there are people who think it's morally horrific to have foreign born people being allowed to be congresspeople.

After all your own constitution doesn't allow a candidate for president who is foreign born, ask yourself why

Probably based about foreign invasion ?

Yes but boomer will leave a pretty good heritage and countless of home availability.

Fwiw taking into account the average of life span , the boomer hit this year or next year the average of life expectancy.
1946 +~ 79 years old -> 2025 .

So it’s ok luciom, the “unworthy” boomer life coming to an end .

Boomers are born 46-64. And if you are 75 today you don't have a life expectancy of 0.

i didnt know my point was hard to understand...

funny, in the last like 48 hours,
kimmel gets huge backlash for not much, getting canceled.

but hey when foxnews says crazy violent things , no problem lol...

this country is facked...

Kimmel didn't even say a single negative thing about Kirk. He just criticized Republicans. Then the Trump administration threatened ABC to fire him. And they still want to claim they're the party of free speech.

by Luciom

I mean the democrat DA agreed with us as well.

And it's the same DA democrats used to indict and convict Trump (yes, it's Bragg) of the famous "34 counts of felony".

Well, keep in mind Luigi is a white male.

Progressive big blue city judges/DAs are motivated more by racial grievance politics than political tribalism, and have no problem throwing the book at any white male, even one who codes "left."

This is what Jimmy Kimmel actually said about Charlie Kirk.

"Instead of the angry finger-pointing, can we just for one day agree that it is horrible and monstrous to shoot another human?” Kimmel wrote on Instagram. “On behalf of my family, we send love to the Kirks and to all the children, parents and innocents who fall victim to senseless gun violence.”

Well, I dont remember you thinking it a problem when for the last 20 years people were getting fired, intimidated, assaulted for "right wing" coded speech.

I mean obviously you would hope the people who spent the last 20 years complaining they were being persecuted for speech would take the high ground when they got in a position of power, and not just do the same thing in reverse. But unfortunately, human nature doesn't tend to work this way.

^ similar examples?

Particularly when they were canceled or fired after they were threatened by the president and/or his administration.

Well, Trump clearly behaves in ways no previous President of any political orientation has before. So we are in uncharted territory as far as a President going after American civilians like this for their speech.

But there is plenty of examples of right wing media/entertainment figures losing jobs for speech. Disney recently quietly settled a case with Gina Carino over a lawsuit she filed against them for firing her for her speech, which I dont even remember the specifics but my recollection is the comments she was fired for were pretty milquetoast all things considered.

lets make it the other way around.
find me a post where i ever advocate such a thing o0?

you think its about a right or left thing while i always argue about whats being correct or wrong, regardless being a right or a left thing...

now u might think im a hardcore lefty because it seem i have a tendency of always leaning left in my intervention , which i am certainly not, but what can i say....
being stuck to respond at character like luciom (which post 100+ times per day) or the post video i provided with a terrible take on foxnews, what else can i say ....

but what do you really think about the foxnews video, u think kimmel situation is correct and comparable ?

Looks like she said conservatives in the US were treated like Jews in the Holocaust (when they were about to win the presidency, House, and Senate). If not extreme, it was at least extremely stupid. So Disney fired her without any pressure from the government as far as I can tell.

Then she sued them and got a settlement that was likely higher than her projected lifetime earnings.

Doesn't seem even similar to me.
Because you're right that no President has ever gone after American civilians like this for their speech. That's why this isn't at all similar to anything that has ever been done to anyone on the right.

well seem she won and she vastly said many thing prior with no consequences...

seem one time she went a bit too far about jews and holocaust to the taste of disney .

but these arent really comparable either imo

Oh, by the way, regarding that Fox guy who suggested killing all the homeless people a few days ago that Montreal has been talking about.

Yesterday there was a mass shooting at a homeless camp! Anyone heard of that happening before? I can't swear that it hasn't, but I've never heard of it. Seems like that shooting was more likely to be caused by hateful rhetoric than those of any other attacks we've had.

Apart from Charlie Kirk of course; his murder was almost certainly the result of his own hateful rhetoric.

Saying something sensible on IG doesn't undo the terrible things he said on the air. Hitler liked kids and dogs, you giving him credit for that?

What terrible things are you thinking of? The remark he apparently got in trouble for said nothing at all about Kirk; it just criticized the Republican leadership for their handling of the situation.

By the way, you just did the exact thing that Republicans have been complaining about - comparing others to Nazis and Hitler.

Yeah I’m not sure why Dunyain is coming after you for this. You are pretty consistent with your criticism of the far left that I’ve seen.

Stuff is just so skewed to the extremes right now that people on the center left just end up either fighting with the far right, far left, or both, and people end up thinking we’re on the opposite extreme, sometimes on both opposite extremes.

I think that also creates an environment where people are forced to deal only with the most extreme narratives because that’s what the incentive structure is online.

Yeah I’m not sure why Dunyain is coming after you for this. You are pretty consistent with your criticism of the far left that I’ve seen.

yup
i would say probably center right too, fighting with their own radical right and radical left.

I mean the center left got everything it asked for , for decades in the west (and more than they could ever have hoped for). Even when the "right" won, it kept basically everything you wanted and cared about in most cases. So the right winning just created delays, never reversion against your preferred path.

The tories kept net zero (!!!!).

Trump didn't even eliminate medicaid ffs. Trump even gave you coastal centerleftists SALT deductions back to 40k (married filing jointly) for god sake. It's like the game is rigged to have you always win.

AfD in Germany has no intention to touch public healthcare nor unemployment insurance. Your dream of a significant welfare state, an oppressive bureaucracy, and unlimited technocratic power is still alive.

For the first time in the adult lifetimes of most of you though, you have elected politicians trying to reverse at most 1/10th of what you did to society. If absurd efforts come to fruition, with extreme problems, some countries might go back to the numbers of immigrants we had in... 2018 ! that's horrendous i guess but i mean , it's still the world you want and not the immigrants we had in the 80s right?

And now you feel pressured. Yea i mean welcome to the lives of everyone else, where we live in political hell with elected politicians never doing what we want since the day we were born. When getting 1 policy in favour of our preferences and 20 against feels like winning.

checkraise i trust you as an intellectually honest person.

As a center left person in the USA, what's currently policy in the USA which is dramatically against all your basic values and political interests, that you would want to be fully reversed with scorched earth against the current status quo? what do you currently find deeply horriifying and disgusting policy wise?

because people on the far left, the actual right, libertarians, and alt right extremists, all have a long list of policies they would want to completely change and feel currently violate their inner values a lot.

one day the people who didn't oppose lockdowns will accept and understand they were part of one the most horrific violent act against civilians in peace time of western history.

The damage of covid mismanagement will cause problems for generations.

I wonder why you believe the 3% increase is such a dramatic thing .
U don’t think the 17% prior matters more ?

And taking your graph , pre trump first term , it was around 13% from your graph.
And early Covid it went at like 17% ?

So the election of trump first term had more increases then the dangerous Covid and yet u believe Covid restriction was the worst thing ever but not trump being elected ? lol….

If a 3% is bad on a 20% , why shouldnt a 3-4% increase on 17% matter much more o0 …..

Now Thats primary 5th grader math .

I agree that covid restrictions were very bad for young people, but this graph only shows a very small bump in 2020 when compared with the pervious trend.

And then afterwards it drops significantly. My interpretation of this would be that they learned what they were missing and were happier to get back what they had previously.

That graph is heavily correlated with smart phone use and total engagement.

Its pretty much a graph of % of people who sit on their ass all day.
