Does anyone know? Does he still play poker?
I thought he was arrested for being scammer and other unsavory things. I can’t seem to find any information online.
Where did Sammy get his money? When he took us to dinner in late 2009, he claimed to be an international trader who also took care of footballers’ contracts. There was some exaggeration here – Sammy liked to talk himself up – but he certainly owned a few low level businesses around town. Most of his money, however, was borrowed from poker players who he never paid back (including Tom Dwan, allegedly to the tune of $750k). Then “Any Two” disappeared. Apparently he was spotted a few years ago in a London poker club playing £1-£2. Since then, nothing. If you do bump into him, however, probably best not to spot him a loan

Was afraid he was banned, but https://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/303/a...

Doug Lee?
When I first started playing, there was a player from my hometown that was crushing MTTs. What ever happened to AJKHoosier1?

I remember he was a really good online reg I believe. It’s crazy to see people like this that don’t play much live or have a huge hendon mob. I feel live poker is so easy compared to online mtts- variance is still brutal etc but just seems a little less variance bc skill edge is bigger and fields are smaller than the crazy big Sunday mtts from back in the solid online days.
jonathan duhamel?
last hendon mob entry in 2018

Former world champion Jonathan Duhamel made a surprising confession on the first day of the hearing of his dispute with the tax authorities: he hasn't played poker for three years. He says he quit because he was afraid of losing the rest of the millions he won early in his poker career, especially when he won the World Series in 2010.
"I hardly play anymore. I still have some investment income. Before I lost everything, I almost stopped playing. I play about five times a year recreationally, but that's it," Jonathan Duhamel said before the Tax Court of Canada. He explained that he stopped poker for two reasons. "I lost a lot of money [millions of dollars] in 2013 and 2014. I also had my children, which led me to review my priorities. »
I played a daily ($200) with Doug Lee at the Wynn/Encore a month ago. He moved to my table with about 20-30 left out of around 90 starting. He had a middling stack and wore bright red shades. I felt like I recognized him and then he preceded to play extremely reckless.
For whatever reason he decided to get about 30bb by call then back raise a tight player all in after the tight player 3 bet. 3 bettor had AK and Lee had A9d I believe. He busted, and guy I'd been chatting with all tournament said "that guy played on TV a couple times". I immediately recognized who he was and said "was that Doug Lee?" I'll be damned he confirmed it was. Older gentleman i was chatting with told me he plays there a lot with him so Lee is still quite active.
His table presence is very odd, unexplainable. He def has some unwarranted hubris. I believe this could also be someone labeled a "toolbox".

I've been watching some old main events on YouTube the last couple of months when I have free time. From 2013 to 2019 I kinda put poker down outside of the occasional vegas trip or home game. I just lost track and now I realize a lot of the guys i "grew up" watching through my late teens and 20s are old now.
It's interesting to see that a lot of these guys are gone off the circuit. Or they play occasionally but rarely cash but I see a lot just haven't played in 7 or 8 years. I think poker got tough, they never really reconsidered their game and they just aren't sun running anymore. I imagine it's kind of a combination of these things and they just retired. I guess some moved on or some were old enough they just sit there and make small passive income. Sad to see but time passes quickly.
Related to this, I saw an episode with Kyle Kerenan (sp?) And looked at his Hendon. I noticed he hadn't cashed in 6 years and figured oh, I guess he moved on. But nope, he died in 2020 right after covid began. Anybody know what happened?
Dwan mentioned on an ACR stream few days back that he never got paid out from that match. From a quick google of his name he disappeared shortly after the match with plenty of posts online about how he scammed loads of other people.

Roland De Wolfe?
use the search function before asking next time 😀
crazy to read how, no matter how high you fly, the game gets you in the end. no remorse, no exceptions. you fall off the cutting edge and get swallowed up.
why the **** do we play this game
For many of us it's not becoming losers, playing low and well enough. And haven't heard Patrik Antonius losing his money.
The dream lives on.
sometimes i leave the radio on to see what songs are playing and every once in awhile ill get caught off guard by one of their songs that they played that was a throwback and then i get embarrassed everyone heard the same song that i heard
