This was an interesting tweet/post by Sean McCormick which I though might be worth some discussion:

The reason why casinos should not stay out of it is that sometimes you'll have several people at the same table who are all part of the same staking group. This can affect the integrity of the games, and that's a potential problem.

Yea, and its bullshit. I've run into it on a few occasions and I guess its just part of being aware of your surroundings.

I mean, where do you the draw the line as alluded to by the guy who said ban criminals etc?

Yeah, that's a different topic and something potentially worthy of discussion. That could lead to potential collusion and that would definitely upset other players at the table. If I'm playing in a cash game or a tournament and a guy I'm in a hand against owes Tony soprano money from his last stake I don't really care.

Unless I missed something, this was about whether horses that owe money to their backers should be banned or restricted from playing

Thats a completely different issue to the one in your OP.

I dont want player A and B on the same table as me to be part of the same staking arrangement. I dont give a single f if player C on my table owes money to his backer.
