Fun Player's Guide to the Galaxy
Well let's see.... I'm here, but not quite sure what I'm doing here.
I mean I don't feel drunk.
I thought 7/9 would be a fitting date to mark the start point of whatever this will be. 79 being my favorite hand and all. Yes one thing you should know about fun players is that we all have our favorite hand. Usually it ties back to some big pot you won from playing badly and running godly. For me that hand is 7♠9♠
I guess the purpose of this thread is to provide me an outlet to post random updates related to poker.
I haven't played a whole lot in recent years due to time constraints. Live poker is just so time consuming. But I have managed to fit in 1 or 2 tourneys a year and the occassional cash session once a month or so. Not much to write home about. I min cashed some $1100 event last summer and am up a fair amount in the limited cash I've played.
I also play some online, but options for Americans are pretty crappy. I mostly play 100NL 6 max on ignition and some of their tourneys once in awhile. I recently checked out Bet Online and have dabbled in 50NL 6max. The player pool is super small. There seems to be like maybe 10 regs and a handful of random weaker players. At peak hrs there are maybe 4 tables going. I play without a HUD so I'm only 1 or 2 tabling anyways.
I plan on playing the Monster Stack again next year, but will also schedule time so I can play the ME as well. It would be nice to subsidize that with my cash play. So I guess the main goal/challenge is to make $11,500 within about 150hrs of play.
And the side quest will be to make a good showing in the tourneys.
As for where my game is at: Though I've played relatively little, I've actually studied quite a bit. My thoughts on the game in both cash and tournaments has changed quite dramatically over the last few years. I feel my tournament fundamentals have become more solid, but I still find myself Selbsting off my stack near every money bubble. This is one thing I've never bothered to fix. I think it's time now to stop that and see what it does for my results.
For this month I can probably fit in one cash session and I will also be playing a $1650 at the end of the month.
For cash I typically play 2/5 and 5/10.

Yeah so to recap when i started playing online again I started at 10nl on ACR reg tables. I did quite well even w/ a lot of leaks in my game.
Then tried 25nl reg tables and got crushed and gave up. I played 25 blitz maybe a little in that period.
I moved over to Ignition and started playing 100nl. Did well in the first 15k hands right off the get go. Then the downswing cycle hit. I think I went on a cycle of 4 or 5 18-23 buy in downswings and basically was break even over 70k hands. Offic
Ah sorry to hear. I likely played a fair bit with you from 100/200nl.
Have not really had any of these issues with the exception of running a few thousand under EV at 200nl.
Doom switch on again it seems this past week and have also lost about the last 8 flips in a row which feels not great.

I was not on tilt. So here's the story on this one.
For some reason ACR's top up function is very hit or miss. For whatever reason half the time it's not working and I have to keep resetting and applying the setting or doing it manually.
Right before this hand I lost a pot and had like 22bb left. I was about to top up, but it already dealt the next hand and I got dealt 66 and my stack showed 22bb. I was like ok whatever I'll just jam and then top up the next hand.
But right after I jammed 100bb showed up in the middle lol wtf.
So anyways lesson learned. At least I had a chance w/ a flip.

Stakes don't matter for qualification, but they do matter for how many points you earn. Though I don't know the exact formula roughly it's a calculation of how much you contributed to the rake that hand.
I have no clue regarding what would've happened if I swapped volume between stakes. I don't really play based on a set plan I just do what I feel like at the time.
But usually I either stick to all reg tables or just blitz. I rarely mix unless reg tables are very low volume then I might do like 1 reg table and 4 blitz tables.
But I'm mostly playing 25B just for the Beast points because it's so easy to jump in and out because the tables are always running. For the reg tables I have to grind through the waitlist which sometimes takes some time to get all the tables loaded.
