I really think you guys are giving way too much credit to Harris for her performance. Of course she won last night, but that is because Trump is an unhinged buffoon that is just making stuff up as he goes along.
FWIW I think a lot of people think she won for the reason u just exposed to us shrug .

he also ran on being a poor kid who went to school on a full ride and graduated top of his class when in reality there was no such academic scholarship and he literally graduated like 176/183 or something

while they weren't wealthy but rather upper middle class making 3-4x the the average household, growing up the child the a biologist and professor is an extremely advantageous position compared to the general public

And the actual truth is, she wasn't upper middle class until they were older. She had a single mom in an era when women, no matter what field, made significantly less than men. Just like my mom. She grew up in an apartment until she was a late teen.
