I actually watched this video. The total lack of self awareness for decades as well as delusions about his poker ability have left him in a terrible place. Pure cautionary tale. In his 50s grinding dirt stakes with a 150 dollar stack in nit filled games to get into a free roll.
Even as smug and pompous as Nomad is at least he's slowly realizing he needs to deal if he doesn't want to end up homeless.

You get 1 meal per shift, the window starts 1 hour before shift and extends to 1 hour after you clock out. You don't get both. lol
Obvious solution is to grind the rest of the hours at 4/8 LHE where he can chase straight flushes without having to put his whole stack in.
But trooper has too much pride to humble himself in a white chip game; plus it’s tougher to chase losses $8 at a time
LHE has more variance than NL.

I thought Rice went to the Orleans EDR more than once a day?
Maybe he was on a double shift, in which case he would get a meal for each shift.
When I dealt many years ago in a big busy room, the EDR was the break room for all breaks. Snacks, coffee, soda, etc. were always provided but you used your badge to go thru the actual food line only 1 time per shift.
LV rooms might have a completely separate break area and EDR only for eating your 1 meal. I don't know.
No chance that Rice limits himself to one dining session per shift. From his explanation of the EDR rubric it is clear he intends to utilize it for a full leisurely feast before and after his shifts. As well as multiple random spot checks during breaks to see if any restaurant delicacies have made their way over.
He seems resigned to the fact that he won't be able to visit at other times through the day when not working, but other than that he will be spending as much time as possible. Heck he made it his mission to dine there even during Orientation day. Quite the feather in his cap, I would imagine. His whole face lights up whenever talking on the subject of free food.

speculation that his gf helps him out financially. Even if this isn't true the worse
that could happen is he goes back to being a waiter or a poker dealer.
T's latest session losses are completely depressing... its easy to see how much they hurt him.
One of the biggest hurdles to cross is being able to completely remove emotions from gaming.
At horseshoe they deal LHE 9 handed and NL is 8 max .
So the effect of the massive rake is less at LHE
And they have a high hand promo which favors limit players;
and double comps and tier credits so he can get closer to having free parking.
And probably the most important factor- trooper is terrible at NLHE

The take out was discontinued at MGM Grand. This was the ideal Nomadic buffet since ELD could load up on sausages and then take the monorail directly back to Harrah's and have meats for the entire week to supplement to his rice cooked via the rice cooker. At that point there would be no need to leave the Harrah's room for several days and just stay in bed with the do not disturb sign posted watching Trooper videos and King of Queens.
