The last iteration of the moderation discussion thread was a complete disaster. Numerous attempts to keep it on topic fa
I've got enough going on that I don't really want to have to sew someone a sweater to make up for whatever they've given me.
Your friends sound nice, Crossnerd. I just donβt see why you need to denigrate men in order to make your point about consumerism. Plenty of men have close friends, and whatβs worse, plenty of men donβt have close friends but would like to.
Oh sorry, I meant βbooooooo man bad!β

No the word is Misandry π
Miss Andrist? Never met her
There is no one to whom you have those normal obligations, or anyone who has them towards you? Oh dear.
My problem with gift giving is with with the word "obligation". I see every year the stress in people who feel obligated to buy gifts even if they don't have the money for it. They are trapped in the gift giving loop. My mom would give up essential items in her life in order to buy cousins, aunts, uncles, grandkids, good friends, Good friends kids etc gifts. We learned that she actually cut back on her insulin back when it was super expensive just to have money for gifts. Throughout the year I give surprise gifts or buy lunch or coffee or drinks. I do a lot of nice things for people. I've told people on holidays don't buy me anything and I'm not buying you anything. The exceptions is I will buy gifts for my kids or close friends kids.

I suppose many of us have some form of bigotry. In CN's case, it's men. Some forms of bigotry are acceptable here and some are not.
(Banning all forms of bigotry in this forum would be kewl, but that will never happen ofc.)

Iβm not bigoted against men. I donβt think menβs behavior is inherent to their biology or innate characteristics; I think itβs due to the way men are socialized.
Itβs a significant distinction from misogyny.

Yes, it is anti-science blank slatism. Which is significantly worse than just being a misogynist. Because the premises of blank slatism are so fundamentally flawed, the solutions are abject failures that make everything worse.
See the epidemic of drugging young boys with psych medicine so they behave more like their female peers, which is probably a big component of the mental health epidemic.
Now replace men with any other group. whatsoever and see if Crossnerd still endorses that statement. I wonβt do it but I think itβs pretty easy to fill in the blank in your head.

My understanding is that bigotry is okay if its perpertrated by a group that has little or no power. Like, I've heard it said that at least in America a black person can't be a racist.
Of course, that idea is unremittingly stoopid, but it's where we are.
I hope you guys will be okay ♥
