Online dating thread
I started this as a thread where 2+2 members could share advice on online dating. I'm 25 years old, and have had trouble
I see this offputting line of discussion is still happening.
My fault for opening the thread I guess.
we both have thousands of posts, so of course we've crossed paths in the same threads at times. that still doesn't change the fact that i don't know the first thing about you. we've never exchanged dms, never connected on anything personal, never met. for me to talk down to you i'd have to know you exist
This will be my last comment, I promise, but because you don't know who I am... how certain are you that we haven't met?

dude how dumb are you? this whole theory rests on the idea that everyone's equally memorable - not that you, specifically, someone i've never had a single meaningful interaction with, are just forgettable.
you originally implied you were skeptical that image was even me. now you're lacing up the detective sneakers again to float that we might have met in person? jfc...
do you not realize that plenty of people here... including some posting in this very thread... have either met me irl, or saw my photos back before i knew creepy weirdos like you were lurking, or are connected on instagram? i'd get away with posting fake images about as long as you got away with your fake living situation theory.
and yet you think you're playing some game by implying we've met. even if we somehow did, i was clearly as forgettable to you as you are to me.
thank for for that being your last comment, i'm more than happy to leave this myself, but i'm not going to just stand around ignore this kind of ridiculous slander
this entire thing was needlessly tiring, i'm still flabbergasted that interactions like this are even possible
and seriously, shame on you, trying to spread nonsense rumors about me on pure speculation? jfc man... you are truly pathetic
Rick,
FYI, nobody is impressed, and everyone is getting annoyed at your extreme attempts to dunk on people.
Randall is a solid poster fwiw.
I have no dog in this fight.
Since 27o has asked me if I wanted to moderate OOT in the recent past, I am going to interim-moderate this thread situation.
End it now, or take it to PMs.
Nobody ****ing cares and you’re both making yourselves look pathetic, feuding in a public thread.
Especially one that is historically about helping people better themselves in online dating or dating in general.
Stay single Mclovin.
mclovin talks to women irl fwiw
id like to retract all my previous posts itt. i was not reading the posts in order but its clear that primarily i should just shut the **** up.
have a good day
Also, this should go without saying but don’t be a weirdo douchenozzle and personally attack others.
If anyone itt feels personally attacked, I highly recommend you report those posts so they can be dealt with by an OOT moderator.
If 27o is not available in the near future, then I will personally direct said reported posts to the moderator team as a whole to deal with them appropriately.
Thank you.
Arguing with strangers on the internet is pointless

Nearly every thread devolves into an argument over who is right and then into personal attacks, this is not entertaining.
Elizabeth Bruch, a professor of sociology at the University of Michigan analysed data from online dating.
Here are some things she discoveredβ¦
-Menβs desirability peaks at ages 40-50. But womenβs desirability starts highest at age 18 and falls throughout their lifespan.
-Both men and women pursue partners who are on average about 25% more desirable than themselves.
-Womenβs prospects dim as they achieve the highest level of education.
-Almost no one messages users less desirable than they are. Everyoneβs understanding of their place in the hierarchy is very accurate.
-Men experience lower reply rates when they write more positively worded messages.
more things to consider some obvious some not so
my go to opener message:
inside?
TimM,
you're the best.
Sincurly,
McMuffin
Sadly, inside? is probably the best canned opener I've ever utilized
how about...
"Isn't it ironic?"
