Cooking a Good Everything Else
Thought I'd take El D's advice and create another thread for cooking discussion, as steak is wonderful, but pork, meatba
Kale shakes for years now. Even got my 6 yr old drinking them.
Throw a few handfuls of kale in a blender, beets, flax seed, frozen berries, bottle of strawberry kombucha, and some water. It tastes like a treat & counts as a salad.
I mush kale up for a bit in a colander with quite a bit of salt and some lemon juice/vinegar to break it down. Then rinse it off. Sometimes can just eat it raw after that.
Crunchy Kale is nice to add to stuff too. Just oil+salt then stick in then oven or airfrier.

That cornbread recipe sounds ridiculously decedent!
I present my last pork chop.dinner. seasoned with Johnny's, put in a cold air fryer temp set at 400f. Learned this method from American.test kitchen.

French style green beans from a.can, small microwaved.tater with sour cream and green onion.
Cranberry sauce, ketchup. Trader joe fries, tossed in the air fryer about when it gets to temp. This way it can soak up that sweet pork fat
Leftover Mexican condiments: radish, cucumber, pickled red onions, creamy green chile.sauce
just bought a burger and you folks are making me hungry already
I love my air fryer. I think chicken thighs and green beans are my favorites. Need to try the pork chops, and might even consider tofu. (Also love my Insta Pot -- I'd never make ribs or coq au vin if I didn't have one (three, actually).)

Air fried pork chops are my go-to bachelor dinner. As much as I love a good roasted chicken, a nice, ideally fatty chop purchased on sale for like $2/lb, is my favorite. Mainly because it cuts like a steak, I think.
The key is to not overcook the chops. I like them just barely in the pink or above range; bringing them to temp from cold is a really great method. Remember, you can always add heat, but can't remove it or its effects. Invest in a thermometer or just learn your air fryer.
I actually own an instapot but havent opened the box yet, lol. Instapot ribs sound interesting; though, if we're talking baby backs, I got fantastic results roasting those in the air fryer.
The other rib cuts? not so much.
Instant pot ribs are great. I can get home from work at 5:30 and have delicious ribs in an hour (or a little less). I've done St. Louis, spare, and baby back. Slightly different cook times.
instapot also great for carnitas.
Found short ribs on sale, which I've never made before. Tried this instant pot recipe, and they were amazing: https://www.platingpixels.com/korean-sho... I picked this recipe because it was one of the easiest with fewest ingredients π
I was forced to use ground ginger and Laoganma Hot Chili Sauce in place of garlic chili paste, but the flavors and texture were still fabulous. Sorry about the pic. I took a bite or two and then realized I just had to share because they were so good! Heading back to the store to buy up the lot on sale.

As a crockpot guy, who has never gotten an instapot, what should I look for if getting an instapot? I may look at black friday deals and try to find something I can use as a beginner. I'm sure it won't be too hard to learn, but I'm not a huge culinary expert so trying new things can be intimidating.
It is so easy. I'd go to Good Will! LOL. People don't use them and give them away. (And you can return if it doesn't work.) I got mine on local online auctions -- new but cheap. I have the Insta Pot brand and a Ninja.
Really easy to use. Just search online for what you want to make and you will find multiple recipes (I usually go for the easiest). Also do a search for how to use one (min/max liquid, don't double the liquid if you double the meat, quick release vs natural release, etc.). It seems intimidating, but it's not at all. Also remember that if a recipe says set for XX minutes, that doesn't include the time to come to seal, so it's always about 10 - 15 minutes longer.
I have a friend who just throws a frozen roast in w/ veggies and liquid when she gets home from work and has a roast in an hour or so. That's what I do w/ regular ribs -- and now short ribs π Those short ribs were out of this world!
Highly recommend!
