Moderation Questions
The last iteration of the moderation discussion thread was a complete disaster. Numerous attempts to keep it on topic failed, and it became a general discussion thread with almost no moderation related posts at all. And those that were posted were so buried in non-mod posts that it became a huge time drain on the mods to sort through them. Then, when off topic posts were deleted posters complained about that.
This led to the closing of the mod discussion thread, replaced by the post report/pm approach. This has filtered out lots of noise, but has resulted at times in the General Discussion Thread turning into a quasi-mod thread. This is not desirable, but going back to the old mod thread is also not a workable option.
Therefore, I have created this new moderation thread, but with a different purpose and ground rules than previous mod threads. The purpose of this thread is to provide a place for posters to pose questions to the mods about how policies are applied; to bring to the mods attention posts they think are inappropriate and reach the level of requiring mod action; and for mods to communicate to posters things like changes or clarifications to policies, bannings, etc.
Now let me tell you what this thread is NOT a place for. It is not for nonmoderation related posts, even if the discussion originates from a comment in in a mod related post. It is not for posters to post their opinions about other posters or whether a poster should be banned. It is not to rehash past grievances about mod decisions from months or years ago. The focus of this thread will be recent posts that require action now. Or questions about current policies and enforcement.
So basically, this is a thread to ask mods questions. Which means, pretty much that only mods should be answering those questions. If a poster asks why a particular post was deleted or allowed, only a mod can answer that. Everyone else who wants to jump in with their opinion or their mod war story needs to stay out of it. It just increases the noise to signal ratio and does nothing to answer the question.
Everyone needs to understand that this thread has very different rules than the old mod thread and any other thread. Any non-moderation post will be deleted on sight. Not moved to the appropriate thread, just deleted. So don't waste your time crafting a masterpiece post about wars or transgender issues or the presidential election and then post it in this thread. It will be gone. Also, this isnt a thread for general commentary about our mods performance. Posting "browser sucks as a mod" or any such posts that don't actually ask about a policy or request a mod action will be deleted. Everyone is entitled to their opinion about the moderation of this forum. But this thread isnt for complaining about mods. You are free to go to the ATF forum and make your concerns about modding in this forum there.
So with that intro, this thread is open for those who need to bring questions about mod policies or bring inappropriate posts to the mods attention. Again, it is NOT a thread for group discussions about other posters or for other posters to answer questions directed to mods.
We'll see how this goes. If you have what you feel is an open issue raised in the General Discussion Thread, please copy that post or otherwise reintroduce the issue here.
Thanks.

Yeah, he was living in the trans thread and when CN evicted him, he must not have any where else to go. It’s a pretty lame attempt at revenge. At least, that’s like, my opinion, dude.
Pardon me for not knowing or understanding where the line is in regards to rudeness and/or sexism
last week
Definitely not me and don't know who that is. But I did post a bunch in the (obviously locked lol) trans thread so I might recognize the screenname if you mentioned it
Making crossnerd a moderator is the most 2p2 move ever
washoe isn't banned afaik
Pretty sure he's not. Just want to see if he can be conjured up.
You don't know or understand how asking a woman if it's her time of the month due to a modding decision is rude or sexist? I'm not trying to be a smart arse but I would have thought this blindingly obvious.
last week
Sorry but how does this make the time of the month comment less sexist or rude? I think personally she's hopelessly generalising about men in some respects. She happens to be correct re statistics though so there's a sense of context there and these quotes are from discussions that I have no idea how heated they got etc. Not the same as randomly asking a female mod if it's her time of the month, over her modding.

Fair enough my bad
Making crossnerd a moderator is the most 2p2 move ever
I actually think she's fair. I've had disagreements with her but she is fair and can take on board another pov or grievance re decisions she's made, which I'm saying from personal experience wrt warnings etc.
Try again. You got this
How on earth are posters supposed to expect 100% hypocrisy in how the moderator posts and moderates when it comes to being both rude and sexist in the same week. I would argue crossnerds posts contained more sexism and rudeness
This is why I thought the discussion about the time of the month comment would be interesting
I already addressed the line issue, you even quoted it

People keep getting banned if they imply Muslims want all jews dead
Victor is in the thread basically saying jews deserve to die for wearing the star of David
If i reply in that thread I will surely be banned
So congrats i won't
I'll probably eat a temp for this post anyway
But
This is much worse than the comments dunyanin made for example
If the mods disagree then this place is a cesspool
Victor and jalfrezi get to do this all the time. They get told "edit that meme " or "tone it down" or it is ignored
There's like 1 pro Israel person left in the thread. And the 2 posters that post racist statements the most are still there
If this if what you want, Baruch Hashem
My honest opinion is she often has good intentions, but if do self unaware and doesn't even think there is any bias in her decisions
The number of rampantly pro-Israel posters in that thread has decreased, you're right about that.
You're wrong about the reasons why that is, though.
The fact that she made posts belittling me for not having kids without knowing how much invetro and things my wife and I went through and the posts got magically deleted and she got promoted means I know i will be eventually permaed again if I continue to post
So i likely won't
I clicked show post and I'll just say this
The last time I got tempbanned was the same time as you. Yours was 24 hours mine was 1 week. You came back and immediately began posting memes and were just told to stop.
Victor is in the thread basically saying jews deserve to die for wearing the star of David
false
I'm not going to play your mental gymnastics
He got killed got wearing a symbol that Israel has made suggestive of extermination people? You should be banned for suggesting that Israel wants to exterminate people. You imply they deserve it and poke the pro Israel posters who actually have souls and then they get banned and you live happily ever after
Congrats. You get less upset than us and tow the bullshit arbitrary line better than Zionists. Be proud
You're being dishonest here - you know very well we were temp banned for different reasons.
This is the nub of the whole problem with having mods - people like you, and there are probably many like you, see this as some sort of work-like environment where you can earn "promotion" to modship that enables you to act like a cop.
Mods should have low status not high and it should be seen as a chore to be shared out between everyone, like cleaning the kitchen in a communal house.
nobody died. he got in a barfight and the article didnt make any mention of injuries or medical care. the whole article quotes the guy claiming to be a victim and only that guy.
Crossnerd
If you're not banning me permanently or temporarily fit this discussion, I'm asking you that tempban me for 1 week at my request
He didn't get in a bar fight . He was attacked after being asked if he was Jewish
I'm pretty sure that every mod in this forum has viewed modding as a chore and not a promotion.
I don't understand the wording of this. Are you requesting a temp?
I can certainly handle that for you. But the wording of your post is not clear to me.
At 2am in a club
Reality checking someone isn’t childish.
She needs to tone it down. She’s practically killed this subforum through her distorted form of justice.
I wish you would stop misrepresenting what actually happened to fit your victim narrative. You were shrugging off tens of thousands of children being blown to bits, and I commented that you aren’t a parent. I apologized for the comment, and I wasn’t a moderator when I said it. At this point it’s intentionally dishonest how you’re framing it, and I don’t have to tolerate it.
I probably will perma you again if you just return to the same behavior that got you perma’d in the first place. Giving you grace had zero effect.
And Craig, which reality are you referring to, my friend? You live on the moon. Enough already.
It's amusing that so many people have lost their wigs over this particular temp-ban. FWIW, I suspect that nate himself would agree that he was asking for a temp-ban with that comment.
