You should post some of the criticism you have seen about Mamdani. I am only guessing based on seeing a headline that he was hanging with them. Ofc Bernie and AOC are in the highest tier of cheerleaders for mass baby murder on the planet so it's not surprising that many call them genocide supporters. Nor is it surprising that liberals would support them as there is no amount of blood that will the liberal desire for murder.

I dont know if he will win, but Zohran not going full "Globalize the Infintada" looney leftist shows he is actually serious about winning the election, for good or bad. If he actually accomplished all the socialist points on his agenda it would probably be bad for NY (and the US). But probably most of it wont happen, or will happen in very muted form, and nothing much would actually change, which I view as a positive.
Most of the Twitter criticism is ******ed, but keep in mind it is probably paid actors from Pakistan whose main focus is antisemitism. And all this criticism isn't going to move the needle much for anyone but the mentally ill terminally online anti American West, who should be disregarded and ostracized by anyone serious about winning elections or being an effective politician.

My priors of people being absolutely unhinged online for zero inorganic monetary incentive are quite high. I think that they mostly operate as grifters within their own circle, and the vast majority of them do it for absolutely nothing.

As far as foreign paid actors goes, I was referring more to the big online twitter accounts that narrowly focus on criticism of (((Zionism))) like the squirrel account you linked.

The rent freeze, as you probably know, isn't free rent, its preventing hikes. And it becomes a hell of a lot less impactful near the top of the real estate market, especially in big cities where real estate could take a hit in the next 5 years. Free buses ... that's riveting stuff.
His city run grocery stores is a low risk, low reward, nothingburger. It doesn't really matter whether it works or fails.

No one argues that Qatar is the heart of Hamas, and a lot of Sunni radical Islamism. The issue has always been that for geopolitical reasons Qatar has always been treated as hands off. Will be interesting to see the fallout from this paradigm shift.

It is quite possible Hamas has outlived their usefulness and Qatar gave the ok. Although I dont know why they would have chosen to go this route and not just exile them to Turkey or Iran. Maybe everyone has decided it is time for Hamas to go.
