In other news

In the current news climate we see that some figures and events tend to dominate the front-pages heavily. Still, there are important, interesting or just plain weird things happening out there and a group of people can find these better than one.

I thought I would test with a thread for linking general news articles about "other news" and discussion. Perhaps it goes into the abyss that is page 2 and beyond, but it is worth a try.

Some guidelines:
- Try to find the "clean link", so that links to the news site directly and not a social media site. Avoid "amp-links" (google).
- Write some cliff notes on what it is about, especially if it is a video.
- It's not an excuse to make outlandish claims via proxy or link extremist content.
- If it's an editorial or opinion piece, it is polite to mark it as such.
- Note the language if it is not in English.
- There is no demand that such things be posted here, if you think a piece merits its own thread, then make one.

Pretty sure normal people feel a 20+% hit more than elites

They don't pay attention to their 401ks. It's not a part of their day to day livelihood. The super rich are feeling the sting. The market desperately needed this shakeout.

NVDA is still up 780% from Oct '22 lmao.
TSLA still up 1900% from '19....this market was the most overpriced market in history.

Not anymore no. Price earnings aren't absurd anymore.

First time in nearly 30 years, apparently

CNN did the same thing with the Covid ticker.

Because the economy was good, but your idiot idol ****ed that up you stupid bootlicker.

It's mind boggling how the trumpers love that we're diving into a global recession.
CNN did the same thing with the Covid ticker.
Trump personally trashed the Dow. Fox is a right leaning broadcaster.

Who personally trashed COVID? CNN is a left leaning broadcaster.

How did you come up with comparison, mong?

“The far left is mentally ill and the far right is ******ed”

Watching this unfold as we speak. It can't get bad enough for Trumpers. They will hold their children as they die of hunger and convince you Trump is the greatest thing to ever happen to the US.

So, it is hitting them, they're just too stupid to notice. Cool.

What exactly was the "covid ticker" and when was it removed?

by BGnight k

Only the elite are getting hammered by this drop. A temporary 15% dip doesn't mean anything to working class people's 401ks. They'll recoup it by EOY while given an awesome buying opportunity. The red bars are glorious!!!

I’ll take that bet probably not !
Unless QE comes back but this time with 10%+ inflation .
I’m sure you will think it would be a win lol

So they were very overprice in 1 comment u made but they will recoup their lost quickly (in another comment u made) to reenter into a very overprice market afterwards ?
Sounds logical indeed .

They got the billionaires right where they want them lol

I found those quotes interesting , especially post covid 19 …

B.Russell :

The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, and wiser people so full of doubts.

The first step in a fascist movement is the combination under an energetic leader of a number of men who possess more than the average share of leisure, brutality, and stupidity. The next step is to fascinate fools and muzzle the intelligent, by emotional excitement on the one hand and terrorism on the other.

I mean the sheer lack of anything resembling intelligence to sit here and think ‘there’s a temporary dip but it’ll only hit the elite’ is beyond fucking breathtaking

I'm just pointing out that when the numbers don't support the narrative the news agency supports they take down the ticker. Fox supports Trump but a tanking stock market is a bad look. CNN was in the 'we are all going to die from COVID' camp but when the numbers started going down they took off the ticker.

The down turn will effect those who are ready to retire and in need of this money. It's definitely effecting the elite more than main street. It probably will rebound by the end of the year.

The ticker showing how many people had died. I don't know when it was removed. One day it was just gone.

After the Covid collapse I didn't look at my 401k for about 2 years. I'll probably do the same again now. There is no reason to panic but it does suck if you are near or at retirement age and in need of this money.

I think they are just being reasonable. What is weird is how many people are in a deep panic two days into a paradigm shift in how we do business. The system was broke and now we are doing something different. If the time comes I will happily bash Trump if this doesn't work. I bashed him during his awful handling of the pandemic.

They are looking at the other side of this temporary pain not wallowing in it like some people.

What's temporary? 6 months or 10yrs?

Don’t know, but after Hawley Smoot tariffs it was more in the 10 year range.

I saw it earlier today, liar.
