Caught some sort of bomber doing test runs while on vacation this week. I thought it was pretty bad ass!

Trump being a Putin stooge definitely isn’t bad ass though. Probably the opposite

I think that's a C-130 Hercules tactical transport. It is a great shot.

Flying a Stealth Bomber/Fighter formation overhead as Trump/Putin walk into the summit was 100% badass! I know this is a lefty echo chamber but c'mon as an American you just gotta love that flex 😀

Flex or not, your President came across as extremely weak looking.

So you can't define it 😀 I didn't think so.

Fascism is about eliminating opposing views for starter .
Fascism is anti liberal .
I can go on but just seeing how trump operates should give you an idea where it’s going ….

But to call this forum left echo chamber …. Seem it’s more appropriate to ask you what is the left .

Woulda been pretty bad ass to fly a single target assassin drone over head

Ya I don’t follow at all why the chuds are jizzing their pants over this. Was that supposed to be a show of ‘we could kill you if we wanted while you are *checks notes* standing side by side with the president who is wearing his missile-proof pants’?

Or was it supposed to be a show of ‘check out our super cool plane’? Cuz that’s somehow even lamer

Pretty sure you are right. Nice call

Significant progress" in Alaska caused Trump's shift from ceasefire to peace deal, Witkoff says

He told Jake Tapper that significant progress made during Friday’s summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin led US President Donald Trump to abandon his push for an immediate ceasefire and instead work toward advancing a larger peace agreement

We made so much progress at this meeting with regard to all the other ingredients necessary for a for a peace deal that we, that President Trump pivoted to that place,” Witkoff said.

Makes sense. We made so much progress towards peace, why stop shooting each other now....ffs..

I actually thought Trump got nothing out of the meeting, and Putin got.
- a stage as an superpower equal
- red carpet treatment on US soil
-a chance to talk about renewing business between the US and Russia
- another Trump-engineered stall win for Putin. Putin does not even have to use all of his stall tactics. He's got Trump helping him at every turn.

Also, I love the way Putin said if Trump was in power the war would never of started. I guess that to mean (1) Putin would not have wanted the Ukraine territory he took if Trump was in power, or (2) Trump would have forced Ukraine to give it to Russia, or (3) Trump would have said Ukraine is never getting in NATO. 1 and 2 are lol and 3 might have enabled Putin even more..

When you have no victory and no progress, it's always nice to make **** up to keep morale high.

Unfortunately, noise like this also drowns out debate. The nature of Trumpism also makes it impossible to deal in facts that make Trump look bad, which due to Trump's stranglehold on the GOP and de facto control of the three federal branches also makes it impossible for the US to deal in such facts. Perhaps that is true some extent with most political leaders, but Trump is an extreme example who embraces both censorship and authoritarian demands for loyalty.

This is unfortunate, because reality doesn't overly much care about Trump's political image or the sensibilities of his supporters.

I don't understand HOW or WHY, but it looks like americans loved the nothing burger in alaska

S. President Donald Trump's approval rating surged after his summit with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

According to polling by InsiderAdvantage, 54 percent of voters said they now approved of the president while 44 percent disapproved.

Trump's net +10 percent approval rating is an increase from the publication's last poll in July, which gave him a net +2 percent approval rating—with 50 percent of respondents approving and 48 percent disapproving.

Newsweek these days is just a rag that writes flamebait and engagement bait for people on the left.

There is pretty much no way foreign policy, let alone a lone political meeting, shifts the approval needle in politics by 10 percentage points in the US, where foreign policy is dangerously close to irrelevant for political popularity. It takes Iraq-war scale and years of development for US voters to start bringing foreign policy matters to the polls.

As for the brain drain, you fail to realize what an upper middle class russian realized. Up until 2022, upper middle class russians were protected from problems. They lived mostly in moscow or st peterburg and neighoring areas, had a good high quality "european style" life, and could plan for their future and their children future in the same way a german or a british person ca

It's most likely you and not me in terms of failing to realize Russian topics, as I am from CIS region and have been living my whole life here. And I bet you don't have enough real connections on the ground there because you translate some basic western echo-chamber takes that have little to do with reality.

I regularly visit Moscow, just open Youtube to see the quality of life in Moscow/St P in 2025 to speak of some sort of exodus of quality professionals or upper class. Relocation to another culture (and in this case most likely a hostile one) in itself is a whole separate topic, it's not an easy move for majority of people, even rich ones.

Taxes? Income tax was always 13% for a while and you think people fear it's gonna become for example 20% so they have to run asap?

Drafted children? Don't see any exoduses in Israel and other mandatory military service countries. Actually Israel is a great example to counter argument your points. Just apply them to Israel and see what happens in reality there (I hope you have some connections there to fact check everything in terms of people leaving Israel, taxes, fears, etc).

You mentioned physically - what physically stopped someone to leave Russia? The borders were always open. Longer to wait for a Schengen Visa? Yes, but still doable for everyone who actually wants it (one can just choose easier countries).

Accepted in first world countries? You think when the war is over, those first world citizens will immediately stop being hostile to Russians? The attitude will be the same, so its definitely not a reason to wait for the relocation.

I have 0 connections in the stan. I have a lot in moldova and a lot (but indirect) in moscow/st peterburg. So i won't comment on how life is outside of the upper-middle-class professionals in the 2 european cities. For that, i would just use normal media sources.

But man the situation for 30-40 y old skilled people in the urban centers is "have been preparing to leave since they started drafting us". They aren't leaving YET because they aren't accepted anywhere in the first world right now.

I said taxes were super low. I also said they need to go up , and a lot, and they will because this war is a permanent financial scar on the nation.

In israel people are indoctrinated. Russians (especially upper middle class ones) have 0 sense of honor and country and are some of the most individualistic people you will ever find worldwide. For good reasons: their country was always hostile to them.

EU countries treat you like a monster if you are russian right now. Moving there is harder than ever. But this will change. It's not local attitude which is a problem, is your cards being blocked if russian. Your visa not being renewed. Once that stops, russians will move, a lot.

Newsweek was bought out by a clickbait shop many years ago, I wanna say like 8-10 years back.

It’s ok to believe wokism represent the entire left spectrum, it’s stupid but it’s ok….

Trump entire movement is about shutting everything that goes against him, by passing constitution using emergency measures about everything , even using the national guard ffs .
Menacing and pursing legally universities, newspaper, cutting funding , receiving openly bribes for those that bend the knee to trump , etc…

Yes man it’s the same o0.

And it’s funny I still hear openly without any legal or whatsoever problems about opposing view about Covid, trans, etc…….
No idea wtf you talking about .

A very long winded way of saying it's going to end with ukraine giving up land as part of a deal. For all the noise, it was pretty much inevitable once we let ukraine down so badly at the beginning

Obviously it's ultimately Ukraine's decision, but I can't believe Europe will accept Putin's deal that Trump is trying to railroad through as a vain attempt to win the Nobel Peace Prize.

Let's see in the future who was right. I bet on taxes not going up A LOT and Russians not moving out A LOT

I've kind of believed since this thing was about 6 months old and obviously an unexpected quagmire, if there were hits on Moscow and people dying on the streets there, Putin would be gone nearly immediately.

I think the mass amounts of Americans would say that Putin shouldn't be allowed to be a bully and would be more okay with more US involvement in making sure putin doesn't continue to advance or impede but

how many of them would be willing to send actual boots on the ground is what I wonder. I do think throwing 2x more money at the situation is def an answer but not sure how big of an impact in x amount of years. I ve resad a lot of anti-russia and such, but at what point do or dont you wantt boots on the ground to dissolve the situation? i surely want this to end and have no more deaths yet no more war break out.

I do think US could forcefully "end" this situation quite quickly as we ll know but not sure what consequences would be

Seen a lot about these the last few days. Guess we'll have to see how they start using them.
