Yes. TI across the street has one

More of the winning sessions, fewer of the losing!

Thanks very much for taking time to write up your experience.

Like I said before I was going to try some different food this trip. I wanted so.e Italian food and since I am at The Venetian where they have about 35 Italian restaurants where could b e better 😀. My goto Italian in Vegas is Bautistas but I didn't want to hoof it down there. So I ended up getting confused and not going where I planned. Plan was to go to this place

But instead I went to this place just across from it.

Any way it was good. I had the chicken parm and it was delicious

Just slid 100 into stadium baccarat and will be here until it gone or doubled. Hope the drink girl comes soon!

The folding seems to go on forever when I run into KK. I raise to 12 and once the guy on my left raises to 35. All he has seen is me fold everything and look weak. But this time reraise to 100 which he folded to. But the very next hand was the big one. Utg straddles to 6. I call with A10. Somebody behind me raises to 20 and 3 guys call so I do to. Flop was beautiful with both a A and a 10. The bets started flying and it came down to me and one other. I bet 100 on the turn and he went all in. No

wait, you got AT and flopped two pair... and won?
didn't know that was allowed

Well? The baccarat didn't work? My foolproof system is a pressing system counting on strong bank runs. As you can see from these stats that didn't happen!

Maybe tomorrow? But probably not. At least I did get 2 beers which I tipped a dollar for. Is 51 dollars per beer a lot? Gambling is for sucker's😀

Looking forward to so.e more early am poker. Those games are great!

Played another early morning session but only for about an hour before the game broke. Game was good with a couple of live ones but when they left the game got crappy. Anyway I was in for 300 and out for 340. Decided to get some steps in and come back to check news. Will likely be heading back down soon as there were a couple other games going.

Went back down for another hour or so before breakfast. Similar session to yesterday as folded, folded again and then folded some more. Every time I got invved I missed badly.

I finally got AK in late position and raised to 12. 2 callers. FlopTQK so I hit top pair but a scary board. I bet 25 and get check raised to 75. I think he may have a set or straight but also that he has seen me do nothing but fold. I decide to call. Turn is a J giving me nuts. He shoves? I call and not sure what he had but it didn't beat A high straight. Was getting hungry so left shortly for some food. I was in for 300 and out for 380 so another quick hit.

Already had all of my must have breakfasts so I just got pancakes and bacon which was tasty.

Now gonna go get my steps in before I hit it again.

That's a funny looking beer with your pancakes :-)

Loving the TR so far!

Had a long tough day at the cash today. Card dead and made a lot of second places. Played for 4ish hours and dumped $267. Still cash has been pretty good this trip. I am kinda pokered out right now. Gonna grab dinner and then pack for my early flight home tomorrow morning.

After that horrid session I was hungry and had a craving for pizza. I was thinking about trying one of the multitude of Italian places at the V who all have pizza. Then I said screw that and went my old time favorite Grimaldis. Had the green pepper onion calzone and it was awesome as always.

Like I said I pokered out. Cash was good tourneys bad. Now gonna pack have few beers sleep and go home. I write a more detailed wrap up when I get home.

glad you had a nice trip

Great trip!

Thanks for this write up!

Have a nice trip back home.

Just about ready to head to airport. Got up plenty early enough for another early am poker session but have poker fatigue. I figured I could have a crappy overpriced airport breakfast or hit the late night menu at Grand Lux. I went with good old bacon and eggs and it was good.

I had done just about no gambling this trip. Just 2 baccarat sessions and 2 bubble craps sessions. Baccarat bad and craps good for breaker even. After breakfast I decided I would take one more craps shot. But it was roped off as they were cleaning. So I slid 20 into a random slot machine and hit some sort of bonus on the second spin. I won $84 and cashed that out. Trip is over heading to airport!

Thanks for taking us with, mrb!

Nice hit out the door. Thanks for reporting.

Really appreciate your sharing your trip with us! I can't imagine being pokered out in Vegas 😉 Glad the last gamble hit!

Thanks for the report!

Wrap up

Thanks all for following along, I enjoy doing these! Made it home safe and sound! It was a great trip but as always coulda been better. I always try to break up the midwestern winter with a Vegas trip. Not that its warm in Vegas in January it's just not below zero 😀

Poker
The poker was good and bad. Cash was pretty good. At least until that last session 😀 I ended up $700ish in cash and only had 2 down sessions. I am really liking playing the early morning cash games (3-7 am) that coincide perfectly with my body clock. On future trips I plan to lean into this rather than fight trying to get on Vegas time. The normal daytime games suck in comparison.

Tournaments (my favorite!) didn't work. The first one was typical tourney where stuff just doesn't work and the situation simply gives you no chance. Ahh, but that second tourney was a soul crusher. I was in position and playing well when I just lost all focus and blew it. I had a few negative flips against short stacks but that is to be expected and only 10% of my downfall. 90% of it was self inflicted wounds. I was trying to hard to make moves and make things happen. That just isn't my style and I ended up destroying myself. Not sure why I did it but for some reason I did? My style is what I call cockroach poker. Lay low, stay in the shadows, grab some crumbs when you can but above all else survive! Eventually the light will be on with food everywhere and nobody else around. Instead I tried to dictate the game rather than follow its flow. I'd like to say I won't make that mistake again but I am sure I will. I love tourneys and letting this one slip away still hurts.

Venetian
I really like the Venetian hotel as a place to stay. Love the food options and I purposely stayed away from some of my favorites this trip. I really like the new poker room too. I was there last September when it first opened and I liked it immediately back then. Now that its been open for a while it is still well run and very active. Lots of games going and almost never much of a wait. I like staying there because they also always have some sort of deep stack series going and despite losing 600 in tourney entries they are still my favorite version of poker although they can be exhausting. But I like this end of the strip best for Venetian and Wynn tournaments.

Gambling
Didn't really gamble much at all (by design). Did 2 bacarrat session which sucked (-180ish) and 2 bubble crap sessions (+140ish) and then that slot hit this morning was the only time I put any money in those bastards.

So it was a good trip. Didn't really make much money but didn't lose any. The tournament still gnaws at me because it wasn't bad beats or bad flips but bad play. I'll probably be back in spring but who knows?

Thanks for sharing. I completely sympathize with the tournament frustrations. The reality of tournaments is that a player cannot possibly put in enough volume on one trip (or even in one year) to get the results they "deserve". You can massage the odds, but ultimately you are always going to be a prisoner of the deck. I try as much as possible to emotionally detach myself from the outcomes and just focus on the process. Easier said than done!

Pretty good description of my game too. I like that name, cockroach poker.

If I was sure I got the results I deserve, I'd never play poker again. I just hope for a hot run. I've had short hot runs, like 3 or 4 good hands in an hour, but my luck always runs out short of the FT. Sometimes I've built a big enough stack to get to the FT, but never arrived with a big stack.

thanks for the TR and glad you had fun
