basilpestos journey to midstakes grinding BIG volume
Sweat the miserable micro stakes grind alongside me!
I’m an old washed up pro getting back into the cash game scene and starting to study. I’m making this PBG to help with accountability as well as make some friends along the way 🙂 formerly an mtt player, my cash game theory knowledge is quite minimal at this time and a focus of mine will be using wizard to improve my game.
Poker in general is not very entertaining or enjoyable for me, so i’ll do my best to make the game as fun as I can. Historically, I have found my passion in poker through spending time in the lab studying, and getting those dopamine hits of achievement when there is clear growth in my game.
In the early phases of trying different pools/sites and seeing where I should focus my volume., At the moment my volume is at coin poker, but I’m not sure how long that will last. The rake is favourable for micros (comparable to others) which is nice but there are some better options out there with softer pools at micros.
Daily checklist
30 min walk
30 min lift
Review marked spots from previous day as warm up for session
Play 3k hands
Monthly target is 100k hands. For now, I’ll be grinding 25nl mostly at coinpoker until a better option arises.
The day looks pretty full with this schedule. As long as i’m consistent i’ll be content with what happens. Look forward to chatting with some of you and following along the way.
Played 3 sessions this week of 25nl at coinpoker, totaling about 13.5k hands for a profit of $32.96

Have several spicy spots this week.... Next update I should post a few I reviewed. Respect to the try hards on CP grinding 25nl playing their hearts out everyday making my life difficult. I'll see if i can hang with you guys. You have proven 25nl is no walk in the park nowadays and its going to take some dedicated study to compete.

hits hard.
What's the field like in coinpoker? Can you compare it to another platform? 100k hands per month is a tough target, how many tables do you play? Good luck!
only a 15k hand sample so far but the read is :
pros:
- rake is low and cap is low for 25nl comparable to the market
- software is decent/bearable to grind volume
- usually 6-10 games going. 10+ at peak times, 6 during non peak hours
- deposit bonus right now is great and released in usdt in increments as you play
cons
- reg to rec ratio is not very good. Virtually no limping preflop. Most regs should be small loosers/breakeven/small winners. Haven't seen many massive whales you tend to see at these stakes on regulated sites
- 5 % fee when purchasing CHP (you need CHP to pay rake so you can get 33% RB). Only really matters for micro stakes grinders. The fee makes sense for them to operate, i dont really have a complaint but it does impact your ev if your playing a stake such as 10nl or below. Keep a balance in CHP always and you'll be fine
Following buddy, GL. See u in the tables.
played 10k hands since last update.
Things are going quite well at the tables these past few days. I took a break for new years and didn't play much cash games for two days. Getting back to routine today
Coinpoker is doing some amazing things I think with the world cash game championship. Its great for more marketing and the content is entertaining. Bringing on some of the brightest minds in the game to battle it out really is great to see.

The past 3 days I've been at my computer most of the day and haven't been able to put in enough volume (hands per hr) just playing at coin poker, so it's time to think about adding another site if I want to reach my goals of hitting 100k hands a month at the cash tables.
During peak times coin poker can have more than 12 25NL tables, however they restrict you from playing more than 12. Peak times as of right now seem to be 15:00 - 23:00 CET and then the game die rather quickly.
Off peak times is where I realize I really need to add another site. There's just 2 games running on coin poker right now at 25NL and its a Sunday too. An hour or so ago at 22:30 CET there was 10 tables and within 15 minutes all the game died and we had just 2-3 games. It seems that has happened a few times recently. Can't be much of a NA presence
It's been a tough to choose one that's optimal. WPN i suspect has been filled with russian bots for years now throughout all stakes. Correct me if i am wrong? Would love to hear everyone's thoughts.
I have been using -
Poker Rake Comparison Tool has been helpful to breakdown the different sites and rates you'll be paying at the table. I hope it's mostly accurate.
My understanding is WPN and Ignition are not options to play at with the current bot landscape.
That leaves only a few other options I am aware of. Need to be super rake conscious at these stakes. Some of the rake caps sites charge at the micros can make or break your winrate.
10k hands since last update
The site im looking to add in only runs 50NL as the lowest stake, but the games are supposedly soft so I will take a 10 BI shot at 50NL and see how it goes.
For 25NL, the poker rake comparison GG poker is actually listed as #5 option with only a $2 cap. This can't be including the bbj or raking preflop ? Non the less at 25NL it seems somewhat appealing comparing to the other options, ahead of WPN as they have a $3 cap.
At 50NL coinpoker and WPN become more valuable options than the rest of the markets offering. GG much worse $4. Chico and Ipoker should have a lot of sports betting carry over to poker with the sites running the skin william hill, betonline, sportsbetting.ag, bet 365, etc.
Good luck man, wish you the best for 2025!
I do have an update I'll share soon i hope. A lot has changed since my last post, including a staking deal and being a formerly mtt player i got a deal to play some mtts as well. A lot of various tracking and things im not sure what to post and what not. Give me time. Ty
