The worst mistake I ever made was trying to be authentic.

authenticity is desired, attractive, cathartic, beneficial, but to a point. people aren't really trying to be around someone who just has no shame, and let's it all out.

I don't have a firm sense of Xenophanes the way I have with, say, Diogenes, but what I will say is, dogs gods look like men.

What I like about traditional Catholicism is the lives and works of monks and nuns. Mechtilde is fascinating. Hildegard von Bingen. The ascetic, contemplative sects. The Discalced Carmelites. St Theresa and John of the Cross.

free tips to decrease the likelihood of vehicle searches:

• store private items out of your reach; the less accessible to you, the less need the police have to root around. in a bag, in another bag, in the trunk, under another bag. each step requires another justification
