Is there still pressure to open up online in the US again?

I know, some states blah blah. But with this wacky administration tearing up regulations and federal departments left and right, surely there's more of a possibility of the UIGEA being removed and Don could be given a few backhanders / compliments to lubricate the wheels.

One thing that would do it would be if it was discovered that playing small stakes poker staved off Alzheimer's to a greater degree than other puzzles or games.

Big Pharma would be thrilled by that discovery. Plus online poker sites launder money for terrorists.

Miriam Adelson is Trump's 2nd biggest donor. I love how tearing up regulation and government department is "whacky" and "corrupt" though.

None of what is being done in our government now is going to save significant amounts of money in the long run.

Elon and Trump will continue to say “look at all the cuts we are making!” without making even a subtle mention of how much money cutting these programs costs the country.

It’s a dog and pony show. That’s why it’s whacky and corrupt as a prior poster said - all this is being done in a very disingenuous way but Trump’s voters are so dumb they just eat it up.

On the topic of this thread, neither side is great for online poker, but it’s really obvious which party is making a legitimate effort to regulate it.

I guess the dumb voters voted for the smart politicians and the smart voters voted for the dumb politicians. It's a bit of a head scratcher logically. Smart people often take advantage of dumb people. The left has just overplayed their hand socially and are objectively as corrupt as the right. It may be a dog and pony show that only dumb people believe, but the fundamental idea that government beurocracy should only expand and never shrink is a very bad idea as well.

How will America survive if Peru doesn't get it's $500,000 transgender twerking opera grant?

The fact you (and others) actually believe this … among other crazy things … perfectly illustrates the point I was trying to make.

Most of the US budget is social security, health programs, and defense. That’s 60% of it.

In comparison, very little is spent in other categories … and the “other” categories are mostly where the cuts have been happening. The cuts they’re making are a drop in the bucket considering the debt goes up over $50,000 every second. There really isn’t much in the budget that can be cut without having negative effects which indirectly costs money or worsens national security.

I’ve been resisting responding, and I’m not going to respond to anything else about the non poker politics in this thread because it’s already derailed enough.

Ideally yeah. But nobody really cares anymore. It's been almost 14 years since Black Friday and we are barely anywhere closer to what we need. Sad

Agree with this. I find it odd that sports wagering has been ok’d but online poker is “bad”. I feel it would be easy tax money for the government but idk? I think the whole states legalizing it separately makes it more difficult. As more states allow it, more will pass it but it’s taking so much damn time.

Idk online poker looks bad now kinda with real time assistance also. I never see poker getting back to the 2005-2010 time bc it’s easy to become solid and cheat using rta per se. Poker needs to be legal throughout the US and world and have big providers like tilt/ stars that offer a great schedule where you got big mtt gtns and field sizes.

I don't think that online poker is seen as bad as much as there a lot more companies that see how much money you can make on sports betting and pushing the parlay dream then trying to run a poker room. Its as simple as that.

Without having to jump through a ton of hoops to have a state wide player pool and also having no access to the world wide field of players there just isn't a great amount of profits to be made in online poker. Unless you are company that is truly interested in poker and wants to do all the leg work for the ones just sitting around.

No politics in NVG.
