I think it is pretty clear.
Sklansky is a both a brilliant poker theorist and an absolutely horrible human being. Fundamental Theory of Poker is still one of the most foundational books about poker. No one will ever be able to take that away from him.
What is also true is that he is truly a very despicable human being. Literally among the worst of the worst. His death might be regretted by those closest to him ( i am really sorry Matt), but it is also pretty inarguable that from a human perspective the world is a better place without him.
As for Mason, he is an autistic asshole who was more than willing to look the other way in order to make it further in the world than he was personally capable of. Almost all of his posts talking about Sklansky plead ignorance despite the fact that their life threads were closely tied. Mason is both severely emotionally lacking and deserving of scorn from a humanitarian perspective.
It really sucks that oftentimes lifetime brilliance is so tied to being an asshole.

There’s a reason statutory rape laws exist. Even a mother can’t vouch/permit the rape of her 16yo daughter by some ~60yo dirtbag.
Couple this with his encouragement of Brandi to kill herself, he truly won’t be missed by many.

Quagmire here, most states (30, including Nevada) the age of consent is 16. Co-habitating with a 16 year old unemancipated minor might be an issue however it wouldn't be rape.

The consent of the mother, ironically, makes this look a bit like sex trafficking. I'm not going to go research Nevada law but in my state (16 is also age of consent here) this fact pattern is more likely than not (depending on specifics) a ten year mandatory minimum. Per act.
If the adult in question ever helped the parent with any sort of financial issue, well, yikes. That might be too hard to explain to a jury when the mom is aware of a sexual relationship with her minor child then gives away effective custody of that minor and just happens to get paid. I'd like my chances prosecuting that one.
Most sex trafficking is parents selling their children for these purposes. Age of consent isn't usually relevant to that crime, but who knows in Nevada. Maybe selling off children over 16 is hunky-dory there.

Perhaps thats the problem with some people here. Do they get so obsessed with poker that they start to see everything and everyone as probabilities and EV? Because with that view exploiting makes sense. I (try to) exploit other poker players every day.

Is it confirmed that they only had sex in Nevada? Young people really like visiting places like the Grand Canyon or Universal Studios that are relatively close to Las Vegas. Don't know if David posted the full itinerary.

Good point. California is an 18yo consent state. Not including Romeo & Juliet situations, but this obv would not apply to a ~60yo Sklansky.
Brandi's life EV went way down when she got involved with Sklansky.
I wonder if any of the white knights here have ever really tried to help a mentally ill, emotionally unstable woman.
