General TV Discussion and Thread for Shows Without A Thread Thread
OOTV doesnt like family comedies much huh? Raising Hope and The Middle are two of the best(possibly the best outside of
Yea, some of the recaps for the latest are insane the detail they see, everything means something, license plate, numbers on a paper, nothing is random.
With that said... I think the last episode would have fit in perfectly in a traditional 20+ episode season. In a nine episode season, it seemed a little bit of a waste. I still enjoyed it.
i think Pluribus is way too highly rated
Its decent at best, nothing at all thats happened in the episoded released is remotely top tier.
Take away the fact VG wrote it and ibet a lot of peoples opinions would be different
Dont get me wrong im watching its and its got a decent storyline but this is a money maker project imo (theyre trying to make a 8 season show) the fact they drag each episode out with that stupid answer machine message i mean we get it we dont need to sit through it everytime. And if she had half a brain she would request that the message be shortened to "hi carol please leave a message"
Like we just wasted a whole hour on the latest episode imo that coulda been 10mins of footage.
its a 6 or 7/10 so far me some episodes were better than others but people saying its top tier after a few episodes is madness.
I really want to like Pluribus alot more, and while its pretty good, its just painfully slow last few episodes.
Fallout Season 2 this week! S1 was great, and im happy they are going with weekly episodes this time around.
The pacing is intentionally slow but it does take an highly advanced intellect to appreciate it.
I could do without the Cooper and girl storyline, complete bs. She got a large settlement and shortly later she is getting a job slinging drinks in a rough bar. lolHer new boyfriend possibly strikes it rich with oil find and instantly says its half hers. lolThen after that he doesn't call her back quick enough when he is out busting his ass and she threatens to throw him out. l
This is "trad wife"/maga porn. "our women are so tough, they need to work even if they have no qualification and just received tons of cash and their boyfriend made millions!
im not a leftist, im just saying, thats what it is
i am rewatching the OC will falling asleep (after finishing the godawful one tree hill)
There is just no ***** way in hell any family would keep ryan with how hes responding/acting the first few days. I cant believe it made sense when we were young. Weird!
but the rest of the show is so fun.
Working s rodeo show this week. All the women working it look like they came off the Landman set.
Oke, while i love Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, Pluribus is just plain boring after the pilot.
Im sure im missing alot of hidden messages and highly intelligent storytelling that youtubers make 1 hour videos about after each episode but i dont care. Its to slow, boring to watch and way to much up its own ass.
Bravo Vince i guess
RIP Ziggy.
Damn wife and two kids, that sucks. He was great in Generation Kill too.
Suneater series ...first book empire of silence. 6 books out now, book 7 coming up will be end of the series.
most epic scifi i've ever read (and i read scifi for 25+ years now)
thank me later
ps: i read 3 body problem also, was ok, interestingly i thought the tv show was almost better
Suneater crossed my radar recently somewhere, though I can't find or remember where. Going to give it a shot next, assuming 7 checks out to be coming soon. George Martin and Robert Jordan made sure I don't start long series' without an ending in sight anymore. I've started a reread of Stormlight Archive in anticipation of book 5 coming out in a couple of days.
Took your advice and started this. Now almost halfway through the final book which just came out last month. Thanks for the recommendation. It's good. Never considered quitting. I'm not sure I'll ever reread it, but definitely worth reading, for me.
I started this series too. I liked the first book a lot, and maybe the second and third were ok. but I gave up. I might pick it back up again.
I don't think these are really spoilers, but part of what bothered me about it...
Spoiler
I took the time and energy to get to know the characters in the first book, and then they're just gone? seemed like maybe they might come back later. but I didn't want to get to know tons of characters who just disappear
The most disrespected character of any show. Worst character ever on first watch. Most underrated character on second watch. RIP big penis.
It's weird because his character did try to kill himself and the actor/show made that character's decision totally believable.
I wonder how much he related to that character. I doubt the actor shares Ziggy's general incompetence, but that recklessness and spiraling downwards mental state are something that I think the actor may have shared with Ziggy.
Have to disagree on the consensus Pluribus take here. I have some minor gripes with the writing of the finale but it's firmly in my top 10 seasons of TV of all time. A+ work on acting, character writing, and cinematography.
Great season of television. Gilligan has said he has at least 4 seasons of story. Please be faster than Severance.
Pluribus finale was bad. Pilot was great, after that the whole season could have been a 2 hour movie if that. This has to be the most self indulgent up its own ass show i have ever seen.
Rhea Seehorn is amazing though, so i'll be back in 2 years for season 2 to rage on it some more
Pluribus finale was such a let down, what was that shit? Not watching season 2.

wow i missed these posts. I went on goodreads and got excited. Im working through "The Stand" from King and it feels pretty good. I've been reading only stuff based on history(Emperor series, Last kingdon series and his 3 books on Merlin and Arthur) for 2 years. Gonna be a nice change of pace

I'm about to reread The Stand for probably the 5th time or so. The trigger for me was the new anthology King has allowed of short stories based in The Stand universe. If you love The Stand like I do, maybe move right into this:

coolio, ill get on it when i finish the book. Was gonna jump into that scifi series but since im really liking even the painful part of the book, im guessing i'll be more interested in going full anthology.
Just wanted to gloat that Red Letter Media agrees with me that Pluribus is fantastic.
Regarding Pluribus, I can see how some people might think it's too slow but nobody does "slow" as good as Vince Gilligan imo. I'm gutted that it might be two years before we get season 2, I haven't looked forward to each episode, and now season, since Breaking Bad
