Sometimes the moderation here leaves you scratching your head.
I got a warning for a post I made that referred to another poster in my reply to him as one of the "non-travelling people". Crossnerd's PM said "please avoid personal remarks towards him as I know there is longstanding beef between you two". The poster in question has made it public that he's had me on ignore for a long time and my post wasn't quoted by anyone so I didn't see how any offence could be caused.
After getting the warning I removed any references to him and reposted it, and this apparently was sufficient for a one day ban?
I object strongly to being told who I can and cannot reply to here. That is not one of the duties of moderators as I understand it, and this heavy-handed authoritarianism is beyond absurd.

without looking, i'm pretty sure those are just some whiny low calorie insults he made to you because that's literally all he does here - it's astounding he hasn't ever received a perma-ban while you gain 24 bans for posting your post minus the insults
note for the mods - luciom, me, & jalfrezi regularly disagree and argue with each other - this is not a conspiracy of friends working against that troll
just check out his body of work, it's all he does and he always does it just so gently as to to avoid getting infracted but we all know what he's doing

i do suck at writing so strong chance i illustrated it poorly but they were all on the same page despite that since we're so familiar with jj's body of work
this was all in the election thread but i humbly propose mods not ban people for speculating that haitian immigrants are eating cats/dogs. if people have specious or poorly-sourced arguments i think they should live in posterity so we can all point at them and say "see how wrong you were?"
i think banning unfavorable viewpoints risks hardening the posters' views and those who are sympathetic to them

The problem isn't hardening views, it's that as soon as there is one documented case of some immigrant eating a cat you're going to look silly. It's a setup for failure.
ok but can you explain why you think it's racist to claim the topic is relevant for the election? people are discussing it a lot in social media.
Obama birtherism was a made up narrative but it was discussed a lot as well

According to notes he was on like his 7th permabanned account. Kinda like PointlessWords…

I agree with you 100% and I made similar points in the election thread. Even if the right wing found one credible account of a Haitian immigrant eating a pet, it wouldn't prove anything and it wouldn't justify whipping up sentiment against Haitian immigrants.
And to your point, of course you can find examples of white people eating dogs. Here is a story about a white guy getting convicted for eating a dog:

Am I concerned that there is a widespread problem with white people eating dogs in upstate New York? I am not.
