POG Politics Thread Version 3
Come on in! Since Dustin is taking his ball and going home, it's time to start a new politics thread.
Reading glasses!
[Pinching motion]
yeah man... delusional and happy often go together.
I think our overdeveloped brains, mixed with current state of human society are a bad combo.
maybe if we still lived in hunter gatherer societies with these huge brains, we might still be happy. but having these brains and having to live so unnaturally is tough.
unnaturally
as with breast implants
simulacral artifice
can't improve our lives
illusions of good
stories of accomplishment
leave our hearts hungry
if you think too hard
anything will cease to be
leaving only thought
instead look at this
whatever this is right now
as just a fancy
here and then and gone
another one, momentous
moment now at hand
joy is in the grasp
not in the sand or the milk
that has to spill down
good simulacra, illusion, story are all pretty ****ing great
but yeah nothing compares to the real thing!
It's simulacra all the way down.
The worst mistake I ever made was trying to be authentic.
authenticity is desired, attractive, cathartic, beneficial, but to a point. people aren't really trying to be around someone who just has no shame, and let's it all out.
I try to push it as far as I can, but sometimes I get too authentic, and too fake. I guess we all do.
and also you gotta keep yourself from getting locked up
Following a few simple rules has kept me out of prison despite a life full of felonious behavior.
Never sell drugs.
Never touch opiates.
Don't drive with contraband.
I have been in a jail cell temporarily but I have never been booked. Be safe out there.
Too far out of my lane to balance any woman's social dexterity against her self-objectification;
I was going from the Barbie girl thing.
Don't think you've penetrated The Real. The Real penetrates you.
kabalism notwithstanding, my thought is towards copulation without penetration
Father Sky and Mother Earth are appreciable but wasn't it Xenophanes who said the horses' gods would resemble horses?

yeah, it's hard (impossible?) to know the limit without crossing it
that's one of things I like from Catholic christianity - the value of confession and redemptive self-penance
I don't have a firm sense of Xenophanes the way I have with, say, Diogenes, but what I will say is, dogs gods look like men.
What I like about traditional Catholicism is the lives and works of monks and nuns. Mechtilde is fascinating. Hildegard von Bingen. The ascetic, contemplative sects. The Discalced Carmelites. St Theresa and John of the Cross.
I knew it. I was right!
I saw you mention before an interest in the occult/hermeticism. I have three spellings but none of them are that one.
Kabbalah - traditional Jewish Talmudic mysticism
Cabala - Medieval Christian update
Qabalah - the modern, hermetic, western occult tree of life
Book recommendation: Meditations on the Tarot

ooo, thank you
my reference was to the Jewish tradition, in which God has positive (giving) and negative (receiving) aspects which are given masculine/feminine sexualizations

I've got Francis of Assisi - pantheist animal-lover and anti-materialist - carved in glass around here somewhere
not familiar with any of these other names, but I'll definitely be checking them out
thanks, again!
Hopefully, it is a divine ecstatic union and not just dry humping.
I had a lot of trouble with moving violations as a young man. In the late 1980s my monthly car insurance premium was iirc around $125, which, working in a kitchen, after drugs and rent that is a big number.
So I got caught a couple of times driving without insurance. Really drove home the point that they get you for everything in the car. Put your drugs in the mail. If you murmur anyone drag the body to a sewer do not put it in your trunk this is not a Goodfellas situation. One goin one way one goin the other way whaddya want from me?
No mumbling!
Ye seems to be dropping Bully right now?! It sounds like he is taking his Lexapro. Whatever this song is with the digital cowbell slaps.
free tips to decrease the likelihood of vehicle searches:
- store private items out of your reach; the less accessible to you, the less need the police have to root around. in a bag, in another bag, in the trunk, under another bag. each step requires another justification
- if you are being arrested, your vehicle may be impounded and subject to an "inventory search"; avoid impoundment by being ready with someone's phone number who can come pick up your vehicle from the scene
- make sure your license, registration, and insurance card are always readily accessible; when they see you looking around your glovebox and console for them, they have a pretext to suspect mischief; for the love of god, do not wait until they come to your window to start looking for this stuff!
if you are drinking and/or smoking etc while driving,
Spoiler
GFY and after you get out of jail you POS sell your car and get a job that you can walk to
