You want MASSIVE increases in the power and scope of the federal prison system, you're not any flavor of a "minimal government" guy.

Almost all the conservatives and nationalists claim to be libertarians these days.

To them it it sounds better than "I want to big daddy government to spank us when we misbehave".

A lot of leftists want that too, but they're not in the closet about it. Also, they insist on safewords.

They called themselves "socialists" in the 30's. Flagrantly lying about you politics is necessary when your politics are abominable and misanthropic.

Only a small percentage of conservatives want a complete abolition of the welfare state in all it's forms.

Rand Paul, like Javier Milei, is a religious nut who basis his political positions on idiotic ideas like two cells having a soul. Hardly anyone is really a libertarian and certainly the border, cop and prison loving people aren't.

Just amazing that someone who worships state power, who thinks that citizens have an obligation to obey, that dissent is treason....calls himself a libertarian. As long as there's no Social Security or Medicare in Oceania, then Big Brother counts as a libertarian.

Possibly the larger percentage are worried about the resulting social unrest which would see them lose power and raise the spectre of Communism.

A simulation makes the most sense to me. If there was a God and he was good things wouldn't look the way they do here. Somebody created this and it's grown organically into this chaos.

If not a simulation then us having a soul that passes from one plain of consciousness to another makes sense.

The moral person makes a choice, rather than looking to have the choice made for them by what “makes the most sense”.

If this world is just a simulation, then the suffering of a child in this world becomes relatively insignificant and meaningless.

I recommend having a definitive, affirmative answer to this question. Otherwise, life will incrementally divorce itself from you without you even realizing it — you’ll just blend in with the rest of the walking dead among us.

The person who affirms life in this way has no reason to entertain the simulation idea.
