General TV Discussion and Thread for Shows Without A Thread Thread

OOTV doesnt like family comedies much huh? Raising Hope and The Middle are two of the best(possibly the best outside of NBC)comedies on tv yet no threads.

Just an observation.

I’m interested in where the scifi goes. I dont care about or like a single character I don’t think.

Just did a catalogue of my DVD collection as it is hard now remembering when I go into a DVD store what I'm missing.

Obviously need GoT (season 1) and BB (seasons 2 and 3) which I thought I had and then others like Twin Peaks season 2 - part 2 but anything seriously else?

I do for some just watch straight on streaming and don't bother but will also get House of the Dragon season 1 and Succession season 4 (although seen them both on streaming).

is six feet under rewatchable, i've been considering that for a while

goat show imo

Watched the first episode of Ripley. I'm not convinced black and white was the right choice. The beauty of the Amalfi coast is somewhat lost withoit colour. A wide shot of a boat at sea isn't as striking as it should be.

Interesting article for those watching 3bp:

Wow that's nuts. He wasn't messing about!

He set up a lab in a suburb of Shanghai and bought more than a hundred toxins on the dark web to experiment with, often testing mixed poisons on cats, dogs and other pet animals. He then made the lethal substances into a pill, gifting the “probiotic pills” to Lin, Caixin reported.

According to Phoenix News, a Chinese news outlet, Xu held 160 cellphone numbers and set up a trading company in Japan to acquire hazardous chemicals, including the substances he used to poison his colleagues.

I seriously didn't even know they still released new stuff on DVD?

When my parents gave me a DVD of old family videos last year I had to watch it in the backseat of the car on the kids video system.

Re Six Feet Under, I rewatched a couple episodes recently when my wife watched it and was entertained. Didn't care too much for it when I first watched it 20 years ago.

Yeah, I finally got around to wanting to watch Westworld recently only to discover it's not on any streaming service. Had to go buy a bluray player off Facebook marketplace and check it out at the library.

I was aware that BlueRay is still around 😀 Looked up some numbers and DVD apparently has roughly 50% market share among physical media with the other 50% split between BD and 4K UHD. So what exactly is the benefit of DVD over 4K UHD other than it probably being cheaper?

FWIW, Westworld is the perfect example of a show where I support pirating it 100%. They took it off MAX to sell it to Tubi or whatever which is absolutely ridiculous.

Yeah, my last free trial of Max was pretty much only to watch Westworld. I couldn't believe it wasn't on there. That was the first time I've ever seen an HBO original not be available. Was especially shocking since it was such a popular show.

It is one that I have considered also returning to but you have to be in the right mindset for it.

Is Deadwood, Six Feet Under and Carnivale on Max?

Deadwood and Carnival is. Not sure about Six Feet Under since it’s on Netflix.

if you're ok with illegal streams, all those shows are quite easy to find if you don't mind closing 2-3 popup ads every hour

I think the shows that went to Netflix are still on MAX. Pretty sure about Six Feet Under, Sex and the City and Ballers at least.

That makes sense. I had Max until recently and I really only got it to see Luck. I was glad Netflix got Insecure so I could finally see it. Max’s interface sucks so I rarely touched it.

I went back to dvds because of the bait&switch streaming service garbage. It helps that stores are almost giving them away.

Streaming is great for stuff I just want to casually watch once. For anything I know I'm going to be rewatching again and again for years, I still like having an unrestricted copy on my hard drive. You never know when things will disappear from streaming services or get edited from their original form, either George Lucas style or due to the prevailing political climate. Ripping discs is still the easiest (legal) way to combat that, plus they often include bonus content you can't find on streaming.

I just finished episode 5 of 3 Body Problem. Can't wait to watch episode 6! So good!

This series is great.

I didn't realize Fallout starts tomorrow. They already renewed it!

I think it comes out the 11th or the 12th. Super excited! Looks like they are trying to do the franchise justice

Nope. They moved it up to the 10th.

Really excited for Fallout, games are pretty great. And this show has to be atleast somewhat decent with Walton Goggins starring

Agreed! Walton can make a bad show good on his own!

by BadLieutenant k

Nope. They moved it up to the 10th.

It was the 12th, then they moved it to the 11th, now the 10th. Yet when I load up Amazon there is nothing. No 'coming soon' banner, no 'starting today', literally nothing.

What a fumble

Google says the release is 6pm PT

Ya not amazing. The algo also totally missed feeding me this, while it feeds me utter garbage. I found it out from other spots.
