Anyway, my only issue with the Browser approach was that I wasn't allowed to call someone an idiot for saying something idiotic. That should be the cornerstone of a robust discussion about politics, or anything else for that matter.

It's so easy to just say "what you said was idiotic" instead of "you're an idiot". The effect is the same and you're just a wee bit nicer.

It sometimes inelegant in context and being nicer is not one of my goals in that scenario. Also, it changes the meaning: if everything someone says is idiotic, then that's nicely encompassed by calling him or her an idiot.

as an aside, if i pride myself on anything its the ability to change my mind on an issue. if someone were to say, "what you're saying is wrong, here's why," instead of "you're an idiot," it makes this process easier.
with that said, i do sometimes long for the old days, the wild west of 2p2 if you will, when men were men, women were women, and many a grease fire was wished upon me. maybe we could have a purge-like week? where all bets are off and only the thick-skinned dare log into their accounts.
A good ol' fashioned 2p2 survivor is just what the doctor ordered. Everybody feels catharsis and it gets the bad blood out forever.

It's always seemed better and more satisfying to show someone why they're an idiot then to call them one, and I enjoy it when people resort to insults against me because it almost always means that they are out of logical arguments. Once they start insulting you it's generally a pretty clear sign that the discussion is over and that you've won.

The list is endless. some things that pop into my head without relitigating the past, mostly because of relative recency- Luciom excusing rape and literal no one caring. -El razor saying the purpose of sex is procreation and nothing else-The original response to the new owners taking over the forum was to ask them repeatedly and from multiple posters why they married “ hookers”

Criticism of an individual woman for being a gold digger is not sexist. Plenty of men in poker who live off their wives supporting them, they could be called the same thing.

How would you compare this list to other venues of anon posting or areas of public places, like work, gym, restaurants, sporting events or really anywhere?
Your list goes back quite a long time and I honestly think that I could have made a longer and far more misogynistic list from listening to co workers for my last hour of work today.
Well, my brain doesn’t process this as a serious response, probably because my social skills are higher than the other posters in this forum.
But being generous and approaching it as a serious response, I could never imagine thinking a text or post that begins with the phrase “ the list is endless, some things that pop into my head without relitigating the past..” would mean the texter or poster meant to make an authoritative list rather than mention a few things that immediately come to mind. The dozens of instances of sexism that disturbed me most are not mentioned and the reason I did not mention them is that I don’t want to relitigate the past as made very clear in the post.
No one I know would ever respond to a text I made that started with the first sentence in my post/text in that ridiculous way so your response already seems disingenuous to me. As I stated, the list is endless. If I spent a few days looking for incredibly sexist posts the posts printed out on normal sized paper would span the globe.
As for the content of your question, no. I have been to many many bars and clubs and would leave if they approached the level of sexism that 2p2 does. I have never been to a bar or club that comes close.
The problem isn’t a few stray comments or even an overall sexist attitude on 2p2. The problem is that it the overall attitude is so overwhelming that it is unwelcoming even to those who have a tolerance for a certain degree of sexism. It’s insane.
OK well I'm not buying that this place is massively sexist and your list has only persuaded me that it isn't, if those are supposedly examples of egregious sexism (other than #1, but that is disputed by the poster in question, and I imagine he would have been banned for it if true). Sounds like you're seeing monsters under the bed.
