The liberals had already tapped the breaks on immigration. Now they are stomping on them. 2025 cuts from originally 500k down to 395k and then further cuts down to 365k by 2027.
One of the most important numbers to think about is that this actually causes net population DECLINE. Like Canada's non-immigrant population has such a tiny birthrate that in just those two years still with hundreds of thousands of immigrants it nets out to 0.2% decline freeing up 670,000 homes that don't need to be built. Crazy just how sensitive and dependent Canada is on immigration.
Definitely appreciate how the liberals have repeatedly evolved their strategies as the underlying economic situation changes as opposed to being relentlessly ideological one way or the other.

I prefer politicians whose policy changes as situations change such as the labour crunch post pandemic that has now abated. I guess one might prefer an ideologue who repeats the same right wing talking points he developed when he was 25.

no. I want to live in norway not Toronto. its a projection you cant predict birth rates completely.
Ok. I spent a decade in Toronto and its an incredible, world class city, not least because you can get great cuisine from basically every culture on earth. I’m not quite sure why I’m supposed to prefer Norway or why I should be mad that immigrants come to Toronto.
They use their natural resources to benefit people in norway. not people in india
Quick google it looks like Norway is 17% immigrant and Canada 20% (those might not be identical measures, whatever). What exactly is the massive problem?
