Cabanas and that kind of stuff.

After the pool I got cleaned up and hit Grand Lux for breakfast. And he had the breakfast quesadilla which is very good. This is my go-to Mexican breakfast item since they took huevos rancheros off of the menu.

I think I'll head down to the poker room now and try to get into a cash game. When I walked by there they had quite a few going so it shouldn't be too much of a problem getting a seat.

You're shitting on lots of the pics I'm going to post in my own thread but I'll forgive you 😉

What was the horrific bad beat in the tournament?

What was the horrific bad beat in the tournament?

The final table bad beat just before the break went as follows button shoves I'm in the big blind and I have him well covered. I call we flip our cards over and I've got Ace Jack he's got Ace eight. Jack Hits the flop but by the river his eight turns into a straight. So if I could have won that hand I would have had a much better position going into the rest of the final table.

A couple other hands that stood out were a big double up with Ace Jack versus 99. My jacket on the Flop and it put me in pretty good shape from there on out. The other memorable hand was against a sort of semi-famous Poker player. Boski the poker vlogger was at my table just before the second break. I think he was a late registration. He seemed to play pretty good very tight but very opportunistic. He seemed to play the kind of game that I like to try to play. He was building his stack pretty well. The hand in question I was in the big blind. There was a big stack who raised maybe 50% of the hands but only two times. So we were playing 2k/4k/4k blinds and he raised to 8K Boski to his left called and with KK I raised the 35k the big stack folded and Boski went all in for about 5k more. I of course called and my Kings beat his Ace queen.

Like I said those were the hands that really stood out but most of the tournament was really a blur.

I played a couple hours down at the Venetian and it didn't really go too well I couldn't get anything going. I ended up cashing out down $37. Then I decided it was time to take another little bubble craps shot and that didn't work either I ended up losing $56. I'm just going to chill in the room for a little while watching the business news as it looks like the market is getting hammered today.

Boski! he is THE preeminent tourney vlogger

Yup. I was the proverbial nail.

I used to watch all of the bloggers but haven't in maybe the last 4 or 5 years. When he first sat down I thought this guy looks familiar then when I heard him talk it clicked.

Sitting in poker chairs for 10 hours in a day those wonders for my back although not good ones. So on my way to play at the Venetian this afternoon I decided to stop in the Grand Canal shops to get a chair massage. It felt great but I feel like I need another one already. I played for about three or four hours and was doing real well for a while until I ran into a hand that hurt me. I think I played it right but maybe you guys can tell me I played it wrong.

I'm in the big blind with 10 Jack Suited. There's one guy that raises to 12 and a caller. Flop comes out 9 10 Queen. It's a rainbow flop and I have middle pair and an open ender. Since I'm first to act I grabbed $30 and bet that. Guy to my left shows all in for $228. Guy on his left shoves all in for about $210. So the question is should I call. If it was just the initial shovel I think it would be a tough choice. But with two of them I think it's an easy call so I made that call. I also missed that draw. So that turned what was a pretty good session into a $90 loser.

I was really starting to get hungry so I figured it'd be a good time to go grab some dinner. It's nothing else I am predictable and repetitive. So I went and grabbed a dinner that if you've seen any of my other trip reports have seen before. Went to the Yardbird for fried chicken and cornbread and it was absolutely delicious. Another thing I like about Yardbird is they have Fat Tire Ale which is one of my all-time favorite beers.

I think I'm going to try to walk off that dinner a little bit and then play one more session tonight but not too late. I have to get my body clock back on Chicago time because I've got a really horrid flight Friday morning. My flight leaves at 5:05 a.m. I would have never booked this flight but it's the one I got. I had initially booked I think a 7:30 a.m. flight which is perfect for me. But about a month after I had booked this trip Southwest came back to me and said that my flight had been changed the 505 flight. Typically this wouldn't be a problem because if I'm on Chicago time if my body clock doesn't adjust that will be no problem. But going so late in that tournament last night kind of screwed me up so I got to get back on early to bed early to rise. Hopefully I can do it I still plan on playing the $600 Bounty tournament tomorrow at the Venetian and if that goes late that'll screw me up again. But if I go deep into a tournament I'm happy with that.

JT hand, I'm guessing you were up against an over pair (or set) and two pair. the call was optimistic, one I would not have made

First to act I think I would've checked. Why not take a free card if you can get it?

What did the winner have?

Great job on that final table!!

I was really tired last night after dinner I walked around for a while to try to burn a few of those calories off and then I decided to take one more shot at poker. I wasn't really feeling it though and I only sat at the table for about two rounds before I picked up and left. I think I lost $22. I was very tired and I just wanted to go up to the room and relax a little and try to get an early night sleep.

The crap view rooms at the Venetian have sort of been upgraded due to the sphere.

I find myself staring at that damn thing all the time 😀 anyway I already had a nice long walk this morning. Gonna go walk some after watching the market open. Plan on doing a late breakfast around 10am and the the $600 Bounty tournament which starts at 11:10. It pays $200 for every Bounty until the money when it pays $500 per bounty and a prize pool on top of that. I have never played in one of these before and really sure how or if strategy should be adjusted?

Not that I believe in luck or anything but on Monday when I finished 6th in the tournament I was wearing the same shirt I wore last trip when I finished 6th in a Wynn daily. Today? Today I will be wearing the same shirt and hat that I wore when I had a good score in a Wynn daily 2 years ago.

I am sure there's nothing to it, but why risk it 😀

Username checks out!

Just carbo loaded a massive breakfast that will last me until late in the evening if this tourney goes well. I had the French toast at Grand Lux. It's huge! Also very tasty. But with that gut bomb in me I shouldn't be very hungry for a while.

Just gonna walk that off a little until tourney time. 30 minute levels like Wynn but 40k starting chips instead of 25k so this could be deep and last late if I am lucky enough to get there.
