New fast food discussion/review thread

OK OOT, it's been a while since we had a devoted fast food thread around here and I think it's time we had a new one.

Wow! So they blacklisted your cards in the app (but not in the store) and not your accounts?

It's too bad the King doesn't have a string of casinos.

But as of sometime this year, the cards started working again. 😀 The ban lasted a few years.

Interesting. I started to ask you about that, but I figured you had just replaced the cards or they had been issued new numbers. Probably a software update or something else innocuous by the King's Men. Happy Whoppering!

happy whoppering indeed!

I haven’t been able to use points and redeem an app offer at same time.

I was pleasantly surprised to find last week that BK will let you use an app deal and pay for an item with points in the same order. It even prompted me to use points at checkout when I already had an app deal applied (I wouldn't have even thought to check if I could otherwise). I ended up with a spicy royal wrap (or whatever they call it), a free cheeseburger (+ tomato 25c, + onion free, sub mustard for ketchup free) and a birthday pie slice paid in points for ~$4 total tab.

The King is merciful.

How gross was that pie though?

I wouldn't go as far as gross, just kind of vanilla pudding in a crust. Nothing special certainly.

Now what was pretty good (for a fatso like myself with a sweet tooth) was the LTO sandwich cookie at Jimmy John's I had the other day. Two medium-soft sugar cookies with a super sweet creme filling and sprinkles. I'm sure it's too sweet for many, but I thought it was quite a nice treat after my sandwich.

I let my love of wings and the redhead's push marketing sway me into testing out Wendy's saucy nuggets. They have 4 sauces, with which you can toss their original or spicy nuggets. I tried all four sauces: regular nuggets with Honey BBQ and Buffalo, and spicy nuggets with Garlic Parmesan and Ghost Pepper. They were fine, nothing worth making a point to try. The garlic-parm was basically just a melted butter sauce with a hint of garlic. Buffalo and honey bbq sauces were fine-enough versions. The ghost pepper was my favorite, although they certainly weren't very hot at all, and they had a lot of sweetness to offset what heat was there. Still at least it was the most unique tasting of the 4.

It was 4 saucy nuggets for $2.79. Those plus a $6.59 Dave's single would have run me an absolutely outrageous shade-over-$19 at menu price; however, a 2-for-$6 deal on singles brought my ticket price down to $18.57; and, by only eating half the nuggets each time, I ended up with a decent burger-and-nuggets dinner and next-day lunch for about $9 each. It's a shame that this counts as a good deal these days but these are the times we live in.

(To that end, I discovered that while I generally prefer a Dave's single over a Whopper out of the bag, it turns out the Wendy's burger is way worse than a Whopper the next day. Something about BK translates much much better when microwaved or eaten cold. TIL.)

leaves a bruise when that man Mark_K steps up to fling food vouchers like batarang from a futility belt

pressed to using the red decoder ring for what its worth
leaves a mark when bruce wayne/bat man slaps you with a plastic boomerang

What's your opinion of the Costco food court chocolate chip cookie?

I'm still pissed that Costco took away the churro and I'm unintentionally boycotting it.

macro level assessing next day leftoveredness of burgers is something never considered
let us twist that bag up, dog
shift
and toss evidence across the fence of no offense
while a red wing crow leads anotherwise detritus existence

Preservatives, maybe.

Perfect for a Biggie Bag combo!

Bangkok McDonald's:

Lots of rice porrige on the menu for less than $2 and most Thai people there were eating it.

Obviously I have to do the pepper sauce chicken sandwich and corn pie instead as rice porridge is way too healthy for a mcdo meal.

Results as are expected, should have eaten the rice porridge.

Corn pie: same outer crust as apple, corn filling somewhere between savory and sweet without being either. Taste: 2/10.

Chicken: seemed like the same stuff they press nuggets out of. If I'd known I would have skipped this. Sauce was bland AF. 2.5/10.

Wish I ate there so I could have thrown them both away after a bite and gotten the porridge. 😡

Had chipotle today. Got barbacoa and worker hooked me up big portions of everything.

It was actually really good. And i didnt **** myself on the way home. Win win.

It was terrible, no egg and there was way too much shitty not really mayo sauce and not enough terrible chicken. Besides tasting bad the sandwich and corn pie weren't filling wt all. The clown took me to value village today.

How much to just buy one? 2 bucks? I'd have to get paid more than $6 an hour.

What's that place like? An expensive Taco Bell? It doesn't have a drive-thru so I've never been there.

I used the 50% off menu at my Domino's yesterday, walked home a pan pizza, ham and asiago, $6.99 + tax. Not a bad deal here in the strange world of 2024 ff, still it's chain pizza etc.
