You stopped Genocide Joe! What more did you want?

What more did I want? Well, considering Trump would have been Genocide Don had he been in power from 2020-2024, I'm still miles from what I want, which is a President who does NOT actively fund or commit a genocide. It's a big ask, I know.

Have I ever said or implied that Republicans weren't genocidal imperialist maniacs? No. What I HAVE said, on innumerable occasions and to the contrary, is that the Republican Party is "more evil" than the Dems. Somehow, I never get credit for that.

I think what happened is that you heard this some radical advocate for "accelerationism" and then you credited this sentiment to all the people you consider far-left.

I mean, this is the first time I've ever heard "Genocide Don" before, so you do kinda give off that vibe.

Bolded is mostly mischaracterization. What rational people have said is:

1) Trump's has authoritarian instincts.
2) Trump actively sowed mistrust in election results for personal gain.
3) Trump attempted a strategy that was designed to allow him to remain in office despite losing the 2020 election. (Admittedly, this strategy had a low probability of success.)
4) Most Republicans in Congress were complicit in 3.
5) Trump has eased the way in the future for someone even worse than him.

I don't

He might not succeed, but he'll no doubt spend the next four years trying - in between attempting to get back at anyone he views as against him. I doubt much else happens.

Number 4 is the game changer. In the past, congress could be relied on to maintain a check on bad presidents. Like Nixon. That is completely gone. A republican congress will do anything they can to protect this treasonous idiot and if the maga twitterverse or someone like Stephen Miller comes up with some sort of scheme to keep him in power they will be behind it 100%.

And then you have the courts. We already have 2 on the supreme court - Alito and Thomas who will support him no matter what, and a majority that will rule in his favor on quite a few things. A couple more deaths an he can pack it with some Aileen Cannons and the overthrow is complete.

Again, who knows if it plays out this way, but you can be 100% sure that this is his goal.

There is no hypocrisy in rational selfish behaviour, the hypocrisy happens when you deny being rationally selfish is your moral compass, not viceversa.

Taking your "pro-lifer" example, the hypocrisy is about them not actually believing abortion is actually murder, not in them living normally among "baby murderers".

Revealed preferences: actions tell you (and us) what you actually believe, not words, if the 2 aren't aligned.

In Victor-world, things need to burn to the ground so that something glorious can arise from the ashes.

That's fair. I shouldn't have said, "anybody with left politics", I should have said, "anybody with left politics excluding the small contingent of accelerationists who irrationally think that the left would somehow emerge victorious once all society has been reduced to ashes." It's definitely less snappy of a quote.

afaik, it's the only time anybody has ever said "Genocide Don". I don't find it strange that you haven't heard this thing that I just now made up.

Let me know if I get some vibe points from the countless times I've talked about how awful the GOP is EVEN IN RELATION TO DEMOCRATS, i.e., something 90% of socialists don't talk about (because it's obvious and assumed, not because they're afraid to admit it or whatever).

You don't criticize Republicans because they're really bad?

No Trolly, but I criticize you and your remarkable inability to:

A: Read
B: EVER approach ANY argument ANYONE gives to you in good faith

Man, you suck. Nut worst poster.

Seems like my posting is so evidently bad that you don't need to talk about it. Like Trump.

I've been lurking this place forever and even back then it was clear that Trolly is far-and-away King of The Strawman. I have NEVER, anywhere on the entire internet, seen else dishonestly ascribe arguments that were never made to one's opponents at remotely the frequency he does. It's not close. He is a remarkably bad person and should obviously be permabanned, but he doesn't say naughty words often enough, so, nevermind.

Countless times I would agree with his general argument while disagreeing with his opponent, but then Trolly would hit us with a hardcore series of dishonest, scummy strawmen, and I get so overwhelmed at what a disgusting human Trolly is that I can't help but hope he makes himself look even dumber than he normally does.

He's also never said something funny. I mean, however many thousands of posts, not once has he said anything compelling, entertaining, or funny. A truly disgusting specimen of humanity.

oooh, got em! STRAIGHT TO THE BURN UNIT! (wanking motion)

Another dull gem. Another 100k posts and you may accidentally write something witty or compelling or, hell, just honest.

I think that Trolly might actually lie more frequently than Donald F Trump himself

Damn, this guy broke down way too easily.

****ing kill yourself

Hardcore sociopath.

Guy has no feelings outside of a fleeting moment of what he recognizes as joy when he angers those of us with a soul. There's nothing you can really do with a sociopath except hope that they die and die quickly.

I think

Do you consider your wishes ideological or pragmatical ?

5) no, he actually allowed the system to fix some potentially exploitable loopholes (clarifying VP roles for example, and at the state level clarifying procedures to certify electoral votes)

As if it was needed ?
lol .

The truth is he try to steal an election that way ( one of many ways) and it didn’t work because anyone competent knew it was hor$e$h!t to begin with ….
Nice to deform reality tho ….

Karl definitely spilled some mustard on his fur suit this morning and is taking it out on internet strangers. That's what you get for being British and eating bizarre things for breakfast.

The 2028 POTUS-elect is almost certainly not on this list. I sincerely hope that we'll have had enough of this bullshit as a nation, and go on to elevate someone without as much Trump-era baggage as this roster. If Trump manages to turn this into some sort of family dynasty, I promise you right now I'll join the radical left.

Thursdays are the only nights I'm willing to protest, though. And not if it's too cold outside. The beanbag round to the face hurts so much more if you're freezing.

I can see myself backing Vance, though. I didn't follow the couch saga, but every interview I've seen with him seems like he's got a solid handle on his role in all of this. The right mix of politician and everyman.

As I ask in good faith, would you be willing to (and as much as I hate to have a spokesman representing anyone beyond themselves and their kids) represent that group that is left of the **** libs, but right of the accelerationists and lay out some groundwork or some specifics (that could actually be implemented) on what this country should do to improve the lives of the bottom 99% of people living here?

Because it seems like for the last ten years, the heavy majority of lefty wing ideals that has been put in practice has often and literally lead to the end result of what lefties purported to be against (mostly an economic pov). So it can just lead to assuming that are either just really ****ing dumb and don't know how the system really works, or they are looking to burn the **** down - which is why I respect vic because I can in a certain regard, see where he is coming and sympathize with it and more importantly, know that I am getting the straight scoop. I like that. It just isn't very convincing when reading something like the abolish the prison crowd, hours later, celebrating folks for getting jailed for bull **** civil forfeiture because they were right wingers - but I'll concede that maybe those are more of the libs ... My god i hate labels, but we created that **** ...

formula it is even worse than that. the people on the left of the technocratic center-left democrats, decriminalized petty crimes because "the justice system disproportionately damages minorities".

end result was beyond disastrous as expected by everyone not a radical leftist. obscene beyond belief, incredible.

I admit this could very well just be my increasingly jaded attitude toward society, but I've noticed the level of adherence to traffic laws in the City of Milwaukee has absolutely cratered in recent times. Anyone else seeing this in the age of rampant and unapologetic criminal mischief?

Now that so many WFH policies have been reversed, the freeway is a shitshow every day so I've been taking sidestreets through the ghetto every day for the past year or so. At least three times a week I watch someone casually run red lights or do the "Kia Boy" weaving across both sides of the road. People truly don't give a **** because there aren't any consequences.

The cops in my specific neighborhood have been out in force, but I'm across the street from the City itself.

I would be a single-issue voter for whichever politician agrees to clean up the streets. Take notes, 2028 hopefuls. And yes, I would support literal prison time for habitual traffic offenders. WE LIVE IN A SOCIETY. Act like it.

Driving fast is fun. Relax.

The normal way to address it would be suspending the driver license if the violation is serious enough, then if you are caught again driving without a valid license make it a serious crime.

You can also sequester the vehicle but I guess that is less feasible in a country where most vehicles are on lease.

by ladybruin k

The Democratic governors like Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, California Gov. Gavin Newsom and Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker are the front runners for 2028 this early out because, like yeah, they are governing in good times and bad.

Obviously, a lot will change between now and 2028 regarding who is viable as a candidate, but I can't see Gavin Newsom winning a Presidential election at all. As 2024 again, showed a candidate has to be able to win the Rust Belt to win the Presidency. I don't think that describes Newsome at all. I live in Pennsylvania, and one of the things that Kamala Harris was hit with in ads was that she is a "California liberal." Newsome would be subject to those same attacks.

Why can't you impound a leased vehicle? Where is this country that has most vehicles that are leased?

by Didace k

You can't in Italy (unless the "conceding entity" ie the actual owner is linked to the reason for impounding), i thought that was normal elsewhere as well.

After your comment i am looking around and it looks like a huge mess with different rules place to place.

As for the leasing as a % of total cars, Italy was like 13-14% vs like 30% for the USA (pre-covid data)
