New fast food discussion/review thread

OK OOT, it's been a while since we had a devoted fast food thread around here and I think it's time we had a new one.

Up far too early this AM, stopped in the local Wendy's for a snack around 9. Tried their new english muffin/egg/sausage/cheese sandwich.

It was ok, but not as good as I remember McBurger's being. Something missing, maybe sausage needed more seasoning.

Sound like a blatant ripoff of the sausage mcmuffin w/egg.

so I haven't been to a burger king in 25yrs+

not sure I've ever had a whopper in my life. as a teen I was in love with the BK broiler but never got a burger and then pretty much wrote off BK once they got rid of the BK broiler.

so randomly had a whopper the other day and godamn it was DELICIOUS.
way better than ricks imo and aside from in n out n shake shack which I don't even consider fast food I can't think of a better FF burger I've ever had.

I owe the king a massive apology cuz man that was just an absolutely delicious burger.

I am somewhat curious about the western bacon burger from carls jr both because of this is the end and the first we feast burger show which lavished major praise upon it.

only thing I've ever had from carls is the BBQ chicken sandwich.

what's the best burger at carls/hardees and how does it compare to the whopper?

for the record I don't generally like all kinds of toppings on my burger usually just like them as simple as possible with either lettuce, tomatoes n ketchup+mustard or swiss +teriyaki sauce.

SMwE pretty much the FF BF gold standard imo and better than a lot of diners & coffee shops too.

Haven’t been to Carls in 7-8 years at least. Burgers were ‘fine’ especially the Angus but always a little busy/messy.

IIRC the BBQ chicken was dang good especially with mustard and pickles added.

It's been off the menu for years but like Carl's western burger with bbq and onion rings they used to have a crispy chicken sandwich version of it in the menu. **** was elite but 10/10 difficulty eating it while driving to uni.

This is my food court fast food today. $3.25, Bit too healthy, might need to hit up ricks tomorrow.

Panera is giving 3 months free unlimited sip club for new sign ups through 6/30. Also a free sweet if you are new to the app.

They playin with a 15$ entry point for pick 2 tho. It’s like they expect me to believe they’ve got Five Guys in the back tossing salad!

They do have some soup half sandwich things coming it at ~ 7 bucks which look ok.

Chicken avocado BLT pretty tasty

Back in the day Carls would have a BoGo on the Western Bacon Cheeseburger. Excellent, and Excellent value. Unique flavor. BK had a version for awhile that was close in flavor but not value-wise.

East coast now, so none for me

Hardees! The East coast Carl's.

I had CAVA for the 1st time last night. Pretty good! Lot of food, great sauces. I got the bowl with 1/2 super greens, 1/2 saffron rice and chicken.

The crowd/atmosphere reminded me of old Chipotle. The $12 price made me wince a little.

Check your mail for a free habit burger

Exp 6/30

That Walnut Chicken Salad sando at Panera (formerly Paradise?) was always my goto there. Loved that brown bread.

Oddly enough, both Carl's and the Paradise-> Panera turned into medical adjacent facilities. Carl's is an urgent care (no drive thru) and the Panera is now some chain medical office.

would be amazing if they were run by the same franchisee.
they pay you to get fat then pay you again to get healthy

Man i forgot about the bk broiler. Dumpster dived the mailroom for more coupons

Burger looks smaller than it actually is. Coupon ez redemption

Dumpster dived the mailroom for more coupons

quit the habit cold turkey with those trimmed coupons that don't last past june
doesn't matter thinking you can eat anywhere between two and twelve fried patties in the span of a weakness
a ritual the low have bitched about because historical pork prices

I dunno if it's just nostalgia and my undeveloped teenage palate that makes me remember the BK broiler as the greatest ff item of all time.but man I would pay quite a bit of money if I could get one that was exactly the same as they were originally so I could find out.

riverboatking,

Here's a tip for you.. you can ask for a Whopper/Whopper Jr. "Off the Broiler" and get one freshly made on the spot. Workers are 100% aware of it and they press a button on their register machine. "Off the Broiler" is even shown in words on your receipt.

Happy feasting!

hey thanks!

just curious what does off the broiler mean? is it cooked any different or just code for make it fresh?

the only problem is I unfortunately relay on doordash and uber eats since my accident as I can no longer drive and most of the FF places won't accept any special requests for orders thru the app (so much for have it your way) but I'll def keep that in mind if I'm ever able to make that request.

and lol all the guys who are focused on getting good value would absolutely **** their brains if they saw the markup you have to pay to get a ff order delivered thru the apps.

I've taken advantage of a sweet glitch in doordash special offers tho check this out:

so for BK they're currently offering a free whopper on any order of $15 however here's the jack, they count the cost of the whopper towards that $15 so if you add the whopper to your cart $9.99 (lol yes I know) then add another $5.01 it applies a discount of $9.99 so basically can get a free whopper if you order a large fry.

pretty sweet but it's a limited time offer and once that goes away it becomes pretty laughable to order thru the apps.

If you order your burger “Off The Broiler”, they take a fresh uncooked hamburger (or two, if you get a double), send it thru the broiler conveyor, and in about seven minutes, you get a freshly made hamburger, not one that's been sitting under their heat lamps for God knows how long.

oh nice it's crazy that everyone doesn't request that.
ppl value their time so strangely, won't wait 7min to have a fresh made burger but will stand in line for ridiculously long amount of time to get an item worth $5 for free.

Grats on your BK experience RBK!

I've yet to try a whopper off the broiler; that will be remedied this summer.

Re: Doordash; Can you not order delivery thru the BK app? I just did a test order, I get charges $3 delivery fee plus $2.25 service fee. Also you can use deals in the app. $0 delivery fee for orders over $25. Interesting

Wait till the Angry Whopper comes back for a visit. Jalapenos, etc but not the crazy hot some restaurants do.

Western Bacon from Carl's is also right up there. The BBQ chicken is also one of my faves.

Wow, if they have old school Hardee's I'm envious.
