Stuck Inside of August with the Memphis Blues Again LC Thread
A thread got stuck in a spin,
While August kept blowing right in.
I asked Mr. Jones,
He texted in tones:
"The answerβs a bootleg from '69, friend."
I was so much older than, I’m younger than that now.
with no one to complain to about your aching feet
or on a frozen rotted road
when you get half crazy from the august heat
always be a man not a boy gone astray
never let it slip away
take a silver dollar and put it in your pocket
while rewounding the endless high ways of robbie mcrobberson
all you children going my way
better tell your home life sweet goodbye
Wondering why nobody is ever combobulated or gruntled?
My favorite Dylan performance.
Interesting choice. I really like 1976 Dylan.
This is my favorite from that same era -

looks like he got tangled up in kelp and blew a seal
Spoiler
Here is a song inspired by Bob Dylan's "Tangled Up In Blue," but with a seal's perspective:
Tangled Up In Kelp (a Seal's Tale)
Verse 1
Early one morning, the sun on the water gleamed bright,
A seal lay on a rock, wondering if she'd changed with the light.
If her coat was still sleek and dark, like the deep ocean's hue,
Her kin they'd barked, "This life together, it's bound to be tough."
They never approved of the seal's easy swim, its hunt for fish not enough.
And it was hauled out on the tide's edge, spray chilling its nose,
Heading out to the open sea, heaven knows it's paid some dues,
Navigating the currents, tangled up in kelp.
Verse 2
She was diving deep when they first met, in a cavern so cool,
Soon to be alone, her mate lost to the ocean's cruel rule.
The seal came up from the deep, saw her sleek form flash and spin,
Muttered a greeting through the water's roar, felt the pull from within.
She studied the lines on its whiskers, a hint of curiosity in her gaze,
The seal must confess, it felt a tremor, in those deep ocean days,
As she circled close, a ripple through the blue, tangled up in kelp.
Verse 3
They lived on a rocky cove, sheltered from the spray,
There were fish in the waters near, and playful pups in the bay.
Then the big ships came, and nets were cast, something inside them died.
She had to forage far, her spirit shrinking deep inside.
And when finally the catch ran out, the seal felt withdrawn and small,
The only thing it knew how to do, was keep on swimming on, like the tides that ebb and fall,
Through the seaweed beds, tangled up in kelp.
Verse 4
Some seasons later, the seal was traveling the coast,
Met a wise old walrus, who'd seen more than most.
He spoke of the shifting sands, and the wisdom of the deep,
Said, "You know, we all feel the same, but the secrets we keep,"
"Are like barnacles on a shell, clinging close to you, and me too."
And they parted ways on a dark, calm night, both understanding the blue,
Of the endless ocean, tangled up in kelp.
Verse 5
So now the seal is heading back again, it's got to find her somehow.
All the other creatures it's known, they're like shadows to it now.
Some are skilled hunters, some are keepers of the ice,
Don't know how it all got started, don't know what they're doing in this life.
But the seal, it's still on the current, swimming on through the spray,
Hoping to catch a glimpse of her, along the ocean's way,
Forever searching, tangled up in kelp.
Is it August yet?
Quarter past.
It's August but is it august.
anyone else send yourself a text message listing things to remember tomorrow?
The Geezer Tour hit town again last night. This time it was two bands with the opener being Todd Rundgren and the headliner Heart.
I have to admit that when I heard Rundgren was opening I thought "that's cool" but then could only think of three songs he did. I had a feeling that most of his "non-hit" music was just a little bit weird, but really didn't have any specific memories. He played for about an hour and backed up that feeling. Most of the songs gave me an odd feeling of impressionistic jazz mixed up with fairly hard rock. Nothing was bad - I actually enjoyed most of it - but, to me at least, it was just a little odd. His voice wasn't the best, but then again he's 77. When he got to the songs I recognized it was like a totally different band on stage. He did not play Bang the Drum All Day, which would have been a third style of music. All in all, I enjoyed it but would have been slightly disappointed if he was the only artist playing.
After a short break it was time for Heart. With a host of hit songs to choose from, they did not disappoint. Of course the band these days is Ann and Nancy Wilson with a bunch of guys they hired for the tour. Ann's voice, while not as strong as in her youth, was still powerful and on key. She sat on a stool for the entire performance. Apparently a broken elbow she suffered earlier this year is still painful makes it difficult to move around and sing at the same time. So, she just sits to concentrate on the singing. She's 75 so I'll give her a break. Nancy had no such restrictions. She was boppin' all over the stage like the other guitar players. If I did not know she was 71 I would not have guess based on this performance. Besides many of their hits, they included covers of songs by Led Zeppelin, Queen, Bowie, and Van Halen (at least I'm pretty sure two of the guitarist teamed up to do Eruption, if not, it was very similar). Ann and Nancy did a bit of talking between songs that was enjoyable. My favorite was Ann talking about giving Eddie Van Halen an acoustic guitar and then playing her song, 4 Edward.
It was an enjoyable night. Would do it again.
