Moderation Questions
The last iteration of the moderation discussion thread was a complete disaster. Numerous attempts to keep it on topic failed, and it became a general discussion thread with almost no moderation related posts at all. And those that were posted were so buried in non-mod posts that it became a huge time drain on the mods to sort through them. Then, when off topic posts were deleted posters complained about that.
This led to the closing of the mod discussion thread, replaced by the post report/pm approach. This has filtered out lots of noise, but has resulted at times in the General Discussion Thread turning into a quasi-mod thread. This is not desirable, but going back to the old mod thread is also not a workable option.
Therefore, I have created this new moderation thread, but with a different purpose and ground rules than previous mod threads. The purpose of this thread is to provide a place for posters to pose questions to the mods about how policies are applied; to bring to the mods attention posts they think are inappropriate and reach the level of requiring mod action; and for mods to communicate to posters things like changes or clarifications to policies, bannings, etc.
Now let me tell you what this thread is NOT a place for. It is not for nonmoderation related posts, even if the discussion originates from a comment in in a mod related post. It is not for posters to post their opinions about other posters or whether a poster should be banned. It is not to rehash past grievances about mod decisions from months or years ago. The focus of this thread will be recent posts that require action now. Or questions about current policies and enforcement.
So basically, this is a thread to ask mods questions. Which means, pretty much that only mods should be answering those questions. If a poster asks why a particular post was deleted or allowed, only a mod can answer that. Everyone else who wants to jump in with their opinion or their mod war story needs to stay out of it. It just increases the noise to signal ratio and does nothing to answer the question.
Everyone needs to understand that this thread has very different rules than the old mod thread and any other thread. Any non-moderation post will be deleted on sight. Not moved to the appropriate thread, just deleted. So don't waste your time crafting a masterpiece post about wars or transgender issues or the presidential election and then post it in this thread. It will be gone. Also, this isnt a thread for general commentary about our mods performance. Posting "browser sucks as a mod" or any such posts that don't actually ask about a policy or request a mod action will be deleted. Everyone is entitled to their opinion about the moderation of this forum. But this thread isnt for complaining about mods. You are free to go to the ATF forum and make your concerns about modding in this forum there.
So with that intro, this thread is open for those who need to bring questions about mod policies or bring inappropriate posts to the mods attention. Again, it is NOT a thread for group discussions about other posters or for other posters to answer questions directed to mods.
We'll see how this goes. If you have what you feel is an open issue raised in the General Discussion Thread, please copy that post or otherwise reintroduce the issue here.
Thanks.
i'm shocked that op's original artificially low search result which has long since been debunked (and op even posted acknowledging it and that he made a mistake in his search) is the version of events that mb shows up with later to sensationalize it all over again
shocked i tell ya
It could be argued that it is, and perhaps I should stop. But, it's just a historical thing about words being offensive or not and "moron" being used in any kind of clinical sense is really really really outdated and not just a little outdated and I think it's changed. I don't think people associate "moron" with the clinical diagnosis the way they do with "******ed". But, also, I never claimed to be offended myself about any language, just that I understood it.
How did you imagine "chud" was just as offensive though?

It doesn't really bother me what people call me either tbh. It's just the hypocrisy that irks me.
The libchuds have banlust. Live with it.
My original point was that libtard was a way more used term than MAGAtard and I still stand by that. The further discussion seems pointless.
I did a little research into the terms and it seems like idiot was the predecessor to the r-word and idiot lost favor in the late 19th century because it became a derogatory term. Fast forward 100 years and the r-word lost favor for the same reason.

I used to love to use the r-word, not so much as to describe a person but to describe something that made no sense. I've since all but eliminated it from my vocabulary since it's derogatory to people with ID. However, I don't get offended when other people use it, nor would I ever call someone out for using it.
No more of this crap, let's bitch about the mods. That coordi sure is a ...?
I think maga-tard is worse than lib-tard because in the first case they are actually low IQ (so they are being insulted for a personal characteristic they can't change) while in the latter they are mostly just evil.
I do agree lib-tard was used a ton more than maga-tard
Just when you thought we had plumbed the depths of possible insults along comes Luciom to really put the boot in.
Not only are we called t...s but we actually are re.....d.
Thanks Luciom.

well I am not the person who suggests to use that word.
i am saying it is worse to use it because it's far closer to the truth , and insulting people for their immutable characteristics imho is something we should avoid.
For all of Luciom's faults, and there are pages and pages of those, he at least recognizes what BJ and PB are. I have to give him that.
I think Luciom says what at least several other posters here are thinking and it's good for it to be out in the open.
I'm not sure I agree with this. Luciom is a doctrinal far right extremist. Guys like BJ are just Trump daddies. They don't really believe in anything except what their God-emperor tells them.
Both terrible, of course, but in different ways.

if "far right" encompasses both Milei and Putin the expression is meaningless
Says the guy who thinks Nixon was a Marxist.

Basically, what I mean is that there are a lot of people who would not be opposed to having massive numbers of people shot.
I view Luciom as the guy who wants to open a heroin stand at the farmers market because its his right to engage in free trade and demands to see where it says in the rules which substances are allowed to be sold by farmers at markets
