The Dems need to figure out how to reincarnate the version of themselves that nominated FDR. If they continue to suck up to big money and box out the people who would do something other than make rich people richer, they can become a semi-permanent minority party. They really need to cut the cord with Clintons and Obama and congressional figures like Pelosi and Schumer.

They also really need to cut the cord with the identity based selections of black and female candidates on the basis of identity. They need an alpha character who is going to kick ass and use the bully pulpit like Trump does. Not a freaking wimp like Obama who fights for nothing and doesn't bully anybody.

The Democratic Party has weeded out "cojones". It's needs a bully other than Nancy Pelosi who has been a bully in the Congress on behalf of the status quo.

The world is kinda swirling the drain at the moment. Americans are by design, thoroughly uneducated about anything important. The climate crisis is rapidly mounting. Are Republican voters going to blame the Biden Adminstration for steering the hurricanes of the next four years into US communities ? LOL ... I know they'll try. One thing about Trump and his supporters you can count on. Anything that goes well will be his credit. Anything that goes poorly, they'll be blaming someone else.

We appear to be headed for some kinda of singularity where things get so bad that **** breaks en masse. We had homelessness increase by a record 18% in 2024 and its scarcely a news story. NOBODY knows that. We are a seriously messed up society.

What is the meaning of America beyond being a machine which concentrates wealth into fewer and fewer hands ???

What meaning do we wish to have attached to this country so many people claim to be so proud of ? What is it about America that makes people proud ? Junk food & obesity ? $4,000 ambulance rides to the hospital ? Leaders who encourage us to fear each other ? A Congress and media with a 10-15% approval rating among the public ? A Supreme Court that says corporations have the same rights of free speech as people ?

If no one prepares to defeat the "magaverse", then I would say they deserve to rule. Sometimes in life, competitions just boil down to who wants it more.

I watched a tennis match earlier. Djokovic beat Alcaraz. That guy Djokovic .... man, he is possessed. At 37, his ability to summon the will to win over the young studs is amazing. He wants it more than the other guys and has a strong mind. The magaverse has that going for them. They really want to win. They are desperate to win.

If your best strategy is anything other than to find a better democratic alternative to them, then a non-election is the karmic response. Democracy is not a spectator sport. It's a competition. The magaverse won the most recent competition fairly.

There are only about 10 states that decide the Presidency every time, and running a California candidate that will not appeal in the swing states is a losing proposition.

Newsom's problems run deeper than just being from California. He's a rich elitist who was caught hypocritically attending his own opulent and elitist private dinner gathering while lecturing his constituents to refrain from doing the same during Covid.

He has no appealing policy which connects him to the needs of a desperate working that was fed up with a Biden / Harris regime that presided over a record 18% increase in homelessness in 2024 without acknowledging that reality and doing nothing to prevent the continued Wall St takeover of American residential real estate for the purpose of gouging the public on rent.

At some point, the Dems need a whole lot more than just .... "I'm not Trump". It's thoroughly inadequate to make your parties campaign messaging to only be about the scariness of the other team and abandon efforts to give voters a positive reason to vote for themselves. The D's are a sick party that stand for nothing except maintaining fealty to big money. The Republicans are substantive not much better, but they do have candidates who channel their supporter's anger. They provide targets for people's anger.

The D's nominated Kamala Harris ??? A terrible candidate whose path to elitism was based upon naked opportunism and sleeping with a powerful politician in Willie Brown. She ran for POTUS in the 2020 primary with huge financial backing and support of establishment media and she fell so flat that she didn't even make it to the first event in Iowa. News alert .... that's the most important qualification for a political candidate. Getting voters to support you and vote for you. It's a popularity contest.

As far as I'm concerned, the Democrats don't even care about winning. They did a great job of ensuring that there was no competition and no progressive voices in the mix in 2024. Mission accomplished. Making sure a real progressive is kept from office is the shared goal of both party establishments. They put up a facade of being opponents, but it seems all a show.

So long as Democrats don't have a vigorous intra-party debate and competitive primary, the title "Democratic"" is an oxymoron.

FDR was a great Democratic President. His legacy was successfully leading the country through the Great Depression and World War 2. At the 1936 Dem convention when the party elites tried to strong arm him and dictate his VP choice, he famously declared that he welcomed the hate of the elites and dared them to mess with him. During WW2, he filled the city of Washington DC with competent people who were committed to an agenda that served the people instead of the wealthy elites who traditionally populated the city and the federal govt positions with patronage jobs. Under his leadership we develop the A-bomb prior to our adversaries. We got big stuff done. We got Social Security for elderly and disabled citizens.

Why do I blame Clinton. He got things done that Republicans found mouth watering. He got rid of the Glass Steagall legislation that FDR got passed and which had created a wall between commercial and investment banking. That led to the enormous speculation and derivative trading that manifested in the 2007 real estate crash under Bush. Clinton signed the Telecom Act of 1996 which eliminated barriers to companies like Sinclair being able to dominate all three of radio, television and newspaper markets in the same community. Take a drive through rural America and listen to talk radio and you'll see that those Trump supporters are getting ALL of their media from the same company that is intentionally brainwashing them. That's all because of legislation that Bill Clinton signed with the support of Republicans in Congress, not Democrats. And then you have NAFTA. Selling out American jobs to lower cost labor so that the oligarchs could make a bigger profit. In the 2016 election, Hillary didn't even have balls to go to the swing states of PA, WI and MI to speak to the voters who decided the election. Trump ran to the left of Hillary on NAFTA. And then of course, there's Bill profound personal history of sexual assault which is even worse than Trump's misogyny. Trump showed at a debate with four of Clinton's assault victims and that totally took the issue out of play for Hillary. Last but not least was the nepotism of having the party establishment set aside the competition and basically anoint Hillary the candidate in 2016 without her having any success of winning a competitive election. People didn't like her and they didn't care. It was not easy finding a candidate who had the negatives to lose to Trump and they did. They totally cheated in the primary and the DNC was reporting directly into the Clinton campaign. She called Trump supporters "deplorables".

The Clinton legacy is that they Hillary and Bill got rich while the working class fell behind. Chelsea got a job MSNBC paying 600K a year to do basically nothing. The nepotism reeks.

Obama's legacy is that he ran a fantastic progressive campaign full of hope and lofty speech and then completely abandoned any populism in his governance. His health care plan came from Mitt Romney and elevated health insurance stocks by 10% on the day it was signed. He will be remembered for Edward Snowden outing his administration's willingness to engage in illegal surveillance. His legacy will be that they decided to bail out the banks and didn't prosecute any fraud from the huge collapse where 9 million families lost their homes and home equity. His legacy will be the failed attempt at negotiating the TPP in secret for 6 years in an effort to cement a global business oligarchy. Obama's greatest legacy will be the fraud that is the Paris Climate Accords which was all hype and created zero obligations or jurisdiction to limit greenhouse gas emissions. Under Obama's terms, America became the dominant global fossil fuel producer, far surpassing the Saudis and Russia.

What did Obama do after he left office ? He went jet skiing with Richard Branson. He hangs out with Beyonce and golfs with Steph Curry. He's just like a high school kid who wants to be cool. He came into office with nothing and now he's worth 9 figures while the working class went backwards under his leadership. Go through eight years of Obama's speeches. I dare you to find a single one about the malignant growth in inequality during his terms. Bragging about creating ten million jobs when most of them weren't adequate to pay a family's bills. All image, no substance.

Obama wasn;t even loyal to the interests of the Democratic Party. He started his own competing fundraising operation vs the DNC and the Democrats lost over 1,000 local legislative seats during his tenure. His personal charisma and pride he instilled in the African American community was sufficient for himself to get elected, but the lack of substantive accomplishment didn't pan out down ballot. He took over with 59 senators in his party in 2009 and that advantage was completely squandered by 2013. He failed to get Ruth Bader Ginsburg replaced while he had a Dem senate majority and that paved the way for Mitch McConnell to stonewall Merrick Garland and give that seat to Trump and Neil Gorsuch.

Obama was a disaster for the working class voters. His lack of accomplishment on behalf of the people created the demand for Trump. He supported Hillary over Bernie in an election in which people wanted change.

Obama's legacy will be that of a failure. Climate change alone will guarantee that when people are furious and ask how this could have happened. They won't have to dig too deep to understand that Paris was all a sham.

Trump supporters don't have any assets to understand that the economy was the best it's ever been through Biden's term. What's really sad is if Project 2025 plans comes to fruition they also won't have social security or medicare which the vast majority of them need to survive. Have you read the 900 pages of Project 2025? God forbid the Republicans actually have a platform and some policy goals. Social Security and Medicare not sustainable, these programs need to be eliminated for the betterment of All Americans.

Government programs are inherently inefficient, that includes government forced "retirement" plans. I would much rather my SS taxes be in my own pocket so I can determine how to invest them myself. As for healthcare there is a reason we have the most cutting edge health care in the world. Are things perfect? No, we have fascist policies such as EMTALA which force emergency departments to see nonsensical complaints which creates a chain reaction and clogs up the system. What other business is forced to do business with leeches who will never pay their bill?
