And for what's it's worth--absolutely nothing, just observation--I just drove from D.C. up to Mechanicsburg PA and Trump is convincingly crushing the lawn sign battle and not just in the red districts.
I would call Mechanicsburg, PA the middle of PA. James Carville famously said something like, “Pennsylvania is Philadelphia and Pittsburgh with Alabama in between."
To tack on my earlier post, the other thing concerning me is that it looks extremely tough for Harris to add votes while extremely easy to lose them. Trump could see a new set of criminal charges pop up or any number of things and stay reasonably in it but Harris could tumble with just about anything. I'll at least presume she isn't keeping any email servers at her home but just about any Whatevergate that sticks could easily sink her.

Yeaaaah but it was a long trip, not just looking at Mechanicsburg. It could be that conservatives own more houses are and just really into signs, but I'm just saying it was more lopsided than I would have expected even with the assumptions about the areas being more or less in line with Carville. I'm used to that we have some isolated parts of NJ that are like that too

Trumpers are notoriously obnoxious with their hats, signs, and flags. It's just fantacism.

Yeah, there is a bigotry of low expectations when it comes to Trump and really probably conservatives in general in a variety of situations. For Trump, many of his voters don't expect him to be smart, or competent or honest or hardworking. And if you think he is any of those things nothing could ever change your mind.

Reminds me of Ben Shapiro’s debate with Destiny on the Lex Friedman podcast. Ben said he grades Trump on a curve. That’s the home field advantage Trump has.
Yes I don't know that "happy" is the word I'd use to describe the Dems situation, at least among people with any basic level of awareness. It's still pretty tense.
Maybe I should have said lack of panic? It's a coin flip and people will vote in this election that weren't alive last time Dems weren't a solid favorite at this stage.

I'm genuinely swurprised the left is as happy as they are with their chances, at least based on my impression.
I don't think Dems are happy about their overall chances, which seem to be roughly a coin flip. They're just relieved and hopeful because they somehow managed to pry Biden off the ticket and replace him with an electable candidate.

Pre debate, were people in thread talking about prying him off the ticket? I don't recall that at all. Everyone was singing his praises for the most part.

I usually don't comment single polls but the NYT/siena one is one of the most watched polls , rated first (as in "the best pollster nationwide") by 538 and so on.
And it has Trump beating Harris in the popular vote 48 v 46 (2 candidates as options), 44 42 (multicandidate options)
