Donald J. Trump (For everyone else except Victor)

I assume it's still acceptable to have a Trump thread in a Politics forum?

So this is an obvious lie - basically aimed at

So apparently medicaid funding in Washington State is being paused.

Probably today courts are going to start blocking this order like they did the completely fascist and unconstitutional birthright order, but man it's awful, and even a day or two is going to cause some havoc. ****ing Trumpers.

I’m sending you to the seaside for the day before I ****ing lose it on you.

These are small children and their friends. They have no concept of the legality of their existence. Jesus Christ, dude.

This is exactly why you shouldn't be a mod. Jesus Christ, indeed.

No, it's not even about Trump support.

Half of the forum is probably on the spectrum, so people are going to have filters of varying effectiveness, but Luciom explained in a matter-of-fact way how he'd approach a sensitive topic with children and Crossnerd has a hissy fit that really just boils down to, "BUT THINK ABOUT THEIR FEELINGS!"

So what, are we supposed to enforce laws with a constant eye on whether or not a child might shed a tear as a result?

Does Crossnerd not have any rules at home? Do the kids run the household?

Any small child who has a friend disappear because they were deported is going to go back to thinking about Minecraft by the end of the week. Kids are ignorant, but not stupid. You can explain to a child how rules work.

I just asked myself what would Trump do

Admins at the schools and clinics currently calling company heads and insurances to see if our kids are going to lose any of their services. Much is determined via federal funding.

That seems like a reasonable guideline? I feel like if I made children cry during my day-to-day work my boss would have some constructive feedback for me.

Just using your post to make a couple of quick points, they aren't directed at you:

1) Being in the country without documentation isn't a crime. It's a civil violation.

2) No one's existence is illegal. A person can't be illegal, only actions can.

"reducing the scope of the state is very close to be Stalin" roflmao.

it's the literal opposite

Your belief that Trump is doing this in order to diminish the power of the state is truly something to behold.

Congress at *any time* could have made the DOJ as independent as the Federal reserve from the executive.

it mulled about doing it after Nixon, it didn't.

in 1978 though congress decided to make the DOJ a little more independent than other executive agencies with the "ethics in government act".

that created the independent counsels which POTUS couldn't touch.

in 1999 for whatever reason they let that act expire.

the idea that subscribing to unitary executive theory is hitleresque, is just absurd.

Cong

I am unsurprised that this is your opinion.

+1

The bias here against Trump supporters (who are just people who love their country and want it taken out of corrupt hands) is out of control, which includes the mods.

It's hilarious that you don't think Trump is corrupt. I mean, it's almost as hilarious as thinking vegetables are toxic to humans.

Have you heard of oxalates?

Your body produces oxalates. It is broken down into energy by Oxalobacter formigenes, a bacteria that lives in your gut.

Long story short: most people handle oxalates just fine. They are eliminated with waste. High oxalate levels can cause issues, but most people will not experience these with a normal diet. Most foods that are high in oxalates are very beneficial in other areas, so cutting them out entirely is usually a bad idea. The benefits far exceed any downsides.

Yes, some of us know a lot about oxalates. Many people use misinformation about them to try to sell their supplements, so be wary.

Why would a federal directive cause funding to be paused in only one of the fifty states?

Have you heard of oxalates?

Do you avoid vegetables because of oxalates?

by Rococo k

Do you avoid vegetables because of oxalates?

Just high oxalate ones.

Why would a federal directive cause funding to be paused in only one of the fifty states?

Have you ever written a computer program that, in hindsight, shouldn't work but somehow does?

Or maybe Washington was intentionally siphoning some non-medicaid federal funding into their health programs and are now in a tricky spot. Of course, no government official would ever take money out of a bucket for purposes other than what it was originally intended for.

Legit trying to help here: soaking or boiling vegetables can help lower oxalate levels in things like kale, spinach, beets, or potatoes.

by Inso0 k

What does this have to do with the question we are discussing?

Or maybe Washington was intentionally siphoning some non-medicaid federal funding into their health programs and are now in a tricky spot. Of course, no government official would ever take money out of a bucket for purposes other than what it was originally intended for.

And what does this have to do with the question we are discussing? There is no reason to believe that Trump's directive would have paused funding to states that were engaging in a fraud on the federal government. The directive had nothing to do with fraud prevention.

by Rococo k

What does this have to do with the question we are discussing?

You asked how something could only affect one out of the fifty states.

Spaghetti code syndrome isn't limited to computing. The amount of convoluted back-end paperwork and systems involved with getting federal funds into the hands of citizens must be enormous, especially considering how much of the government still runs on computers that were placed into service in the 80s.

Edit: I can't find a source for microbet's claim, anyway. Probably a nothingburger.

by Inso0 k

I thought it was obvious that I was asking how this federal directive could affect only one of fifty states.

Edit: I can't find a source for microbet's claim, anyway. Probably a nothingburger.

I wasn't able to find anything either.

It’s looking like they’re going to close the pre-schools here. Most of them are run by Head Start, which is specifically under review. I can’t believe this…

The irony is I’m in a heavily red state and the people who are already low income and will not be able to go to work now because they have nowhere to send their kids for school likely voted for Trump.

I don't know that it's only one of the fifty states. I just have second hand info from someone who works for the State of Washington that they are holding funding. I expect states don't know exactly what to do.
