British Politics

Been on holiday for a few weeks, surprised to find no general discussion of British politics so though I'd kick one off.

lol you're obviously embarrassed, and rightly so. scuttle off and have a rethink

your furious masturbation was over some telegraph journo getting harassed over nothing. is your conflation here with another unrelated incident intentional, or is the dementia kicking in you elderly weirdo?

List of things that BOIDS can’t stand… to be periodically updated.

Palestinians
The “elderly”
Asylum seekers
Socialists

Quite the progressive, aren’t you?

by BOIDS

i mean how can you be supportive of speech laws while holding views that the government considers extremist. so NAIVE

What views are these?

From your rabid definition, millions of voters in the 1970s would have been “extremists” you clueless Thatcherite tool.

Nowhere to be seen now - it's always projection with the far right like you.

And more projection in not realising who the far right's next targets will be once they're done with Muslims. Shame on you for a total lack of foresight.

Today a demonstrator with a placard saying that trans is mental illness was anrrested and detained for 11 hours before being released on pre charge conditions that prohibit him from entering the city of Westminster.

Although obnoxious, this clearly also falls outside of the grey area and is ridiculous as he wasn’t encouraging or inciting violence, merely expressing a nasty opinion. I hope he isn’t charged.

Very good of you to say this, chapeaux

Waiting for the "B...bu...but capital flight!!1!11!!" crew to arrive.

Not unconnected

Tories blue and red: "They're all malingerers. Cut their benefits more!"

If the ruling culture keeps on making life uncomfortable to the point of impossible for all but the most aggressive and competitive 2% (clinically known as psychopaths), there's a consequence to that.

But there's also a consequence to an educational system that fetishises 'vulnerability' and 'oppression' and the priority of rights over responsibilities. You can't keep the young in kindergarten till age 18 and suddenly launch them into the Hunger Games.

Norman Tebbit died at 94, just heard on the news.

I just want to quickly mention that I have caught about 15% of my buses on this UK trip (2nd day here) or 1 out of 6 buses and already slightly regretting it at least getting into London.

I already knew I was cutting it fine getting in to London to watch the state of origin series starting at 11 with the bus I planned before knowing it was starting then getting me in at 10.30. Caught the bus at Gatwick and didn't realise it does the Heathrow loop and the traffic from Heathrow that I could see coming back and thought I couldn't risk it getting back into London in time. So got out at Terminal 5 at Heathrow and caught the underground to Victoria where I had planned and got me in about 30 mins earlier and well in time for the game (which we won too).

Should have asked here. No one would have advised taking a bus for that journey over the tube. Frequent trains from Gatwick into Victoria.

Schoolboy error.

Also to add I have one additional dispute and probably end up just catching a train instead now but how can bus companies literally just kick you off a bus you have paid for onto a much slower bus.

That is what happened for my service from Cardiff to Liverpool - meant to be 9.30 to 4pm now they changed it to 10.50 to 8pm with an additional stop in Bristol (only meant to stop at Birmingham). I'll end up getting a last minute ticket as I can see you can get pretty good deals the day before or just pay the going rate which is about 50 pounds. But disputing it with the bus company to refund or put me on a bus that gets me there at the same time (which absurdly there was a bus that left 10 mins later and got in at Liverpool at the same time but they threw me on this other bus to Bristol).

Also I will definitely be letting social and review sites know hat the bus company can do this

It was only schoolboy without knowing the game started at 11. Otherwise happy to get in at 10.30 heading from Gatwick. If I got in at Heathrow it would have been the underground everyday. Anyway it was good spur of the moment call to get off the bus at Heathrow

As an update just want to say that they came through and refunded the money. I have now bought a train ticket for about 45 pounds and gets me into Liverpool at about 3. So all's well that ends well. It probably took a social media post that I posted for them to move on the issue.

Also how are you Brits enjoying the weather atm? [emoji23]

I have a question about Cardiff from my observations here just over a day but is Cardiff literally just a drinking city? I mean there doesn't seem much else to do but go to the pub that seem to be every 30 metres here on average in the city centre.

I’ve only been to Cardiff once and all I did was drink all day. That was decades ago though and I think it’s a cultural city now.

But the Welsh being mad drinkers shouldn’t surprise you.

No it's insane - I have never seen bigger drinkers in my life and I have been to many places. Surely it goes Welsh big distance then Irish, Brits and then Scots.
