2024 Presidential Debate 2 Electric Boogaloo
Starting off to a great start where first question is not answered and ignored and they just go straight into talking points
Man, what rock have I been living under? I knew there were white nationalist groups there, but I didn't realize it was just them. There was so much discussion in the news and on social media about the matter of the statues that in my head I equated conservatives with the makeup of a lot of the protests.
I think that is understandable, given the chaotic media coverage. I also think Trump's statement in itself caused a lot of that confusion and made a lot of people assume that this wasn't a white supremacist rally. There was also a broader conservative push against removing confederate statues, which many probably mistook this rally to be part of.
People who think that Trump is a boss because Kamala went to him to shake hands are morons, it's called respect, Trump is disrespectful and a douchebag.
I felt the way Kamala shook his hand.. it was filled with disgust, but she still did it. That's worth appreciating
Rightwing twitter is pretty low energy this european morning, lot of whining about biased moderators at the debate, and some coping takes claiming Trump "won" the debate because he called Harris a marxist and the "they are eating dogs" part was funny.
Unclear tbh how much the debate moved odds though , as Harris got great polls a few hours before the debate, and Swift endorsed Harris after the debate from what i gather.
Anyway, great day for Harris after a couple of weeks of Trump gaining at the margins
It wasn't just them, but they have to pretend they were, to keep up with the false narrative. All debunked since a while ago even by mainstream media. Doesn't matter at all. Harris even brought up the completly debunked "bloodbath" claim, which was about the automotive industry.
They fabricate post truths and run with them for years, incessantly, then project it's republicans who live in a post truth universe.
Gotchya, and what's the cope for Donald Trump saying he would terminate the constitution on day 1?

IIRC the thing was "dictator for one day" or something like that.
I suppose the same as when Harris proposed to use executive orders to do gun control in 2019 debates, Biden answered that was unconstitutional, and she answered "we are the party of the yes we can".
Pandering to their core constituencies with unconstitutional proposals that have no chance to happen (or be allowed by courts), giving the "dream" of crushing opponents/achieving outcomes regardless of actual constitutional powers, seems to be fairly common (see student debt cancelation as well for Harris, and all Trump election denialism and attempts to overturn the result with technicalities).
You are only credible though if you decry both sides doing that regularly, and no, agreeing in principle with the stated aims of those constitutional raping shouldn't make any difference.
Here's the clip. His opponents hyperbolize it, but it is practically the worst choice of words and almost certainly said intentionally.
Yes i am not denying he claimed that (then he went with constitutional proposals in your video), unlike other made up narratives.
He claimed that, it was clearly intentional, it was a dog whistle basically like "if i could i would destroy them, regardless of the constitution", it happened.
As i said, proposals to do wildly unconstitutional stuff are more and more common on both sides, also from candidates for congress

The problem with that kind of discourse is the making
(and the fishing of how people react like when he said he would suspend the constitution which got huge backlash and had to retreat right away )
of rendering the word dictator less repugnant and join it with acceptable objectives that are not tied at all about it for his base .
Once the term is more socially accepted , he can start use it and acting on it on other things .
It’s the same tactic on dehumanizing the political opponents by calling them rats ,etc to be able afterwards to do w.e u want with them forgetting they were humans and « compatriot » to begin with .
Great. Luciom’s awake
I only watched 3/4 of it but that’s the USAs best . Neither could answer the actual question given to them .
Trump rambling like an idiot so score this as a win for Kamala
Though ABC’s bias came out with only fact checking Trump’s lies
Keep your cat and dog inside 😀

And yet I dont see this same vigor from you about the myriad of Trump lies in the debate.
Why is that?
No sane rational person could watch that and think Trump won.
Kamala was prepared and he wasn't and it showed.
This is not the same trump that debated hilary. He's completely unhinged now. If anyone that supports trump had never seen him speak before last night, I doubt they would think anything else.
At best you can say that he wrongly believed this was a conservative rally where some Nazis happened to show up, but given that one of these Nazis killed a woman in a politically motivated attack and he was commenting on that event as the President of the United States of America, that would also be completely inexcusable.
I don't even think you can say this. If you look at the actual timeline, Trump effectively doubled down a few days after his original comments. Those few days were filled with reports about exactly which groups had organized and attended the rally. There is a zero percent chance that Trump was in the dark when he doubled down.
That may be, but it shouldn't matter if you are on the left or right. Trump is a disaster of a human being and shouldn't be defended.
Truth should he defended especially when there are plenty of absolutely reasonable lines of attack vs trump, making up falsehoods and entire absurd narratives is terrible.
It predisposes for the same to happen no matter the candidate, life will go on after trump (which could be as soon as some months from now) and we are all really better off if we stop making up false **** to attack people who represent ideas we disagree with.
Also, it backfires with normies. There are people who realized at least 4 major anti trump narratives are made up.
Good luck telling them the other 103 are true
Trump Demands ABC Be Shut Down for Daring to Fact Check Debate
Donald Trump called for ABC News to be shut down during a rant about the way he was treated by the network during his presidential debate against Kamala Harris.
The former president called into Fox & Friends on Wednesday morning to complain that he’d faced a “rigged deal” with the debate, with moderators “correcting everything” he said while “not correcting with her.” Asked why he felt moderators hadn’t corrected Harris in the same way, Trump answered: “Because they’re dishonest.”

It was clear that ABC was prepared for some of Trump's lies and called him out on questions he did not answer. They did not due that with Harris even on the first question they asked her as well when she lied that she said she supported fracking in the 2020 debate . They should have been prepared for that lie and called her out.
Kamala's team were geniuses by having her at the end of every answer needle Trump on issues like crowd size. Kamala clearly won that debate.

The fracking claim... can someone find a source? All I can locate is when she said she was against fracking on public land... which was an issue at the time when she spoke about this.
Regardless, people are allowed to change their position, as long as it's not just bluster or pandering.
I'm on team Trump because I think most liberals are creeps. That being said, Harris by far won the debate last night. She did an excellent job. Trump needs to retire the Virginia Governor abortion talking point. I cringe every time he brings that back up. I thought Trump had one of his better debates but Kamala absolutely destroyed him.
